"HEALING"
HEALING: the process of making or becoming sound or healthy again; Lorelei Black was awakened yet again from a nightmare, but this time it wasn't by Birdie Potter — it was by George Weasley, the redhead had sneaked into her room and planted various glitter bombs all around her room and even on the floor — all interconnected to each other with a spell which meant when one burst the others would too, George went ahead and stepped away from Lorelei's sleeping figure until he was at a safe distance and then yelled, "Cookies!"
Lorelei jumped up from her bed startled by the noise but excited at the same time — what? don't judge her, she loves cookies too much, as soon as she stepped on the ground to find her slippers her feet fell on the glitter bomb and it burst open making the others do the same and soon the whole room had glitter practically floating in the air, Lorelei covered her nose to prevent any from going down her wind pipe and stepped out of her room immediately knowing who's to blame for this.
"George Weasley get your arse in here before I drag you myself" Lorelei exclaimed as she stepped out of the room covered in glitter from head to toe, Birdie and Hope were on their way to their room when they caught a sight of Lorelei with her black hair covered in glitter and her grey eyes dark with anger, both of them decided not to question it and went on their way, "Alright, get ready to die"
Lorelei immediately opened the door of the broom closet and found George standing in there with a few brooms trying to wipe the smile of his stupid face, Lorelei passed him a sarcastic smile, "Hey, who you hiding from?"
"Just this girl with anger issues—" was all he managed to get out before Lorelei held up her wand up to his head muttering a jinx and watched his hair turn into multiple colors and grow up to his shoulders.
"Have fun!" Lorelei said before she shut the closet door on his face and then made her way to her now glitter covered room that she had to clean up, she used the spell which made air in enormous amounts come out of the end of her wand and collected all the glitter in one place before turning it into a pretty ball.
When Lorelei had finally managed to get (almost) all the glitter out of her body and hair, she went downstairs and was immediately brought into a hug by her uncle, "Merry Christmas!" Lorelei grinned so wide her cheeks started hurting.
Andrew Rosier, Lorelei Black and Regan Rosier had a tradition — the first thing they'd always save the first hug of Christmas for each other, no one else. Lorelei doesn't exactly remember when it started or how it did, it was just always there and she wouldn't have it any other way.
"Merry Christmas, El" Andrew kissed the top of her head and then Sirene hugged her niece. I guess, Christmas was always made extra magical and special for Lorelei because that was the time she always felt out of place with everyone, but it's different now, her parents are here and she won't feel like that now.
"Daughter" Neveah came into view and Lorelei grinned at her mother — she'd been busy on a lot of missions recently and so Lorelei didn't see her as often, but she loved the fact that she was going to have a Christmas with her parents this year.
"Mother" Lorelei made her way over to the older woman and hugged her tight, when she reached the kitchen she was only bombarded with more hugs, first one to do so was Birdie, and then Fred, then Harry, Ron, Hermione, Regan (she was mad but she wasn't mad enough to refuse hugs), Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Remus, Tonks, Ginny — it was all like they were a big happy family and Lorelei loved it.
This old grim place was miserable, but the people in it made it less so.
"El" Sirius came into view, he had a soft smile on his which Lorelei reciprocated, the father and daughter hugged after what seemed like an infinite amount of years, to Lorelei that hug meant a lot — even though she was just two the year her dad left, she could remember this sense of comfort she'd feel around him, and how he'd always manage to make her feel better, and that feeling — it came back. He was her dad again, "I was hoping we could talk a bit?" he asked, "In private?"
The two of them made their way up to Sirius's room, when Lorelei entered she was shocked — she knew her dad was the kind of kid who messed around with their parents when they deserved it, but she had no idea he was that brave, Lorelei released a chuckle at the random picture of a dog in a corner, "I like your room"
Sirius grinned, "Thank you, it served me well — pissed off my parents beyond belief" he sat down on his bed and motioned for her to do the same, "You know, you've been an angel to me"
Lorelei winced, "Well, I wouldn't say that, I did give you a lot of shit"
"Which I deserved" Sirius told her, "When I left, I left for my family, and I know leaving was a mistake and that revenge wasn't going to bring back James and Lily," Sirius's grey eyes darkened and glossed over with tears, "but there was this rage inside me, and I had to get rid of it — I had to get rid of him"
"Mr. Black you really don't have to do this—" Lorelei told her father, she felt bad at first about her knowing that James and Lily were alive and then about him explaining the situation to her and possibly reliving the trauma.
"But I do, I do need to do this" Sirius said and his face held a quite broken look on it, "There's very few things I haven't messed up in my life, and my relationship with James and Lily was one of them — he was my brother, and Lily was...well, she was my rock and losing them, it tore me apart" Sirius took a deep breath, "I should've known better, I doubted Moony — the guy who would've taken a bullet for us if needed, and I trusted that rat and if it wasn't for me, James and Lily would be alive—"
"It wasn't your fault" Lorelei tried to tell him, but he didn't listen.
"Isn't it, though, El?" Sirius asked her, his voice now hoarse, "If it wasn't for me maybe Harry and Birdie would've had normal childhoods, they wouldn't have had to grow up the way they did, and they definitely wouldn't have had to live without their parents"
Lorelei put her hand on her father's unsure of what to do.
"The thing is — I should've known better, I should've known that leaving you...I'd be messing up just another thing in my life" Sirius shook his head, "But I didn't, I left you and it was my fault — it was my fault that you felt all those years without parents, it's my fault that you had to spend fifteen years wondering why I didn't stay with you, especially with your mother leaving, I should've known me leaving would — would b—"
"Break me?" Lorelei offered weakly, and Sirius looked down at his shoes, "It was tough," Lorelei admitted with a shrug, "some days were harder than the others — like birthdays, but mainly Christmas, that's why aunt Si and uncle Andrew made it extra special for Regan and I, I remember sometimes just sitting up in my room by this bay window and just hope that somehow mum could send me a letter, think about what I did that made you want to leave"
"It wasn't something you did" Sirius tried to explain but Lorelei cut him off.
"I know that now," Lorelei told him with a sad smile on her face, "I'd get so angry when someone would talk about you in a bad way, and I think that was when my anger issues started? I remember punching this kid just because he said you were a murderer, went to therapy for almost a year when I beat up a kid really bad" Lorelei winced remembering that time of her life, "And through all of it, I never hated you, I couldn't — you were my dad"
Sirius looked down at his shoes once again ashamed of how much his daughter had gone through, and all because of him — he'd ended up proving his mother right, he'd messed up the one relationship he couldn't afford to.
"And then you broke out of Azkaban" Lorelei told her father, "I got so excited that you'd done that for me, and I waited for a letter and then I saw that you'd been trying to find Harry, and not me..."
"It was for your own safety, El" Sirius explained, "You would've been treated brutally by the ministry if a single word of me meeting you had gotten out, if it were with Harry, they'd make it seem like I was on a mission to murder him"
"I know" Lorelei said, "But seriously dad? Not even a letter?"
Sirius snorted and Lorelei understood why he did, she'd made the same joke with Birdie too many times, "I'm sorry I'll be serious now—"
"You already are, though" Lorelei joked and the two fell into simultaneous laughter at the cliché joke.
"I— I've missed out on too much of your life, El" Sirius told her daughter now a serious tone in his voice, "I don't want to lose any more, I want to be there in your life, and if you'll let me — I'd like to be your dad again"
"I could do that," Lorelei passed him a smile, Sirius pulled her in for another hug, "as long as you keep the dadfoot jokes in check..."
"Now, I'm not gonna go around making promises I know I won't be able to keep" Sirius joked and Lorelei chuckled in his shoulder as a few tears fell down her cheeks.
As far as Christmas goes, this was a pretty good one.
