Chapter 14

When Timothy and Electchu got home, Timothy sat on his bed, took out Matori's tablet, and deleted all files related to her investments. He then uninstalled any apps that had to do with finances then went through the journal app until he found an entry revealing where Matori's school locker was and its lock combination. With a grin, he wrote a note and taped it to the tablet before putting it back into his backpack.

Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Timothy closed his backpack just as Entalmorfious entered the room. He was carrying several unmade cardboard boxes and a tape gun. Timothy furrowed his brow as Entalmorfious put the cardboard and tape gun on Timothy's computer desk and turned to his son.

"Okay, Timothy, since you don't need to do homework, I'm gonna need you to fill these boxes with everything in your room that isn't furniture and clothes for tomorrow and Friday," Entalmorfious said. "We must be ready to load everything first thing in the morning.

"Okay," Timothy said flatly.

Entalmorfious took a few steps to exit the room, then paused before hanging his head with a sigh. He sat on the edge of Timothy's bed and petted Electchu, who was lying next to Timothy. Timothy looked away from his dad as he laid his back against the bed frame, making it clear that he was not in the mood to talk.

"I'm sorry we sprung this on you, son, but it sprung on me the same way," Entalmorfious said.

Timothy stayed silent.

"Look, say I don't take the job? What then?" Entalmorfious asked. "Our home, the food we eat, the clothes you wear, that takes a lot of money."

Timothy huffed and turned his head to Entalmorfious.

"I just can't see why we can't stay. It just makes no sense to just up and leave for something Larry expects you to do in a place you've never been to," Timothy said.

"Sometimes in life, you have to do things that you don't want to do because other people who have power over you tell you to do them," Entalmorfious said.

"No, Dad. It's not that simple," Timothy said. "If you rise up and show that you won't be treated that way, those people will no longer control your life. Least of all, people like Larry, who, as far as anyone in this family is concerned, shouldn't be wasting your potential on silly costumes and then spontaneously make you move to another region."

Entalmorfious tilted his head in confusion.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"What?" Timothy asked.

"Who are you? What have you done with Timothy?" Entalmorfious asked. "I've never heard you talk like this before."

"Yeah, well, I've gained some clarity and learned to take charge of the things happening around me," Timothy said. "It might not hurt if you give it a try yourself."

Entalmorfious stared at Timothy, perplexed. He looked away and pursed his lips in thought while still petting Electchu. Timothy expected Entalmorfious to say something against his suggestion, but his father hummed and turned back to face him.

"Well, I guess I'll have to think about it," Entalmorfious said. "Anyway, I better help your mom pack her things. Be sure to fill those boxes up before dinner."

"Kay," Timothy said.

Entalmorfious nodded and stood up to exit the room. He stopped halfway before pausing and looking back to give Timothy an intrigued look. After a moment, he hummed again and exited the room, closing the door behind him. Timothy rolled his eyes and stood up to begin making boxes while Electchu watched.

"Pikachu. Pika, Pika, Pikachu?" Electchu asked.

"If you're asking what I think you're asking, Electchu, I doubt I got through to him," Timothy said. "It would be nice if Dad takes what I said to heart and man up, but I don't know what he can do for it to matter. Not before the move, anyway. If we're lucky, maybe my suggestion will be useful while he's setting up business in Unova. Until then, we're just gonna have to focus on the plan so we can move on more comfortable terms."

Electchu lowered its ears. Though it agreed Entalmorfious was very submissive, it wished Timothy gave the same conviction to encourage his father that he had been giving to stop their enemies at Motostoke High. With a sigh, Electchu grabbed things in Timothy's room that it could carry and put in the boxes. Timothy briefly smiled, silently thanking his partner for its assistance, before he went back to making boxes with his mind on sneaking into Motostoke High.

Timothy and Electchu packed all of Timothy's possessions in boxes for the next few hours. Halfway through, they stopped for dinner, where Helga decided to make one of her favorite dishes before the move. Entalmorfious made calls for the move as they ate, Helga looked at photo books, and Timothy thought of how his bullies would be foiled.

At 9 o'clock, Entalmorfious and Helga left to meet friends at a bar while Timothy and Electchu pretended to go to bed. Ten minutes later, Coovers and Sonia arrived on their Rotom Bicycles with Oshawott and Yamper. Timothy opened the garage, and he, Coovers, and Sonia each grabbed a box containing McGoogles the Frogadier's Pizza Parlor costumes and a pair of night vision goggles before leaving to take the train back to Motostoke.

When they arrived at Motostoke High School, they went around the building until they found an open classroom window. Timothy, Coovers, and Sonia lifted Electchu, Oshawott, and Yamper up to the window, and the Pokemon went in and made their way out of the classroom, down the hall to the main entrance. Oshawott got on top of Yamper, and Electchu climbed on top of Oshawott so it could push one of the doors open. Timothy, Coovers, and Sonia went in and thanked their partners by petting their heads. They then took out their Rotom Phones and turned on their phones' flashlights.

"Okay, how are we going to do this?" Sonia asked.

"As fast as possible. We need to be on the next train home long before our parents or your gran know we're gone," Timothy said. "Let's split up and put our costumes in our respective lockers. I will put the freezer coil and the note in Matori's locker so they're the first thing she sees when she goes to her locker. Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert's office is on the east wing on the third floor. We'll meet there, put the pheromones in the hairspray, look into their computers for any information regarding Superintendent Rose's inspection, and then we're out of here."

"Then what are we waiting for? See you guys upstairs," Coovers said.

"Pikachu," Electchu said.

"Oshawott," Oshawott said.

"Arf, Arf," Yamper barked.

Timothy, Coovers, and Sonia went in different directions with their respective Pokemon, using the flashlights on their Rotom Phones to light their way. Sonia and Yamper took a staircase to the second floor, where Sonia's locker was. Using her phone's flashlight to light the lock, Sonia entered the combination and opened her locker, which only contained a few textbooks stacked at the bottom. Sonia removed her costume from the box and shoved it into the locker before closing and locking it. Sonia waited a moment to ensure the costume wouldn't burst out of the locker before she and Yamper made their way to the top floor.

It took them a few minutes to find Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert's office, for Sonia didn't have any classes on the third floor and so was unfamiliar with the area. Shortly after that, Sonia and Yamper saw Coovers and Oshawott looking around until they spotted Sonia and Yamper. Coovers and Oshawott jogged over to their friends, and Coovers and Sonia sat on the floor while waiting for Timothy and Electchu.

"Did you have any trouble stuffing your costume and your locker?" Sonia asked.

Coovers huffed and said, "Honestly, it was the keytar more than anything that made it difficult. I don't know how Timothy will fit his costume in his locker when he also has bagpipes."

"Yeah, that's going to be quite a feat. Hope he doesn't take too long to get his costume in and put the freezer coil in Matori's locker," Sonia said.

"I second that," Coovers said.

"Oshawott," Oshawott said.

"Arf, arf," Yamper barked.

Coovers, Sonia, Oshawott, and Yamper waited for Timothy and Electchu for several minutes. Coovers leaned against the wall, playing a game on his Rotom Phone while Sonia sat on the floor, petting Yamper. Eventually, Coovers glanced at Sonia and furrowed his brow. He looked out in the hallway to be sure Timothy and Electchu weren't coming up soon and scooted closer to Sonia, catching her attention.

"You know, while we're waiting, there's something that I've wanted to talk to you about," he said.

"What's that?" Sonia asked.

"You and Timbo," Coovers answered.

Sonia's face turned sour. Yamper looked up at its partner, whining, and Oshawott grew unsettled.

"I'd rather we didn't," Sonia said.

Coovers sighed and said, "Look, he and his family are leaving first thing in the morning on Friday. Right? The way I see it, you can tell him what really went down with Abigail and why you lied to him before he leaves. I promise Timbo will understand and be open to you two figuring something out while he's in Unova. You can't keep your feelings from him forever."

"No offense, Coovers, but I don't see how it's your concern," Sonia said.

"Excuse me? I want my best friends to tell each other how they feel just as much as you do," Coovers said. "Who saw a spark between you two before you did? Me. Who, apart from Timbo's parents, tried to convince him to let you explain yourself? Me. Who gave you an ear to listen to when you were beating yourself up? Me. Now, I get why you lied about your feelings, and I was okay with keeping them a secret, but I've been keeping that secret under the assumption that you would eventually tell him the truth. I may not be the one holding things off, but I'm agitated with you and Timbo not saying how you truly feel for so long. Tomorrow will be your last opportunity to be alone with him when we're not at school or the party. You need to tell him before he leaves."

"To what point, Coovers? Even if I do, it won't change anything," Sonia said. "And it's not like I haven't tried to say anything, but Timothy's still bitter about Valentine's Day. Not to mention, my attempts get foiled because he's interested in another girl."

"Timbo may be interested in Tulip, but he would forget about her instantly if he found out you love him. I know it," Coovers said. "Don't you want to find out he would and then spend the rest of your time with him on honest grounds?"

"Coovers, none of this is about what I want. If it were up to me, we'd have gotten together ages ago, and we'd spend Timothy's last days before he moves, ditching school so we can be together out at the paddock while I still have both," Sonia said. "But even if we are together, I'd still respect that this is how Timothy wants to spend the rest of his time here. It means so much to Timothy that he tries to improve things for us before he goes. And when Gran's Pokemon's lives are on the line, I must prioritize that over everything, including Timothy."

Coovers furrowed his brow, then thought about it before he hung his head and said, "Yeah, you're right. It's like Timbo said, this is bigger than us. Why else would we sneak out and break into school to create a bit of mayhem?"

"Exactly," Sonia said before her cheeks turned pink, and she looked away while playing with her hair with her finger. "Also, to tell you the truth, I've always wanted to freak someone out with Mr. Durbin's costumes."

Coovers, Oshawott, and Yamper, looked at Sonia as though she had blurted out a foul word. Then Coovers thought about it and bit his lip before sighing in defeat.

"Yeah, okay. I've always wanted to do it too," he said.

Sonia giggled while Oshawott and Yamper looked at their partners in concern. A minute later, Timothy and Electchu came up the stairs with Timothy shining his flashlight on his friends. Coovers and Sonia covered their eyes as they stood up.

"Took a while, Timbo. Had a hard time getting your costume in your locker?" Coovers asked.

"Yeah, I had to get creative," Timothy said. "Anyway, let's get in the office and finish the job."

Coovers and Sonia nodded and Coovers took out a credit card he borrowed from his mom. He inserted the card into the gap between the doorknob and door frame, then slid it down next to the doorknob. Coovers tilted and bent the card, then wiggled it back and forth until the door was unlocked. Timothy, Coovers, Sonia, Electchu, Oshawott, and Yamper went in, and Coovers and Sonia looked around with their flashlights as they walked. They were baffled by the gold walls, large chandelier, and the stained glass windows of Sordward and Shielbert.

"How well-endowed are these guys?" Sonia asked. "Money must really be no object if they can afford to decorate their office like this and buy the paddock."

"You can say that again," Timothy said. "Anyway, the hairspray is dead ahead. I will take care of that while you go into Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert's computers. See if you can find anything regarding Superintendent Rose and when he will come tomorrow."

"Sounds good. Sonia, you take Principal Sordward's computer while I take Vice Principal Shielbert's computer," Coovers said.

"Got it. Let's return our Pokemon first so they don't go crazy while the pheromones are out," Sonia said.

"Good call," Timothy said.

Timothy, Coovers, and Sonia returned Electchu, Oshawott, and Yamper to their Pokeballs before returning to their respective jobs. Timothy opened the cans of hairspray and poured pheromones into each one. Coovers and Sonia got into Shielbert and Sordward's computers respectfully and began searching through files and emails. When Timothy finished pouring the pheromones, he closed the cans and shook them to ensure they were mixed with the hairspray.

"Timbo, I found an email regarding the superintendent," Coovers said. "Oleana sent an email to Vice Principal Shielbert with a schedule. They planned out what parts of the school they'll show Superintendent Rose and at what time."

"Excellent. We'll have to make sure Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert use their hairspray in a place full of students with their Pokemon," Timothy said. "Do they plan to show Superintendent Rose the cafeteria?"

"Yeah, they're going to show it during our lunch period," Coovers said. "How do you intend to make them use their hairspray?"

"Allow me to answer that question with another question," Timothy said, smirking. "Have you ever wanted to start a food fight?"

Coovers looked away from the computer and asked, "Are you serious?"

"Dead serious," Timothy said. "After all, a little bit of food in their outrageously large heads of hair would cause them to use hairspray to maintain their hairdo. Plus, I imagine it would be humiliating for Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert if Superintendent Rose saw students and Pokemon throwing food at each other."

"Ah, so just when it can't get any more embarrassing, they'll use their hairspray, causing all of the Pokemon in the cafeteria to go after them," Coovers said.

"Bingo," Timothy said. "It may be a little extreme, but there's no harm in ensuring Superintendent Rose thinks exactly what we want him to think. Right, Sonia?"

Timothy waited for Sonia to respond before turning to see her staring at Principal Sordward's computer in shock. Timothy and Coovers looked at each other before they walked over to Principal Sordward's desk. They looked over Sonia's shoulders, Coovers on her left and Timothy on her right, and their eyes widened as they looked at a pie chart file on the screen.

Motostoke High School Budget

Staff salaries 1%

Textbooks 1%

School equipment 0.5%

After school activities 1%

Hairspray 3.5%

Stadium Construction Costs 93%

"I don't believe this. Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert are using the majority of the school budget to fund their stadium," Timothy said.

"Hmm. You know, that does add up. Erin did tell me that the budget for lab equipment was cut," Coovers said. "Now, I wish we thought of a better way to distract her than breaking a lab bottle."

"It's monstrous," Sonia said. "These guys are so greedy and self-important that they would even use the school's budget for their supply of hairspray. Do you think they have been doing this for years now? Like, taking most of the school's budget one year is how they afford to decorate their office like this? Was school money used to buy the paddock? Now that I'm saying this out loud, I'm starting to suspect they aren't well-endowed at all."

"Well, maybe they are, and they don't want to spend any of their personal money on anything if they can avoid it," Timothy said.

"Whether they're well-endowed or not, we can't let them get away with this," Coovers said. "I don't know about you guys, but I don't think I can bring myself to see Erin during Pokemon biology with her not knowing why money is so tight."

"I'm with Coovers. I know we need Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert to be unaware of what we're doing, but they already made this personal for me. I want the whole school to know about this so they go down in flames," Sonia said.

"In that case, let's each take a picture of this pie chart, and then we'll make new profiles on social media with made-up names and share them with everyone," Timothy said. "That way, we'll ensure they all find out without Principal Sordward and Vice Principal Shielbert knowing who posted them. The cut in staff salaries alone will cause trouble for them, and Superintendent Rose is bound to find out through word of mouth. Even if causing chaos tomorrow doesn't lead to them giving the paddock back to Professor Magnolia right away, revealing their scheme will be the final nail in the coffin."

Coovers and Sonia nodded, satisfied with Timothy's idea. They each took a picture of the pie chart on their Rotom Phones before turning off the computers and exiting the office. Using the flashlights on their phones again, Timothy, Coovers, and Sonia made their way to the main hall and exited the school from the front entrance before turning their phones into bicycles. They got on the next train to Wedgehurst and took Electchu, Oshawott, and Yamper out of their Pokeballs after they found their seats.

As they rode the train, Sonia stared out the window, her mind on Sordward and Shielbert's plot. Timothy, sitting opposite her, took Sonia's hand and squeezed it with a smile.

"It's going to be okay, Sonia. We'll stop them. Promise," he said.

Sonia gave Timothy a small smile, appreciative of what he was doing, but then her smile faded with her mind on whether to tell him how she really felt. Coovers looked at Sonia in concern, knowing what was on her mind, and hoped she would take what he said to heart. Whether it involved the Magnolia Paddock, the bullies, or Sonia confessing her feelings, Timothy, Coovers, Sonia, Electchu, Oshawott, and Yamper had a big day ahead of them.
