under pressure

3 DAYS LATER

I walk down the halls, feeling like the ultimate culprit as everyone glares at me.
The whisperings turns into full on insults,
and I can't even keep my head held up high.
I just stare at the pavement,
wishing I could melt into cement and become one with it.
Then again, the idea of being stepped all over on it not appealing.

My words echo through the backstage area, sending shivers down my spine.
"Sasha's definitely a top-competitor, but she's definitely not the best."
"I'm the best, I deserve all the recognition."

"Stop that!"
I shout to a technician who cranks the volume up. I push him aside and stop the music box, but it's already too late.

"Is that really how you feel?"
Sasha hisses as she stands in front of me like never before.

Her eyes are teary and full of hurt, barely able to look me in the eye.

"Mer, of course not. I- I don't know what to say except that I never said those things."

I stutter, feeling a harsh sting as Sasha slaps me with such vigor I nearly choke tears out.

"Sounds a lot like you Bex. What's next?
Are you going to try to convince me that the grass is black and not green?"

Sasha says, wiping a few tears before storming away.

I touch my cheek, whimpering from the pain.

"I think this is yours."

The technician says, handing me a CD and explaining that he had specific orders to play it when I arrived at the backstage scene.

"WHO TOLD YOU?"
I scream, making the poor guy shiver as he only hands me a note.

"Your end is near."

I read, crumbling the note and tossing it aside as I can only think of one culprit.

King: Where's Becky Lynch?
Mauro: It appears that Becky Lynch has disappeared.
JBL: She's run off like the smart girl she is.

My heart beat accelerates as I'm shoved somewhere, even dragged when I try to drop to the ground. Thanks to the sack over my head, my vision is obstructed and everything is black.

Instead of fighting him off, I go straight for a kick.

With my luck, my leg doesn't inflict pain on anyone else but myself as it strikes something hard, metal.

I let myself recover for a minute, but by then, it's too late.

[ LIGHTS OFF ]

The audience cheers with exhilaration as the building once again goes pitch dark.

JBL: Someone keeps forgetting to pay the rent.
King: Someone's getting fired.

As I'm shoved to the ground, I squirm around until I no longer feel their hands on my arms but instead hear their footsteps echoing away from me.

With my hands freed, I take the bandanna off of my eyes and gasp as I realize I'm at the bottom of the ring.

Before I can do much else, I come face to face with Sasha as she lifts the ring's skirt up. As she searches for a table, our eyes meet.

"Hiding under the ring, really?"

Sasha hisses before grabbing locks of my hair and dragging me from under the ring.

Mauro: There's Becky Lynch!
JBL: What on earth is going on?

Sasha whams my face onto the top of the barricade until the match is stopped and Big E pulls her away.

"You think you're clever by hiding under the ring? You're really just a manipulative, foolish, idiot if you think you'd get the win over me!"

Sasha growls before Big E easily lifts her up and drags her away.

I feel like the worse is over until Finn walks towards me with his judgmental eyes and pointy finger.

"I didn't train you so you'd turn out a coward!"

At that, I snap as I shove him away from my face.

"I don't need you!"
"I never did!"
"I would have made it with, or without you!"

I shout as for the first time ever, the crowd boo's me until I'm past the backstage curtains, unable to even defend or explain myself for actions that go beyond me.

I walk alone backstage with a heavy conscience.

If Finn was out in the ring during my match, then who dragged me out?

I shut my eyes and recall the touch.

It wasn't a gentle touch, but it also wasn't big, rough, manly hands.

I bring my hand to my mouth, shocked.

It wasn't Karl Anderson or Doc Gallows.

What if it was never them, or Finn?

As I let myself fall to the ground, I bring my knees to my chest and let my head rest on my knees. I've always done best when in chaos, but it's as if my two striking enemies have used my own virtues as my downfall.

My heads a mess, my body's aching, and I'm under pressure.

AUTHOR'S NOTES

a million & one apologies for this messy chapter.
basically (to summarize things if they weren't clear enough)
someone played a recording of becky's voice saying such things, but truthfully, she didn't say those things. someone just pieced words from multiple conversations to make it sound like she did.

+

while she was in a tag-team match with Finn against Sasha + Big E, Bex was dragged away when the lights when off the first time and then shoved to the bottom of the ring when the lights went out again.

why? this was done to expose her as a "coward" + to break her spirit a bit.
I'll explain things much better in the next chapter.

xo , violet.
