"Still With You"
𝔸𝕌𝕋ℍ𝕆ℝ: @mochiixjimin
ℙℝ𝕆𝕄ℙ𝕋: Two people are introduced, but they have already met and won't admit it.
𝔸𝕌𝕋ℍ𝕆ℝ'𝕊 ℕ𝕆𝕋𝔼: This isn't my best work, however I had a lot of fun writing a more light-hearted and fun story. The story I've published on my page and the ones I'm working on are a lot darker and filled with twists and 'Still With You' is a LOT different than my usual stuff but I like it. I was inspired by the song so naturally I named it. I think it's a great representation of the song (at least in my head).

Lia took a large bite off her croissant and fumbled with her keys. She tried her best to lock her apartment door up. Her hands were completely full and she could hear the clanging of some of her items as they fell on the floor. After, successfully closing her door Lia let out a huff and picked everything up before plunging them back into her tote bag.
She woke up late and if she wasn't back at the company in fifteen minutes she would be tardy for her meeting with the new singers' manager. She told Hoseok that it was a bad idea to go drinking at that bar after their coffee date the previous night but he had begged her and then dragged her there. Now, she was on the brink of getting fired from her beloved job.
Lia ran down the stairs and dashed out the door. Usually she would walk to work with Hoseok and they would grab drinks while gossiping about the events that occurred in the company, but today she knew that her 'Hobi' had fled to work before her.
She couldn't blame him because she was doing the exact same thing.
As she got out she looked around the sides of her apartment and finally spotted it. Her trusty steed. Strutting towards the item Lia lifted the cloth over it to reveal a dusty motorbike that she hadn't used in months.
Lia hoped that she would still have the hang of it and threw her leg over the seat and straddled the shiny black bike before putting her keys in the ignition. A deep rumble resonated through the narrow street and Lia winced before pressing on the gas and zooming past her apartment and onto the messy streets of Paris.
Lia had abandoned her bike for a long time and now that she was on it again she was surprised at herself. How could she have left such a freeing feeling? She would definitely have to start using it again. As she zoomed past the cars a refreshing feeling filled her lungs and every breath she took left her heart feeling lighter and lighter.
It was a sif her head was in the clouds. . .
FLASHBACK
"Get your head out of the clouds, Lia."
Jungkook giggled and threw a piece of his chips at her. Lia shook out of her daze and whipped her head toward the boy who had so shamelessly disrupted her 'zoning-out session'. Upon seeing her angry countenance, the raven haired boy laughed even harder.
It was hearty and so full that it swelled up Lia's chest with so much love.
His nose scrunched up, making him look like a tiny bunny, with his slightly bucked teeth adding to the look.
Lia reached out with her arms and snuggled into him without remorse. She squeezed his waist and Jungkook hugged her back just as hard. Lia chuckled and looked up at the boy she had become so fond of. She stared into his chocolate brown eyes and suddenly the playfulness between the two evanesced.
The ruffle of the trees around them was a lot more evident and so was the feeling of both their hearts beating towards each other.
Their chests perfectly aligned.
Their hearts perfectly in sync. Reaching forward to each other with every waking beat.
His back was pressed against the tree he was leaning on to and Lia's face inched closer and closer. The proximity so small that she could feel his minty breath on her rosy lips.
Closer.
And closer.
Until, there was no space left.
When their lips finally touched. Fitting perfectly against each other. Like a puzzle piece their bodies aligned and their lips meshed into a beautiful song of their own making..
Slowly opening his mouth Jungkook led her into the kiss. Encouraging her to move her luscious lips and she did. Their mouths moved rhythmically as they made their own melody.
The kiss was breathtaking.
So much that Lia had to pull away and catch her breath. "Wow." Jungkook sputtered and Lia felt a deep crimson travel from the base of her neck all the way to the tips of her ears. "I'm sorry- I just...I shouldn't have done that." She said and slowly started to pull away before Jungkook grabbed her arms and pulled her down to crash into his chest once more.
"Don't say that." He said and tucked a stray piece of Lia's messy red locks hair behind her ear. "Don't say that when you know the words break my heart." Jungkook pulled her into the crook of his neck when he said this. Lia's nose nuzzled into the comforting warmth of Jungkook and she inhaled his scent.
Peaches and cream.
"Don't say that when you know I want you to be mine. My Lia." A soft mumble into her hair before he landed a kiss to the crown of her head.
My Lia.
My Lia.
My Lia.
END OF FLASHBACK
Lia was startled by the memory.
It had been seven year, her memories buried deep.
So why now?
She wondered where he was at this moment. What he did as an occupation and if he still remembered her. If he did he probably hated her, she would hate herself too. She wondered if he was married with kids that he loved with his whole heart.
All those thoughts consumed her and she couldn't help but feel like she had completely betrayed him. Every time she closed her eyes she imagined how his bright doe eyes would look when she told him that she loved him. She imagined how those glittering eyes and how they would lose their colour in the morning.
Or maybe he was fine with it. Maybe he was leading her on only to break her heart. Lia chose not to believe in this but it was possible. She would never know, because she would never see him again.
Lia was scared that it would happen. But then again, she brought this upon herself.
The wind danced through her hair and washed over her face. The streets were slowly filling up from the businessmen and women who were trying to get to work. The florists who opened their shops at ungodly hours and the boutique owners who woke up early to greet enthusiastic tourists.
Lia spotted the building she was way too accustomed with and parked on the side of the road. As she got off the bike, Lia spotted Hoseok pacing into the building with a sleek red suit and a pair of shades. 'He might be late but Hoseok will never be caught red handed by the fashion police.' Lia thought to herself and chuckled. She decided not to stop him, knowing that he was also late.
Walking into the building Lia is stopped by an extremely tall man. He towered over her and gave her a large smile, displaying his pearly white teeth. "Hugo, how can I help you today?" she asked in French and gave him a smile back. "Mr. Min and Mr. Jeon are arriving in five minutes, Miss. I suggest you get your stuff ready before Madame Burdette finds you. She's already fuming." Hugo warned her and Lia clasped her hands together and gave him a thanks before running up to her floor and dropping all her stuff on her desk and grabbing her pen and her black notebook.
Lia looked at her reflection through the black screen of her computer and leaned down to fix a few strands of her loose hair and nodded at her reflection before walking towards a conference room where her, Mr. Min and Mr. Jeon would have a meeting. Since the program was taken back a week they had to do yet another briefing for the schedule.
Mr. Jeon was a famous singer, he really popped off after his song 'Still With You' debuted no.1 on the Billboard charts. Lia never really cared to listen to him, or check him out. She was more of a classic rock girl herself. His company had decided to hold the shoot at Golden Closet, Lia's company and she was in charge of the clothes.
'Why did they even decide to do the shooting a week earlier? And why would they tell the company last minute? That's just extremely irresponsible.' Lia ranted in her head as she swirled in a random chair inside the room. Just as she was fully zoning out a door opening echoed throughout the large room.
Lia sat up quickly and bowed down to the man in front of her. He was about the same height as her, maybe just a bit taller and he was slim. His milky white skin contrasted with his black suit.
Smiling slightly he bowed back down. Lia noticed that his eyes beautifully crinkled and his mouth spread out wide to display his gums. "Are you...Mr. Jeon?" she asked, her left brow raised up in confusion. The blonde male chuckled and shook his head furiously. "No, no I am not. I'm Mr. Min Yoongi, his manager. Nice to meet you Miss D'Amore." he said while holding his hand out towards Lia. A blush appeared on the girls' cheeks soshe took his hand in hers and shook it softly.
"Nice to meet you too." she said timidly and gave him a smile before sitting down on a chair, ushering him to sit on one as well. He took out his phone and computer and Lia did the same, a curious expression laced in her features that caught Mr. Min's attention.
"A colleague of yours is showing Mr. Jeon around. He'll be back in no time. So please, let's continue." he says to her and Lia only nods. Deep down Lia was starting to get angry. 'Why would the imbecile decide to go on a company tour right before a meeting?' Lia was questioning these things in her head as she got out the schedule and took a deep breath in. 'At least his manager is somewhat responsible.' she thought and was able to calm down.
Mr. Min leaned over the table and looked down at the schedule. "I'm glad we were able to spread the schedule out. If it wasn't for our last minute decision everything would've been a lot more stressful for Mr. Jeon." he spoke softly, Lia rolled her eyes subtly at his comment about the singer. "Yes and so the photoshoot was delayed 'till next week on Tuesday and Wednesday. We have the fitting on Saturday. The interview with our magazine will be on Thursday." Lia spoke and pointed to the designated spots on the schedule.
"Yes i understand. This is perfect but--"
"So, what did I miss?" The man that walked in asked. Lia looked up at him and her eyes widened.
"Kookie?" she asked the tall male. He was dressed in fitted pants and platform boots with a grey turtleneck sweater with a long black trench coat. His hair was slightly longer and a lot curlier. Lia's breath got stuck in her throat when she saw him lower her gaze at her, his soft and playful look soon turned into one of recognition.
He didn't seem happy.
Even if Jungkook's gaze was cunning when he looked at her, Lia still remembered the doe eyes, she wouldn't be able to miss them if she tried. His gaze had darkened and his features hardened.
"I'm sorry, do I know you?" he asked, clearly offended by the nickname she used. Even Mr. Min was taken aback and he curiously gazed at his dazed expression. He sat down with a huff, completely avoiding Lia's gaze, not that she was trying to look into his eyes.
The smaller girl leaned over the table and slid over the paper to the pair in front of her, this time she was shaking more than ever. Her hands quickly retreated and she kept her gaze on Mr. Min and Mr. Min only. Her heart thumped against her chest and she felt like crying. A lump formed in her throat and she tried her best to swallow it down but it wouldn't budge. It grew bigger and bigger until she felt like she couldn't breath.
Guilt.
Regret.
Shame.
All those feelings resurfaced. The bottled up emotions came up her throat to suffocate her. She felt tears prick in her eyes. They stung like small blades, it was almost blinding and she tried her best to contain them but a small whimper left her mouth.
Lia suddenly stood up, catching Mr. Min's attention. He looked up at her with a subtle smile but the man next to him paid her no mind, peering at the schedule as if trying to memorise it. "If you'll excuse me, I'll be right back." she managed to let out and walked out of the conference room with her hand clutched over her mouth. She didn't want anyone to hear her whimpers as she made a beeline for the bathroom.
Opening the door she sighed in relief seeing that no one was there and locked it. She leaned up against the door. Seeing his face after so long caused a waterfall of emotions to bubble up from the depths of Lia's heart.
There was a reason she couldn't keep a relationship for over a month. There was a reason she couldn't commit to people and that reason was sitting in the conference room, with his manager, reading the schedule she prepared for him.
The feeling in her heart was overwhelming. She couldn't handle it. Lia knew this was her fault, but it didn't change the fact that what happened during that summer hurt her too.
It hurt her because she knew she was wrecking her lovers heart.
Her first love.
❧
Jungkook stared wide-eyed at the wooden table. He was utterly shocked to hear the nickname said to him in the same sweet voice from seven years ago again. He was shaking from the inside but he wouldn't show it. He wouldn't let his guard down, not again.
So he did what he did best, block out his emotions.
"Jungkook, are you paying attention?" his manager, Yoongi, snapped at him and Jungkook flinched. His round doe eyes turned into a scowl as he peered at the smaller man. Jungkook cleared his throat and leaned back in his chair nonchalantly. "Yeah yeah, follow the program, behave, get the money. Yoongi, we've been over this so many fucking times seriously-" Jungkook got cut-off when the door slammed open and the small woman walked in.
Lia strutted over to her seat with confident steps and Jungkook's gaze faltered. She was fine? Did she really not feel guilty for leaving him? Jungkook scoffed and threw his head back in annoyance. Listening in on their conversation, Jungkook caught Lia's flat tone and his blood boiled in his veins.
'I'll make her fucking regret everything.' he thought and clenched his jaw. His head was clouded by anger and he couldn't see his heart.
The heart that longed for the nostalgia.
"-glad that we could make this arrangement last minute. Again I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. It'll be great working with you." Jungkook rolled his eyes at the words his manager uttered and tapped his foot against the floor impatiently.
"I'm so happy to be a part of this project with Mr. J-Jeon." Lia cursed at the stutter in her sentence and stood up quickly, trying to distract the others from her slip-up. "I hope to see you tomorrow." Lia reached out to shake their hands and her hand slightly trembled when holding Jungkook's. He tugged on her arm and when Yoongi wasn't looking he whispered into her ear.
"Stay here when we leave. We need to talk." Jungkook spat in her ear and Lia could feel the anger radiate off him. She gulped and nodded.
Watching them leave the small girl felt a weight lift off her beating heart but she knew he'd be back in just a few minutes.
She laced her sweaty fingers together and waited for him.
Suddenly the door opened but it wasn't a loud entrance, no, Jungkook walked in extremely subtly and as soon as Lia noticed she stood up.
"Mr. Jeon, I-"
"Cut the bullshit, Lia." The tall man snarled out and walked to stand in front of her with hasty steps. He placed his hands one table behind her, trapping her in between his muscular arms. His eyes danced with her, both of the individuals trying to understand each other's feelings.
Jungkook stared deeply into Lia's emerald eyes.
Lia stared back, boring into the pair of Bambi eyes.
Jungkook looked away angrily and clenched his jaw. He was furious with her and she could sense it. He looked like he could easily punch a whole through the wall and not even flinch. "You have quite the nerve to stand in front of me like this Lia. Acting all innocent." he said and pushed himself off the table.
Lia's eyes softened. "It was a meeting, Kookie-"
"Don't fucking call me that!" he yelled and Lia flinched. He looked scary and sadistic all riled up like this. "I'm sorry..." she mumbled and took slow steps towards the man that was clenching his fists, holding himself back.
"Sorry for what? For leaving me? For hurting me? For making fall blindly in love when you clearly didn't reciprocate anything? For lying to me?" He said sternly and Lia could see him get red in the face. Her eyes widened at Jungkook's words. How could he think she never loved him? Of course she did. It broke her apart to learn that for the past seven years he thought she lied to him about everything. Lia leaned in and grabbed Jungkook's forearm.
"No. No, you're wrong. I didn't lie, Ko-" before she could finish her sentence Jungkook snatched his arm away from her hold. That simple movement caused a pain in her heart. For the first time in years she actually felt the emptiness their separation caused her. Lia couldn't even imagine how hard it must've been for Jungkook.
She was in pain. Her heart felt heavy and it felt as if she couldn't breath. Her throat was clogged up and she was feeling dizzy.
"How could you say that!" Lia yelled finally.
Jungkook's eyes widened, startled by the sudden tone.
"I don't need an explanation from you." he said harshly and turned away,
"Listen to me!" she yelled once again and Jungkook halted in his steps. "How could you say that? How could you say that when I loved you, and I showed you. Jungkook I gave my all to you, do you know how much I mourned, how much it hurt. My heart broke everyday. I still cry when I see that damned yellow jacket in the corner of my closet, and I cry thinking of how much I hurt you."
At this point both of them were crying, Lia's voice broke every word and Jungkook's breath hitched after every few seconds.
"You have my jacket?" he asked incredulously, he always thought she played with him, only to leave after.
"Of course. I always kept it. My mom wanted to give it away but I held on to it even when the vibrant color turned to a dull yellow."
They were closer now, chest pressed up.
"You said you wouldn't leave me."
FLASHBACK
'tick'
'tick'
'tick'
Lia groaned at the constant ticking of her clock. She turned around in her bed, the sheets sliding up and in between her leg. She lay on her back, staring up at the white ceiling of her grandmothers house. She draped her arm over her forehead to at least try to drown out the ticking of her clock. They just would not go away...They were louder than usual to. Lia's eyebrows furrowed and sat up in her bed, the worn-out bedsprings screeching in the quiet room. Her eyes tried to scan the pitch black atmosphere but she couldn't focus on anything.
She reached out to her left to grab her clock from the windowsill. Her hand patted on the small surface and she dropped a few things on the hard wood floor, wincing as they made contact with a loud bang. Just as she grabbed her clock the ticking stopped and Lia was confused but she still sighed in relief. She grabbed the comforter and slowly pulled it over her small frame. She was about to put her head on her pillow, engulfing a very much needed rest when a knock on her window made her jump out of bed.
Lia ruffled her hair and reached out to the window. She opened the window very slightly and looked out of the small crack she created. "Who is that?" she whispered. She wasn't really scared of what could be behind the glass barrier, she was more scared of her mother waking up.
"Boo!"
Lia leaned back in surprise. She could recognize that voice anywhere. It was soulful and sweet. It was Jungkook's. She didn't expect him to be here. Why would she? It was two in the morning. Usually they would get back home at this hour, she would sneak in through her window and her mother would give her nasty looks at breakfast but she would never ask questions. Today, however they couldn't. Lia was leaving the next day and she had to pack. She only saw Jungkook in the morning for and hour or two and left to go home with a lousy excuse that probably made questions appear in Jungkook's head.
She didn't tell him about her departure. She wasn't sure why...probably because she knew it would hurt him. She wasn't sure if they would come back the next year, her grandmother was going to move out. It hurt her to know that they may never see each other again and it hurt her even more knowing that if they did he would hate her. For leaving him without so much as a goodbye...
That thought alone made tears prick in the back of Lia's eyes.
"Baby, is something wrong?" Jungkook asked as he climbed in through the window. Lia shook her head and put on a soft smile to not worry him. When Jungkook sully entered Lia took in his appearance.
White shirt.
Blue jeans.
Timberlands.
And his yellow sweater with the black collar.
Lia smiled at him and grabbed his hand, pulling him close to her and sitting them both on the bed. "What are you doing here?" she asked him, slowly pulling his sweater off, "It's late, you should be home, Kookie." she said and finally pulled his jacket off of him, tossing it to the side as Jungkook wrapped his strong arms around her, pulling both of them down on the ruffled bed.
The boys hands went up to Lia's hair and he undid the hair tie that held her hair strands together. His fingers combed through her thick hair and he pulled her close. His chin rested on her head and her nose brushed against his adams apple with every sudden move. "Can't I visit my girlfriend when I miss her?" he asked and Lia could almost see the smile on his face from the tone of his voice.
Lia giggled and shook her head. "There's no problem in that but...no sane person would visit their girlfriends at two in the morning." Lia said teasingly. Jungkook placed a finger underneath the girls chin and lifted her head up, staring deeply in to her sparkling eyes. "I guess I'm not a very sane person then?" he said and they both giggled.
"Lia." he said, after their smiles died down. Lia's breath hitched in her throat, noticing the worry in tone. She tried to keep her expression the same and hummed at him, urging him to continue. "I feel like you're distancing yourself from me..." Jungkook said, his voice wavering slightly, showing his obvious hurt about the situation.
Lia's eyebrows furrowed, "Why would you think that?" she mumbled, a frown forming on her face. Jungkook cradled her jaw, pulling her even closer so that their noses touched. He pressed his lips into a small line. He hated seeing her frown.
"J-Just never leave me, Lia." he said and a lump formed in his throat.
"Never."
"I love you, Lia."
"I love you more."
"I love you most."
That night, when Jungkook escaped from the window, he left his jacket with Lia.
Lia took it home with her, wearing it occasionally to remember the sweet summer of 2012. Later on, she buried it deep in her closet just like she buried her memories deep into her mind.
However it hadn't occurred to her that she hadn't only taken his favourite jacket,
but also his heart.
END OF FLASHBACK
"I know, baby, I do. But how-"
His lips slammed onto Lia's.
God had she missed this. His lips on hers, moving so passionately against each other, as if they hadn't ever been separated. Her hands rested on the back of his neck, pulling him in closer and closer. Jungkook's hand cradled her neck, wanting to feel her skin against his.
Once they pulled away, they were breathless.
They stared into each other's eyes, blissful memories flooding through both their minds.
2 Years Later
Lia walked out onto their balcony that looked out into the outskirts of a small town of Italy, a town they knew all too well. She wrapped the sheets around her naked body a little tighter once the breeze hit her. She was just coming down from her incredible high and feeling the fresh wind on her bare skin was a little too much.
Jungkook noticed her from the corner of her eyes and smiled, opening his arms to incite her to sit on his lap. Lia complied of course and nuzzled herself into Jungkook.
"Baby..." he groaned into her ear and Lia turned around, only to be met with a sweaty Jungkook. She pushed his hair out of his face, getting a good look of his chiseled jaw and eyes.
Jungkook brought his nose close and swiped it across hers repeatedly, something they would do often. Jungkook thought it was more intimate then their passionate love-making but Lia just thought it was the cutest thing ever.
Lia mindlessly played with the ring adorning her thin fingers. The costy rock didn't really matter to her, but what did was the way he proposed. She was invited on stage during his concert in Rome and he proposed to her in front of everyone.
God it was so magical.
Lia found herself zoning out and Jungkook giggled. "Baby, do you remember how we first met?" he asked, Jungkook often liked to ask these things.
Observing how Lia would tell the story each time. If she would change it and how many emotions would run through the abyss of her eyes.
"Kookie..."
But she never resisted.
FLASHBACK
"Lia, come help me with the bags!" Lia's mom yelled out from the driveway. She held onto her waist and leaned back, waiting for her daughter to come out and acknowledge her.
With a huff, Lia dropped her backpack in her designated room. Walking out of her room she noticed the interior of the walls. She hadn't really been paying attention when running in but now that she was walking at a reasonable pace she noticed how beautiful the place looked.
Lia was extremely happy, for the past few years she wasn't able to see her grandma and it was taking a toll on her. Her Nonna used to come to visit her in Virginia but that stopped about five years ago.
"Lia!" her mom announce again, "I'm not asking again, if you don't--"
"I'm here momma no need to get angry." The small girl said, but the scowl on her face was evident. She walked up to her mom and tucked her hands into the big pockets of her overalls. The jean material slightly lowered and the yellow striped shirt under them shifted. "What do I bring in?" the girl asked, looking around helplessly.
She was scared of grabbing the wrong thing, in the wrong way and her mom getting angry.
"Take these to the kitchen. Nonna should be there so give them to her." Lia's mom held out a basket filled with peaches. Lia knew Nonna loved peaches so they had picked some up from the market on their way. They looked perfectly ripe and even Lia's mouth watered looking at them.
Walking into the house she saw the flowers and leaves growing from the cracks of the beige brick walls of the house. The refreshing smell of rain relaxed Lia.
"Nonna?" she yelled out as she got closer to what she thought was the kitchen. She heard clattering from inside and the slight laugh that was all too familiar to her ears. Goosebumps prickled on the delicate skin of her arms and she ran in the kitchen and came face to face with her grandmother.
"Nonna!" yelled Lia and ran into the arms of the small woman. She snuggled into her chest and inhaled the faint smell of coffee. "I miss you." she said, smiling into her grandmother's floral dress.
Being in the arms of her Nonna caused Lia's heart to blossom. The two formed a strong bond and whenever they separated Lia's heart would close up like a sunflower losing its sun because the sun of Lia's life was her grandmother.
"I miss you too, dolcezza" her grandmother said softly. Lia could hear the tenderness in her voice and that was what opened her up again. It felt like a weight lifted off her shoulders and she could finally breathe again after years.
She really did miss her Nonna.
Pulling away from the warm embrace of her grandmother, Lia sighed. A small smile danced on her face as she set the basket of fresh peaches on the counter. "Nonna, we brought you peaches. I'd love to sit and eat here with you but I think I need to unpack" Lia muttered and her grandmother nodded her head slowly, her smile lines a lot more defined.
She stretched out her hand towards Lia's head and slowly stroked the silky black hair. "Okay but I need you to bring me something from the shed." she started and pulled away. "There should be a few empty jars in a box. Can you bring them to me? I want to make jam." she said and plopped the basket of peaches on the white table in the middle of the room.
"Okay, Nonna. I'll be back in a second" Lia muttered and grabbed a peach and put it in her pocket before running off into the large garden.
It wasn't the kind of garden you would see in the back of any house. Usually, gardens are neat, every colour looks good with each other. The lilies are in one corner and the roses are in another but in Lia's grandmother's garden, things were different.
This was absolute chaos. Everything was intertwined with each other and the colours mismatched. The overwhelming mix of smell was mind numbing in the most relaxing way. The disarray of plants overflowed the fence and probably leaped over outside the house. There was a single bench in the middle and a pond right in front of it. Nonna would tell stories about the pond and how she dug it up on her own, wanting to fix the garden but after putting the koi fish how she had given up. Lia didn't mind because she thought that messy was real. Unlike the 'perfect' gardens back home.
Walking into the shed, Lia realized it was quite dusty. The little room was small and Lia didn't think another person would be able to fit in with her. Looking around she noticed the boxes and containers with different things in it. It was like a junk drawer. Finally spotting the empty jars, Lia walked over to the left side of the shed and reached out her hand. She realized that she wasn't tall enough to get it, she climbed up on a shelf and reached out.
Grabbing the box she wobbled slightly on the loose shelf. Quickly getting down she sighed. "I could've broken the jars" she mumbled and shook her head.
Heading out if the shed Lia suddenly hit an object. Looking down at it she couldn't make out what it was. Bending down the girl pushed away the leaves that covered it and found a white bicycle. It looked pretty old and it was clearly worn out.
Lia quickly pulled it out of the grass and decided she would take this with her. 'I could go out for a drive by the beach and maybe sketch some' she thought and smiled to herself. 'That's a great idea.'
Walking into the house after leaving the bike outside by the door Lia walked over to the kitchen and saw her mother and Nonna conversing. Walking it she set the box of jars on the counter next to the peaches and turned to the pair.
"I'm done Nonna. Oh, and I might go out for a bicycle ride by the seashore if that's okay?" she asked while dusting her hands on her jean overalls. The last question was directed towards her mom. She knew her mom wanted her to unpack and get ready but now Lia had other plans. Pleading at her mom with her eyes, Lia's lower lip unintentionally popped out, forming a pout.
"Okay, sure but be back before it's too dark." Lia's mom said but before she could even utter out all the words Lia was dashing through the door and running up to her room.
Lia grabbed her backpack, which was small and orange, perfect to store her sketchbook and pens. Throwing the bag over her shoulder she ran out of the house in a second and grabbed her bike.
Slinging her leg around it she quickly started pedalling, hoping to catch the sunset. It was easy to find her way around because her grandmother basically lived by the beach but she still had to look out for cars.
There weren't many people out as it was getting close to dinner time and families were sitting down for a meal in the comfort of their homes. Lia pushed the bike quickly, turning the pedals fast enough to pass the cars that were out. She felt her leg muscles burning. The tight muscles worked harder than they had in a long time. Continuing to move faster and faster the long black hair that was previously resting on the girls shoulders was now swimming in the wind, dancing as the gushes of air linked through the thick strands.
The road was getting blurry as she zoomed past and her backpack hit her back repeatedly but she paid no mind. The continuous feeling of the wind hitting her face and the sun contrasting to it was extremely peaceful to the 15 year old girl.
But suddenly the air of her lungs got knocked out. She crashed into a person and suddenly she couldn't feel the blissfulness of the wind and the burning sensation in her calves and thighs. The bike crashed in a far corner and she was resting on something, or someone.
Lia groaned with her eyes tightly shut and rolled off to the right. "Ah shit." she moaned in agony and opened her eyes. Turning her head to the side she noticed a raven haired boy and her heart jumped in her chest.
"Holy fuck! I'm so sorry. Ah I mean-Mi dispiace." she muttered out, completely forgetting she was talking to an Italian boy. Her eyes raked over him, his hair was short and a light shade of brown. His locks draped over his closed eyes and his nose scrunched up along with his pink mouth. Lia noticed the small mole under his lower lip and cooed. The boy wore a yellow jacket and a white shirt underneath with just some plain jeans. 'How can he look so good with such little effort?' she questioned herself and sighed.
Suddenly, the boy's eyes shot open to reveal chocolate bambi eyes and Lia swooned at the sight. He was truly beautiful. A small smile raked over his lips and the nameless boy started laughing hysterically. Lia furrowed her brows in confusion as she watched the bunny smile on the boy's face. She was glad he wasn't in pain but...why was he laughing?
"That was fun." he said and Lia's eyes widened. She didn't expect him to know English. Mainly, because it was a small town in the countryside.
"Good to know you speak English. At least I didn't embarrass myself too much..." she muttered and the boy's smile grew. He stood up, dusting off his jeans and reached his hand down, offering his hand to the Lia. Grabbing his hand Lia pulled herself off and sighed. She was surprised to find that he was so much taller than him. When she looked straight she would come face to face with his broad chest. 'Woah...The muscles...' She thought but quickly shook the thought out of her head.
Mystery boy stretched out his hand and gave Lia a warm smile. "My name is Jeon, Jungkook Jeon." He said in a posh accent and Lia giggled at the reference. A soft blush coloured her pale cheeks and she felt the back of her neck burn.
"I'm Lia D'Amore. Nice to meet you." she said giddily and grabbed his hand for a firm shake.
"Oh, you're Signora D'Amore's daughter, right?" he asked and cocked his head to the side. Lia's brows furrowed and she chuckled, "No, I'm her grandchild-Oh fuck." she cut herself off as she took in the sight behind Jungkook.
The bike was barely hanging off the sidewalk and your bag was sprawled out next to it and all the contents were spilled all over the place.Lia's pencils were still in their container but her sketchbook was all over the place. The loose pages were spread everywhere. The most embarrassing thing was that the page that was opened in the book was the page Lia tried to sketch a nude model in. Her face reddened and she quickly dropped to the floor and picked up the extra papers. Jungkook followed suit and leaned down, picking up her sketchbook. He observed it and Lia could only blush watching him flip pages through everything. All her portraits and more importantly her outfit designs. Lia was panicking on the inside.
"These are-"
"Horrible?" Lia cut Jungkook off with a wince in her voice. "Disgusting? Revolting? Shouldn't see the light of day ever again?" She was nervous of what Jungkook would say and she squinted her eyes, not ready for what he would say. She was always scared of criticism and never really showed people her work. She didn't have people to show it to anyways.
"No, they're amazing. You're extremely talented." Jungkook said quietly and gave her a small smile. Lia looked down at her hands shyly as she fiddled with her delicate fingers. She didn't know how to respond to him, she was never good with compliments. All she knew was that she was extremely flustered and her heart would not calm down. "Thank you." she mumbled quietly and Jungkook just giggled in return.
Grabbing the papers from Lia's hands Jungkook stood up and tucked them in her book so she could place them back in her bag. "Here, put it back in your bag." he said politely and handed Lia her sketchbook.
Lia stood up after placing everything in her bag and grabbed her bike, standing next to him before they started walking together. Lia didn't know when they started talking or when they sat down in the sand, very close to where the tides brushed on the surface. She did however understand that Jungkook and her shared a bond. It wasn't love, not just yet. It was a comfortable friendship, where they could not speak but communicate with the colors of the wind. And maybe it was because of the beauty of Italy or the smell of home cooked food coming from the houses just by the beach. Or maybe it was the sweet blossoming of young love.
Whatever this tingling feeling the two bundles of youth felt from the tips of their fingers all the way to the pits of their thumping hearts one thing was certain.
Lia loved it and so did Jungkook.
Because who could resist the honeyed taste of love?
❧
"Nonna?" Lia called out into the emptiness of the house. She was supposed to be home hours ago and she knew that if her mom caught her she would make a big deal out of it. So, she opted to find her grandmother.
After tip-toeing into the foyer of the grand house, Lia made sure she would be quiet but sometimes she would squeak at mysterious sounds or shadows she didn't realize were hers or the moons.
Lia giggled to herself and before anyone could catch her she decided to make a run for her room. Taking quick steps towards the stairs she climbed up them and made a b-line to her room which was the first one on the floor. Opening her door as quietly as possible Lia slithered her way in and rested her back against the wooden material. She smiled to herself and did a small victory dance in her head as she giggled.
Now that she was back, Lia realized how tired she really was. A loud yawn erupted into the quietness and she widened her eyes. She hadn't unpacked yet. Groaning, Lia fell on top of her bed. Her eyes were faltering slightly but an evident smile was plastered across her face. If anyone saw her, they'd think she was crazy for smiling to herself.
Lia thought back to the events of the past few hours. Oh how peaceful it had been. The way Jungkook spoke softly, like he was afraid to wake the sleeping moon.
"How do you know my grandmother?" Lia asked curiously. She had been wondering ever since he asked after hearing her last name. He hummed, and turned his head towards her.
"I sometimes run errands for her. She doesn't really leave the house so she asks me to get her stuff. I comply though, I have a soft spot for old people." He said and as soon as the last sentence came out of his mouth, he clasped his hand over it. "I mean- She uh-" he sputtered and Lia laughed, cutting him off.
"I'm not going to get offended, Jungkook." Lia giggled out and Jungkook let out a sigh.
The way she so easily let his name roll off from the tip of her tongue made his heart race. The organ banged against his ribcage, trying to get to its new owner. Jungkook just smiled, he didn't want her to know the affects she had on him.
After all, they had just met.
Little did he know that she was thinking about him, with a hammering heart, as she fell asleep, hoping to see him the next day.
END OF FLASHBACK
The story truly never got old.
"I love you." Jungkook muttered into the scent of her hair.
"I love you too."
"I love you more.
