"WEIRD"
WEIRD: strange/odd/bizarre; That's the only word Lorelei could use to describe the mood of the house, the Order Of The Phoenix had put everyone a bit on the edge, the lighthearted jokes were no longer tossed around during dinner time, even Tonks seemed to be a bit down.
The Marauders™, well 2/4 of the marauders and Aunt Si who still to this day refuses to be a part of James Potter's super secret boy band, were trying their best to ease the tension but Lorelei reckons she's making it tougher for her dad.
Lorelei likes to try and act like she needs something from the kitchen in order to get some information from the order, but Molly Weasley caught on, having too many of her kids that used to do the same and started leaving stuff out in the Hallway for the kids.
George then decided he would take one of his puking pastilles and then get in the kitchen, asking for his mum — Molly Weasley still caught on, she knew when her son was actually sick and when he was faking it.
The kids were running short on ideas and creativity, so when everyone was in the kitchen having dinner, Lorelei decided to pop the question, "So, how's the order meeting going for you guys?"
"Good" Sirene furrowed her eyebrows, giving Lorelei a look.
"Hey, so I had a question about you guys" Lorelei said, leaning over the table to make herself seem more excited, "How old were you guys when you joined the order?"
Sirius mirrored his daughter unconsciously, leaning forward with a glint in his eyes and Sirene and Andrew looked at each other, already knowing what's going to happen, "We were just seventeen! Dumbledore came to us one day, and he asked us, of course Mia and Monty were against it at first, but then they came around the idea of us doing the right thing"
"Oh, please do tell me more" Lorelei spoke, a smile making it's way on her face, Regan and George had to do everything they could not to fall on the floor with laughter.
Look, George Weasley knew Lorelei Black, no matter how both of them would try to deny it right now, but he knew her. He'd spent almost his whole childhood playing around with Lorelei and Birdie, though the game wouldn't always be of his choice it didn't really matter to him as long as him and Lorelei got to be partners.
Like that one time, Lorelei and George had to be pets while Fred and Birdie became the husband and wife and Hope the child, the two kids would always find ways to make each other laugh.
As for Regan, well when you live with someone for fifteen years you know things about them, things that you don't want to know, but you can't forget. Even just thinking about it sends shivers down her spine.
Clearly Sirius doesn't, so he started talking about that stuff excitedly to his daughter, who wasn't going to lie — she was having fun, it was the first time he'd properly spoken to her without making any kind of small talk to get to Harry or Birdie.
"That sounds like so much fun!" Lorelei said in her fake excitement voice, her eyes widening ever so slightly, if she was going to do this — she was going to sell it.
"It was" Sirius beamed at her.
"Hm, how old did you say you were again?"
"Seventeen" Sirius told her, watching the grin on her face grow wider.
"Ah, sounds wonderful, being of age, fighting for the good, being with your friends..." Lorelei sighed, before brightening up, "...Hope, isn't it crazy we're the same age right now?"
"It absolutely is" Hope joined the act, "Sounds like the perfect time to join to order to me"
"No!" Molly Weasley exclaimed, startling everyone especially the three girls who hadn't gotten used to Molly screaming, the redheads at the table shook their head, "You are all children! You're still in school!"
"They were children too!" Lorelei protested, "Come on, we're gonna be responsible with the meetings, and help out whenever we can!"
"No, Molly's right, it's not up for debate!" Sirius said putting his fork down, "You are too young to join the order, Lorelei"
"It's El and I'm the same age you were!" Lorelei frowned, "You just told me joining the order was one of the best experiences of your life!"
"Absolutely not" Sirius scoffed, "You're still in school, not to mention we'd be putting you children to risk if you guys get dangerous information"
"Aunt Si!" Lorelei said turning to look at her aunt who shook her head at the girl, and then at her uncle who pretended to find the peas in his plate interesting, "We are of age, we should be able to choose what we want to do"
"I agree with El" Hope said and her father turned to look at her exasperated, "I want to know what we're up against, no one's gonna coddle us when we get out of school and we aren't magically going to turn mature, it'll happen over time and might as well happen before we're thrown face first in the world"
"Hope, you know you can't join the order" Remus told her, his expression softening when he looked at his daughter, "Trust me when I say this — you'll be better off without the order"
"That's bullshit" Lorelei folded her arms, "You all know we're very capable of handling ourselves we've done it time after time, and I don't know why you have a problem with it when you did the same thing"
"And look at where it got us" Sirius said, his eyes turning dark, "James and Lily are dead" Not. Only a chosen few knew about it, "Marlene, Dorcas, Mary, Jacob and Marie — who the world never got to mourn because their bodies were never found, that's what you'll be putting at stake when you join the order, El. Do you think you could handle going on with life if one of your friends died? Do you?"
🫐
LORELEI BLACK HAD HAD ENOUGH. The house elf would always go around throwing insults at everyone in sight, targeting her, George and Fred, Ginny, basically the whole Weasley clan, her father, her mother and most of all Hope, it was like the bloody creature had sensed her or something.
Lorelei had a soft spot for ill-treated beings, she really did, but there's only so much time she could spend without wanting to shove someone off a cliff.
On a more interesting note though, she'd redecorated her room a little, the old sucky wallpaper was now a blue wall with posters of muggle bands like Queen and ABBA on it, and a record-player that sat on her desk with a case full of vinyls.
Lorelei didn't exactly love it, but it'll have to do.
"Filthy bloodtraitor, changing up my master Regulus's room" Kreacher gave Lorelei the nastiest scowl he could muster, but Lorelei wasn't focusing on what insults he used on her, instead one word rang through her mind.
Lorelei tried to call after the house-elf but he'd already disappeared Merlin knows where, so instead she decided to try something else.
"Hey, grandma" Lorelei pushed the curtains off, and just as Walburga was about to scream Lorelei took out a pocket knife, "Found it in the room I'm staying in, tried to poke a whole through another portrait, it worked, what do you say? You wanna scream or you wanna stay in acrylic form and live to make our lives even a little more miserable?"
"Girl, are you in Slytherin?" Walburga asked looking down at Lorelei who rolled her eyes.
"Ravenclaw, that's not the point" Lorelei put the pocket knife back in her jacket, "The point is, I'm staying in your other son's room, what can you tell me about him?" Lorelei had turned her voice into a whisper, looking around to make sure no one else was there.
"Better than Gryffindor" Walburga sneered, "Before I answer, Lorelei, tell me your blood status"
"Seriously?" Lorelei whispered in surprise, "Are you forgetting I have an enchanted knife in my pocket?"
"Are you forgetting I'm the only one who can answer your questions?" Walburga shot back, Lorelei sighed.
"I'm a pureblood, my mum's not from here, so thank Merlin I'm not inbred like you" Lorelei crossed her arms, "Are you going to tell me now or what?"
"Regulus Arcturus Black..." Lorelei could notice just a hint of sympathy in her grandmother's eyes, "My youngest—"
"El! Come upstairs right now!" Hope yelled, her voice had an excited tone in it, Lorelei groaned as the portrait once again started throwing insults around, with a sour expression she closed the curtains around the portrait, making a mental note to come back.
Lorelei rushed upstairs, "You better be dead or dying by the time I get—" her eyes fell on George and Fred who were holding one ear each that wiggled in their grips, connected with a single string, "Bloody hell"
"We did it!" Ginny chuckled, fist bumping the air, "Honestly, I'm so smart, they owe it to me"
"Modest too" Regan added satirically, Ginny poked her tongue out at the older girl. The two girls would often spend some time together whenever their friends were busy, and go out to buy joke products from Zonko's, Regan was well aware of Ginny's crush and Ginny was well aware of Regan's, but it didn't interfere with their friendship at all somehow, and for that they were thankful.
"This looks amazing" Hope whispered, "Can we try it out?"
"Of course" George passed her one of the ears, and Lorelei the other, "Go on"
Hope pressed the ear to her ear, and Lorelei took the other and placed it near her mouth, whispering a soft, "Hope" Hope giggled with excitement about the ear.
"Let me hear it now" George took the ear from Hope, pressing it against his instead and Lorelei smirked, she had something in her mind.
Instead of whispering like she'd done with Hope, Lorelei took in a deep breath and screamed, "George Fabian Weasley!" startling the redhead completely. George dropped the ear with shock, chasing after the brunette who ran around the house, and taking shelter wherever she could.
