Taehyung lowly growled to himself as he listened to Jeongguk's quick, quiet footsteps disappear. Taehyung guessed he had mastered silence within his movements, hence why he could appear behind you in a split second if you were not aware of your surroundings.
Taehyung looked at the phone on the table. He eyed it wearily. He did technically have permission to play with it. Why not snoop through it instead?
He picked it up, admiring the expensive look to it, no scratches, no cracks, not even a spec of dust on the screen. Only a plain, clear screen.
He opened the phone, the lock screen was also boring, black with one red stripe across the screen horizontally. It bothered him that Joengguk did not have a good lock screen, so he quickly changed that to a beautiful picture that he had just taken actually.
He thought it suited Jeongguk's lock screen much more. Maybe he would change it back, who knows? But for now, he wanted it to stay as his face.
Taehyung was also curious of the pictures Jeongguk might have taken. Like missions, killings, anything that would scare or excite him.
Sadly, it was only selfies that Taehyung found quite funny actually. He decided to put down the phone since that was as much snooping as he could handle, for now, he felt like he was keeping the biggest lie from the mafia leader if he knew what hid on his phone.
Taehyung decided to, instead of sleep, maybe wander around the facility, not before sliding Jeonggukk's phone into his pocket for safe keeping.
Taehyung marched his way down the hallway and into a large room he'd never seen before. It looked busy, felt busy, even sounded busy. Like bees running around and doing work for the mafia. None of them looked happy either, except for Hope, who was guiding people to go on the mission with a contagious, gummy smile on his lips.
"Hey V!" He called, rushing up to him and showing his utmost attention to the poor boy who just wanted to see what this place looked like, not bring all of the attention on himself, which he failed to avoid obviously.
"Why are you out of your cell?"
"I let him roam, don't dig your nose into a story you've never heard, Hope." Jeongguk almost growled at him. Jeongguk never acted very mean to Jin's friend group on the regular, but sometimes he snapped at anyone for just anger release he guessed.
Jeongguk wrapped an arm around Taehyung's waist, looking down at the boy with emotionless eyes, cold and dark. Almost as if he were to snap his neck with the harsh hand that held his waist so tightly.
"Sorry for rejecting your mission request so harshly earlier. It made me mad that you were so careless to volunteer to get yourself killed. I can't have you hurt." Jeongguk chuckled, pulling Taehyung closer with the arm that wrapped around him, while Hope watched in awe. He had never experienced Jeongguk have so much contact with someone before.
Taehyung just shook his head, his gaze shifting lower and lower by the second, so much his head fell down.
"If you do that, you'll hurt your neck." Jeongguk reminded, lifting up his head by his chin with a gentle hand. He removed his grip on the boy and starting to gather everyone into the cars to complete the mission.
Taehyung crossed his arms as Jeongguk neared him again. Jeongguk mimicked the frown on his own lips, gently putting his hands on Taehyung's waist in a comforting matter, but Taehyung jerked away.
"Aw, baby come on."
Taehyung cringed at the term, stepping backward even more, he wanted personal space and even more space from Jeongguk.
"Fine, I tried to reject you easily, but all you people want is the truth. V, want to know why you can't come on the mission? You cannot come on this mission because we are raiding another mafia group, lots of bombs and explosions, and I can't risk you wandering off like a lost puppy and we have to fucking find you, you'll get in the way, okay? Besides, you might try something." Jeongguk growled out in fury.
He was fine with being mean to Taehyung, completely okay, until he saw Taehyung's eyes tear up. He sighed to himself and quickly, before Taehyung could run away, pulled him into an actual embrace, a tight hug.
"I didn't mean that, okay? I don't want you to get hurt, that's the real reason, okay? Now me standing here and wasting time is not on my agenda, so, we can talk about this afterward." Jeongguk informed, standing there to let Taehyung cry into his shoulder.
When Taehyung was calmed down, Jeongguk departed and left; late to his mission.
Jeon Jeongguk was never late to leave for a mission.
Never, until now. Because some things are just more important than missions.
