Epilogue

A lot can happen in four years. Eventually Kevin and Kara graduated from high school and left Bellevue to attend Gotham University in Gotham City. Kara shared a dorm with her friend Barbara while Kevin lived at Wayne Manor with Bruce, Alfred, and Bruce's foster son Jason Todd. A year after graduation, Eagan stood trial for his crimes. Kevin testified as a witness against Eagan, as did Kevin's teacher and classmates and other students that witnessed the attempted shooting. The court even allowed Supergirl to testify in court, regardless of being an alien and a vigilante. Based on a unanimous decision, Eagan Wharton was found guilty on the charges of multiple murders, unlawful possession of stolen firearms, breaking and entering, and destruction of property. The judge in Wharton's trial sentenced him to 3,318 years in prison without parole, believing Wharton's soul was so rotten and evil that everyone would be much safer with him never setting foot in free society ever again. It felt like fitting closure for the surviving victims.

Aside from that, Kevin and Kara's life in Gotham was quite nice. They enjoyed attending Gotham University and did well in their classes. Kara was able to maintain balance as a college student and as Supergirl, and she was happy to have Kevin in her life. With Kevin knowing she was Supergirl, she felt she could trust him and opened up to him a lot more about her life. Kevin and Barbara were the best confidants Kara could ever ask for. Kevin even got an opportunity to meet and befriend Barbara, and she became like a big sister to him. Kevin was also happy to have Kara in his life, she was his rock as he came to grips with his near death experience and Eagan's trial, always there for him. And Kevin also had a good therapist in Dinah Lance, (AKA Black Canary) who helped greatly with his mental health, she, Bruce, Andrea, and Alfred were the best parental figures Kevin could ask for whenever he needed advice or someone to talk to about his mental health. His romantic relationship with Kara was beautiful, when they weren't at college, Kevin and Kara went on dates and spent time together, going to restaurants, movies, parks, sometimes Kara would fly Kevin around, they did all sorts of romantic things.

And true to his word, Bruce made sure Kevin would spend time with Damian, they would travel to Bellevue to spend time with the young boy, and sometimes Damien would get to spend time with Bruce's foster sons Dick and Jason, who welcomed Damian as family. Life was good.

It was another early evening in Gotham, and Kevin was at the kitchen in Wayne Manor, preparing a pizza. He was dressed in casual but nice clothing as he put toppings like pepperoni, black olives, mushrooms, and bacon on top of the pizza. A minute later, Kara came in, wearing her Supergirl suit. "Hey babe, perfect timing," said an enthusiastic Kevin, "how was your day?" Kara smiled and said, "it was good, did a bit of saving the day and all that. You ready?" Kevin nodded and said, "yeah, just give me a moment to put this in a box, and then we can go flying." Kevin put the pizza in a cardboard box, sliced it up into eight pieces, and then shut it closed, holding on to it as Kara gently wrapped her arm around Kevin's waist. Kevin then kissed Kara on the lips. Kara then started to fly with Kevin, leaving Wayne Manor. They flew around Gotham, enjoying the view and each other's company. A few minutes later, they landed at a peculiar looking tower that looked like a cross between Seattle's Space Needle and the Chrysler Building in New York. It was known as the Nolan Needle, one of Gotham's most popular tourist attractions. Kara landed on top of the building, letting Kevin down.

The two sat down and Kevin opened the pizza box, thankfully the pizza wasn't damaged. "You ready?" Kevin asked. Kara smiled and said, "definitely." Kara then used her heat vision to blast at the pizza to heat it up. Less than a minute later, the pizza was perfectly cooked and hot. Kevin smiled and said, "I never tire of seeing you heat up food with your heat vision." Kara giggled in response, "yeah, who needs an oven or a microwave when you have a girlfriend with heat vision? Now allow me to return the favor..." Kara then kissed Kevin on the lips. Once the kissing ceased, Kevin and Kara proceeded to share the homemade pizza. "Man, it's hard to believe that we're almost done with college," said Kevin. "You excited for it?" Kara asked. "Yeah, and a little nervous," said Kevin, "but I can't wait to work full time with Chef Conway."

"He's certainly taught you well in the field of cooking," said Kara as she playfully winked at Kevin. "What about you? Are you excited to become a full time reporter for the Gotham Gazette?" Kevin asked. "You bet I am," said Kara, "I doubt Kal and Lois will mind a little friendly competition." She and Kevin shared a laugh together. Kevin gently laid his head on Kara's shoulder. "This is nice," he said. Kara nodded, agreeing. "How are you holding up after everything with Eagan?" Kara asked, hoping Kevin wouldn't be uncomfortable talking about it. "I've accepted that Eagan doesn't care about being forgiven, regardless of what my faith says," said Kevin, "Mom and Dad always said there are people out there who can't be helped or reasoned with, and Eagan is one of those people who just doesn't care. I'm honestly at peace with it, and I haven't had nightmares of it all." Kara held Kevin's hand and said, "good. It is kind of you to attempt to forgive your enemy. It certainly means compassion and mercy are far from dead. I'm just happy that you're alive."

Kevin gently touched Kara's face and said, "me too... You're my hero, Kara." He looked into her bright blue eyes as she smiled gently at him, touched by his kind words. "So Dad purchased a house that used to belong to Grandpa Carl," said Kevin, "he's had it for quite awhile and is letting me live in that house after we graduate. Kara, would you like to move in with me?" Kara was genuinely surprised by this, and she said, "why Kevin... Yes! I will move in with you!" She squealed with excitement and gently hugged Kevin. After hugging and finishing the pizza, Kevin offered, "may I have this dance?" As they stood up, Kara replied, "you may." Kevin then played the song Storybook Love by Mark Knopfler on his cell phone. Kevin and Kara embraced each other and then started to slow dance to the song. As the song played, they held each other in their arms while slow dancing to the song. Kara laid her head on Kevin's chest, listening to his heartbeat. Oh how she loved this man. Soon the song ended, and Kara said, "I love you, Kevin Beaumont..." Kevin looked at Kara and said, "I love you too Kara Danvers, my angel..." Kara didn't need powers to know Kevin meant it. It was a beautiful conclusion to a lovely date. And they were happy.

The End.
