Nakajima Atsushi x Reader: Beauty and the Beast
Just a little Drabble I thought up in my head. This is also the title I'm planning to use for a potential Atsushi x Reader fanfic. Play on words am I right?
--------------------------------
You first spotted him near the river. After walking on the bridge to get to your own dreary apartment. Just living a very dreary, until you saw him. He never moved from that spot on the river, but he always looked so..sad, no, depressed. You always saw him trespassing around in that place under the bridge, yet you never had the courage to ask who he was, why he was there. You didn't want to seem like a creepy stranger, but somehow every time you cross that bridge you see him just sitting there. There were rumors of a dangerous beast lurking around in that area, you wanted to warn that boy. To save him of the potential danger he was in. But you just stood on near the edge of the bridge just, observing him. The white haired boy, who always say near the riverside.
As you were walking, tired from the entrance exams for your potential future in college, you spotted him again. You finally took a deep breath, cleared your mind, and said what the heck? You walked across the bridge being very cautious of every step you took. You approached the boy carefully, the boy on the other hand looked at you in shock. He backed away, as if he were afraid, afraid of human contact.
"U-Uh, it's ok..I'm not going to harm you in anyway." You said with a soft tone, as if you were talking to a frightened puppy. He looked at you with his own shaky eyes, a little on the wary side. You took this time to observe him carefully. He looked around your ages. His short white hair with a little long bang on the side, his golden irises, his disheveled clothing showing that he was indeed homeless, and the defensive look on his face that looked like he would attack you at any minute. What really caught you were his eyes, they were so hypnotic in a way.
"Uh, why are you staring at me?" He asked in a small voice. You didn't realize you were staring until he brought it up. The sound of his voice brought heat to your cheeks, but you kept a calm look on your face.
"I'm sorry!" You bowed.
"N-no it's fine. So what do you want?" He asked.
"Huh?" You said back blinking.
"I've never seen anyone just decide to come down here for a visit. I don't even know anyone here." He said with a raised brow.
You desperately tried to come up with a reason. Why did you decide to come down to visit this boy? Looking at it logically you had no reason to, you were just an ordinary schoolgirl and he was a stranger. But somehow you were drawn to him strangely, you just had felt a connection.
"Well, I always see you sitting near the riverside. A-And you always looked so lonely and depressed. I thought you don't deserve that so I honestly wanted to visit you I guess." You rambled while playing with your hair awkwardly. The boy just blinked at you. The way you said that brought a sort of, warmth. Warmth he hasn't felt in a long time.
"What's your name?" He asked.
"M-My name?! Oh, it's (L/n) (F/n)." You said and bowed.
"What's yours?" You asked him.
"Nakajima Atsushi." He said quietly avoiding your gaze. He felt a little uncomfortable considering you were the first person to treat him so nicely.
"Um, Nakajima-san may I ask. Why do you always hang out down here?" You asked. He flinched looking down with that depressed gaze again. You panicked seeing you have upset him.
"U-Um you don't need to tell me! I can see how it makes you uncomfortable." You said. He looked at you with a blank gaze while you tried to give him a comfortable smile. You heard a big growl coming from somewhere that made you jump. You then saw Atsushi's face turn a bright red.
"A-Are you perhaps hungry?" You asked. He didn't say anything, but he gave you a small nod.
"I-I didn't eat anything for a couple of days. I only ended up here five days ago." He said with his face still showing embarrassment.
"Well.." You trailed off while you searched your school bag. You found a pack of melon bread that you bought for later, but you can sacrifice at least one snack.
"I have this. You can have it." You said and offered him the melon bread. He looked at you with wide eyes.
"I-Is it really ok?" He stammered.
"I'm not going to let you starve. You're way too young to be homeless and starving." You reasoned. He reached out hesitantly, once he met your face he snatched the melon bread and ravaged it. You smiled at how he looked a little happy now that he got food. Once he finished he looked at away from you, you were confused until you heard him sniff. You walked around to see his face and you saw him fully crying. Big tears slid down his face onto the soil.
"Uh, what's wrong?!" You asked, once again panicking. You reached for a handkerchief in your pocket, and wiped his eyes. He held your hands to stop your actions, which made you confused.
"Y-Your too nice, I-I don't d-deserve this." He said in between sobs. You looked at his expression that showed something broken. A child who has lost everything, even hope. You performed a bold move and held his face in your hands.
"Don't say that now, you do deserve it. I don't know what happened in your past but you deserve every act of kindness you get. I can feel that you're a good person even if it doesn't seem that way. It might sound strange coming from someone you just met, but your not bad enough to not deserve it. And something good will come to you in the future." You said with a slight determined tone. He listened to your little speech, and even more tears started sliding down his slightly dirty face. He fell onto your shoulder sobbing, and you blushed slightly on the contact. You felt awkward once more while trying to comfort the boy.
---------------------------
From that day onward you kept visiting Atsushi for at least two weeks. You brought tiny snacks with you along with telling him stories that happened in your school. You two slowly developed a friendship from this. He also started smiling a little more when you started visiting more. Your smile, your laugh, the way you looked at him, he felt nothing but warmth from it. He started to feel something he never felt all his life, joy. Positive feelings always invaded his brain once you came down to the riverside. He even started to develop a lot of trust to you, that he explained some stories from his past. As you guessed it he was an orphan left to fend for himself.
"Hey, have you heard the stories of the tiger sightings?" You asked.
He flinched at the mention of the tiger remembering the old news that happened back at his orphanage. He didn't want you to know that though.
"What's wrong? Why did you flinch?" You asked. His eyes wandered everywhere trying to come up with something to say.
"Atsushi-san, seriously what is it?" You asked.
"I-It's just t-that I once saw the tiger roaming in this area. It was a pretty frightening encounter." He said.
Your eyes widened as you began to feel more panicked.
"R-Really?! Did you get hurt?!" You asked. He blushed slightly at your concern.
"N-No luckily I was able to avoid it." He said to which you breathed out a sigh of relief.
"Oh good, I thought you got hurt. I wouldn't want that." You suddenly blushed at your little slip, and Atsushi followed with his cheeks turning pink.
"Hey, (F/n)...would you really be sad if I disappeared?" He asked.
"Of course I would!" You exclaimed a little surprised he asked that.
"Even if I seem like the biggest mess up out there? Even if I don't think I don't deserve a place on this Earth?" He asked. His pessimism started to rise again as his eyes darkened.
"Yes, I would be devastated! I don't want you to disappear! I love you you know!" You yelled at him loudly. Both of your eyes widened at the declaration you just announced really loudly. He stared at you in disbelief as your fave turned completely red and you faced away in shame.
"I-I, uh..." You stuttered while you covered your face in embarrassment. You stood up suddenly too overwhelmed with emotion.
"A-Atsushi-san, I'm going to go now. I-I have e-exams tomorrow. Bye!" You exclaimed and started running. You wanted to cry, lock yourself in your room because of how you embarrassed yourself. He might think you were weird now, but no matter how much you denied it you developed a sense of love with the homeless boy you met just two weeks ago.
Atsushi on the other hand watched you run, he felt some foreign feeling in his chest. Your little declaration made his heart race, not only that, it beat harder than it did when he just talked to you normally. Maybe...he felt the same way you did, but his pessimistic way of thinking conflicted with his feelings.
--------------------------
You walked back to the riverside feeling bad that you just abandoned him like that. But you just felt really confused after what you said that running seemed like the only option. You sighed once you reached the riverside and searched for the white haired boy. You didn't see him, which was strange because he always waited for you here. Once you checked near the bridge you heard a growl.
"Atsushi-san, are you hungry aga-" You started wide eyed at the shadow of a beast started stalking from under the bridge. You froze as your heart started beating erratically, and adrenaline started flooding you. It was the tiger you heard so much about, and it was looking straight at you. The fact that Atsushi wasn't here meant two things, he either escaped or he got killed you really hoped it wasn't option two. You backed away slowly out of straight fear, but the tiger stalked towards you still. You knew of you made a run for it, that the beast would chase you. But you had no type of defense so running was the best option. You picked up a rock near your foot, and with all your strength threw it at the tiger's eye. It roared as if in pain, and then you sprinted out of there.
'So the tiger does show up here. Atsushi-san please, I hope you escaped.' You pleaded inside your head. You suddenly felt a heavy force push you down, you screamed as you saw the menacing expression on the white tigers face.
"No! I'm sorry! Don't eat me!" You screamed.
'Atsushi-san!' You chanted his name as a sort of prayer. That he would save you, or rather calm yourself down by thinking of him. The tiger just stared at you with its golden orbs, you stared back at it feeling something familiar. The it roared loudly before roaring and running away. You sat up watching it run, clutching your heart, and also having tears of extreme fear run down your face. You decided to get out of the riverside area before it came back.
---------------------------------
You decided to stray away from that area for about a week, even taking a different route to your house. All throughout that time, you thought about Atsushi and the rising fear that the tiger really did kill him. You missed seeing him, and taking to him. He really brought some sort of joy to your ordinary school life, and he was the only boy that you confessed to. Once you stepped out of school you immediately went to the convenience store because you needed some snacks while you studied. You went all the way into the city, and once there you picked up a couple packs of melon bread. You smiled as the melon bread gave you a nostalgic feeling, the first meeting you had with the white haired boy. You walked out of the convenience store satisfied and started walking down the street.
As you walked down the street, you saw something that made your eyes widen. A familiar head of white hair just a few feet away from you. You felt your feet start to run to the person, and you tugged on his white dress shirt as you reached up to him.
"H-Hey?! Wh-" The boy cut himself off as he saw you. The familiar warm person he met back at the riverside.
"(F/n)?" He breathed out.
"Hello Atsushi-san." You greeted. You wanted to cry after finally finding a person you thought so much about. A person very precious to you. He looked a lot more healthy than when you first saw him.
"I see you've been eating a lot." You said giggling. He blinked a couple of times before smiling and engulfing you in a hug.
"Jeez you surprised me. I missed seeing you." He said.
"Me too, you worried me." You said with your voice cracking.
He let go of you, and rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
"Yeah, well a lot happened the past week." He said.
"Care to explain? Come on let's go into the café." You said and started pulling him. You and Atsushi started reminiscing on the past while he also explained his whole situation concerning the Detective Agency. You smiled the whole time, finally finding the boy you that had occupied your thoughts for a while now. The boy on the other hand smiled back, finally he found his warmth, what helped him rise from the depths of despair. The two looked at each other lovingly, their own gazes showing the tale between the beauty and the beast.
A/N: Bleeeech I felt that ending was rushed but I put in too many words. I just wanted to get this idea down, it's based off the first episode and first chapter just changed up a bit. Anyone can request anything because requests are open.
