Chapter 29

Silas' POV

Damien and I are hanging out at his dorm, the aroma of weed floating through the air, white smoke expelling out from our mouths.  Lucky Daye's "Roll Some Mo'" is playing in the background, creating the perfect vibe for our smoke sesh.  "What's been up wit' you?" He questions.

"Went to a queer club recently.  Some LGBT All Tea shit. Danced with Hessie."  I say casually, my red eyes displaying how I'm purely relaxed.  I blow out some smoke, lookin' like a chimney. "Woah. You guys are really gettin' close, huh? I mean, I know you said y'all cool now, but that's a pretty big step."

"Agreed. I ain't really expect it, but shit happens." "You like her, don't you?" I suck my teeth and roll my eyes. "Quit all that nonsense. I'm Silas, ion like anybody."  "Pfft, yeah, okay." He says, buggin' his eyes and rollin' em like he don't believe me.

"Anyway, we always talkin' about me. What about you? You got any fine young honeys in yo' lineup?"  He takes a drag from his magic roll of happiness before blowing out some smoke. "I'm seeing someone. We ain't official yet, but she's the only one I'm seeing."

"Oh shit, really?" I say, my eyes getting big momentarily. "Yeah. It's called talking to one person. Something you clearly don't know about." "Aye, not too much on me, nigga." I say with a frown. Damien likes to get beside himself sometimes.

"My bad." "You fuckin' her?" "Nope," He says, shaking his head. "We takin' it slow. We haven't done anything besides huggin' and kissin'." My eyes damn near pop out of my head. "Are you serious? I'm shocked."

His brows furrow, and his head slightly tilts. "Do you think I'm a player, Silas? I'm not like you. I always talk to one woman at a time." Damien is really startin' to piss me off. He always acts like he better than me or some shit. I really hope he cuts that shit the fuck out.

Now it's my turn to roll my eyes. "How old is she?"  "She's older, 24."  I make a giddy expression, interested by this tea I'm hearing. "You gotchu an older woman. Nice. I ain't ever had that before." "Not gonna lie to you, Sye, you probably couldn't snag an older woman. They don't go for all the bullshit like the ones our ages do. You gotta come correct and know how to treat 'em."

A'ight, this conversation is over.

I put out my blunt in his ashtray and walk out the door, not sayin' a word to him.

.....

Anthessa's POV

There's a knock at the door. I'm not expecting anyone, Armani's gone for a week and Raeis is with Remy. I open the door.  "Oh, hey, Silas. Wasn't expecting you." "Can I come in?" She says as her brow raises. "Sure."

After letting her in, I close and lock the door. We sit down on the bed. "What brings you here?" I inquire. Her presence doesn't bother me, I'm just genuinely curious as to why she's here, especially unexpectedly. "Smoke with me."

"Oh, uh, sorry, Silas, but that was a one-time thing. I don't smoke." She pulls out some pre-made blunts. "Come ooooon. Just smoke wit' me, Hessie. Didn't you like it the last time?"  "Well....yeah." "So just do it wit' me again.  I was smokin' with Damien, but he blew my high talkin' all dat bullshit. So smoke wit' me. Pleeeeeeaaaasssse."

I don't think I've ever heard Silas say please in my life.

"Who's Damien?" "I'll tell you if you spark up with me." She says, smiling. She sure knows how to convince me.

"Alright, alright. Fine."  She perks up. "Yaaaay!"

She glances side to side and clears her throat, clearly embarrassed about the fact that she let some adorableness slip. I smirk at her. "That was really cute." "Shut it before I rip your lips off. Don't tell a single soul about that." I giggle, not the least bit fazed. That was still cute. Her problem, not mine.

She puts a blunt between my lips and flicks the sparkwheel of her lighter, a tiny flame igniting. She does the same to herself.  "We need some music." She says. "What song?" "Roll Some Mo'" by Lucky Daye." "Alexa, play, "Roll Some Mo'" by Lucky Daye."

Music plays before his melodic voice can be heard.

"Alright, so who's Damien?" She sighs after hearing my question. "He's my childhood best friend. He's my only friend, really." "You- You don't have any other friends? Like, at all?" "I'm Silas. I don't make friends. Only fuck buddies and acquaintances. Can't let people get too close to me. I keep my circle tiny as shit. The more people around you, the more people that hurt you."

"Am I........ Am I apart of your circle?" I don't know why it kinda sounded like I had some......hope when I asked that question. "No." And just like that, for some odd reason, my heart sinks. "Why do you hang around me then?"

Her eyes turn themselves to look at me. "I don't know."

Her gaze stays on me. It's weird, there's a......sincerity......in her words, as if pure confusion or cluelessness clouds her brain. She really doesn't know why she hangs around me. Well that makes the two of us.

My eyes are looking back into hers, my mouth not knowing what to say. "Do you want to be in my circle?"

Is she......... Is she hoping that I do?  "No."
