- protagonist who came to the city to be a detective after everyone in his family was murdered; so now he swears to catch the killer and trained hard for this very dayᵀᴹ

- he catches the perp to one of the biggest crimes in history anyways

- doesn't have enough money to buy a new coat/a better suit

- drinks cheap coffee/canned coffee

dazai

- the guy who shows up in the office only when the others are stuck/when the others can't find any more leads

- probably notorious for frequenting cabaret clubs in ginza and his workmates would go there to find him

- is actually a rich bocchan or something but was cast away by his father for his "disgrace to the family" attitude

- loves his mom

kunikida

- doesn't go out with co-workers to drink

- probably that guy whose best bud died in the line of work to save his reckless ass so now he's strictly upholding the rules to the point he seems like a control freak

- everyone talks about his sad backstoryᵀᴹ after a while or sth

- he shields atsushi from the criminal's gun at some point and gets his leg shot fatally instead so bye bye martial arts

yosano

- that one woman in every detective office no one can get attracted to bc they've been working together for so long

- always disappointed when they aren't told to bring weapons

- always on duty. goes shopping on duty.

- there would probably be rumors about something going on between her and kunikida, but atsushi walks in on something he shouldn't have seen and finds out yosano isn't exactly attracted to men (i mean novelist yosano was a feminist so i'm going with the thought that she probably sees her co-workers as pigs idk)

ranpo (still a genius)

- just likes using the walkie-talkie instead of a phone to communicate so everyone carries a talkie with them as well

- doesn't go out of the office often but would always be there to help load the perp to a police car at the end of a case

- moral support when he's not indoors during a chase

- shares his snacks when someone is sad

kenji

- in charge of menial tasks and knocking on people's doors for an investigation since he'd probably make them feel at ease???

- is not good at questioning people but can detect lies like a machine most of the time so they always bring him along when an interrogation is to take place as well

- country boy detective who was transferred to the city by recommendation

- optimistic but can be lenient on criminals. got his vitals shot twice for leaving a criminal unsupervised but he was luckily wearing a bulletproof vest at that time so the damage wasn't severe.

tanizaki

- the guy who became a detective right after highschool. he's working to have his sister finish education so he couldn't go to uni.

- family died in an earthquake and his relatives were assholes ig

- that one guy who makes coffee for everyone but that all changed when atsushi arrived lol

- kunikida bought him his suit

fukuzawa

- ofc he's the boss

- probably has bottled ships in his office

- atsushi and tanizaki once brought in a lost cat intending to find its owner and he got attached. cat didn't like him tho

- pays his employees well ameno dorime

kyouka (not a worker)

- probably would be that one girl a criminal gang had taken hostage?

- she would end up in the hands of the ADA; they'd be visiting her in the hospital after they had rescued her

- reminds atsushi of her little sisterᵀᴹ so he feels obligated to protect her

- she'd have "spunk" despite being so quiet so i guess she'd start training or something then end up in the ADA after a few years in a spinoff or a timeskip

naomi would also not be a worker in this AU but she would probably establish her own shop in the future, which would be beneficial to the agency her brother works in? maybe a restaurant, or a gadget modification kinda store??? but that's a little too suspicious maybe?

anyways she'd be a form/pillar of support somehow. i initially thought "hacker" lol but her brother probably wouldn't want that? well maybe she could be a "part-time hacker" lol or a secret one but that's still p dangerous ( ´｡•~•｡' )ʃ) bakery was an option but she doesn't seem the type? idk lol but bakery/cake shop would be good tho. imagine she just visits once in a while to provide free sweets and it refreshes everyone in the office not knowing she's also a bit of a yosano lol.
