Coffee With A Friend
After Andrea made herself at home, Bruce called someone on his phone. And that someone was Clark Kent, otherwise known as Superman! Clark answered the phone and said, "Clark Kent, Daily Planet."
"Hello Clark," said Bruce. Clark replied on the phone, "Bruce? This is a surprise. You don't usually call me on the phone, especially at this time in the evening." Bruce nodded and said, "I know. Clark, I was wondering if I could speak to you at the Gotham diner. I can buy us coffee, my treat."
"Why sure Bruce, I can do that," said Clark, "civilian clothes, or no?" Bruce shrugged and said, "let's meet up in our civilian clothes. I know how you take your coffee, so I'll see you there. Thanks for accepting my invite." Clark replied, "no problem Bruce. See you there." 30 minutes later, Bruce was at the local diner in Gotham City, wearing a gray business suit with a black tie. A minute later, a 6'3 Caucasian man with black hair and blue eyes with glasses covering them walked in. He was wearing a blue business suit with a red tie and a navy fedora. Bruce knew who this man was, it was Clark Kent, otherwise known as Superman! Clark walked over to the host and said, "hello I'm Clark Kent, I'm meeting someone here at this diner." Bruce waved and said In his suave billionaire Playboy voice, "he's with me." Clark walked over to Bruce and sat at the chair in front of him. The waitress walked in and served Clark and Bruce their cups of coffee, Bruce's cup was plain dark black, and Clark's cup was with two sugars and cream. "Thank you," said Bruce as the waitress left, and he said to Clark, "I'm glad you could make it at this time Clark."
"I'm a little surprised you wanted to see me at this time Bruce," said Clark, "not that I mind having free coffee with a friend. What did you need to talk about?" As Clark drank his coffee, Bruce asked, "do you remember when Jeremiah and Linda Danvers offered to raise Kara?" Clark nodded and said, "why yes. I believe they moved to a city known as Bellevue in Washington. A very nice city, almost similar to Metropolis."
"I found out a few things today Clark," said Bruce, "for one, I have two biological sons, and they live with my first girlfriend in Bellevue. They're next door neighbors to the Danvers family." Clark gave a look of surprise and asked, "well what were the odds of that? What are your son's names?" He never would have imagined his cousin being next door neighbors to Bruce's children. "The firstborn is named Kevin," explained Bruce, "He's the same age as Kara and is from my first relationship with Andrea Beaumont. He goes to the same school as Kara. The second born, his name is Damian. He isn't Andrea's biological son, he's from a previous relationship with someone else I'd rather not discuss."
"But he's adopted?" Clark asked for clarification. "For lack of a better word, yes," confirmed Bruce. "Why are you telling me this, and what does it have to do with Kara?" Clark asked. "Yesterday, a school shooting almost happened at Kara's school," explained Bruce, "according to Andrea, Kevin was this close to getting shot by the gunman who wanted to kill the entire classroom he was in. But thankfully, your cousin intervened and stopped the gunman from killing my son. Kara saved my son's life, Clark." Bruce was overwhelmed with emotions, and Clark could tell. "Why Bruce, I... I didn't know..." Clark said with empathy and compassion, "how is he handling this? Your son Kevin?"
"I don't know," said Bruce, "I just hope he doesn't get scarred like I did. Clark, I'm telling you all this because I want to thank you and Kara. I especially want to think her for saving my son's life. I owe you and her a great debt of gratitude for that selfless act of heroism. If anything, Kara has my respect now." Clark smiled and said, "I'm glad to know. I hope you get a chance to tell her that yourself. Are you planning on meeting your sons?" Bruce nodded and said, "That's the plan. We'll be going to Bellevue to meet Kevin and Damian tomorrow." Clark raised his cup like he was making a toast and said, "well then, I wish you the best of luck, Bruce. Let's hope everything goes well for you and your sons." Bruce clanked his cup with Clark's in agreement, glad to live in these moments where he could talk with Clark about anything.
