sure enough, the door opened to reveal a messy-haired jaemin, clad in only a t-shirt and some jogger pants. juniper forced her eyes to stay on his rather than observe his attire any longer. "we need to talk."

jaemin rubbed his tired eyes but opened the door a bit wider for the girl to slip inside. "about what?" he bit back a yawn. "didn't you just hang up on me?"

"well... yes, but listen," june rushed out, kneading her fingers as she spun around to face her co-worker. "i, um... well, i wanted to talk about that night, and—"

"there's nothing to talk about," jaemin said, his voice suddenly clear. his eyes were trained on hers, searching for what she was trying to say, and based on his next words, he failed to spot it. "we weren't ourselves. it was a mistake."

but... "y-yeah, that's what i was gonna say..." damn it, juniper park.

jaemin took juniper by the hand and forced a smile to his lips. "don't worry, i understand. you and eric have something, i get it. i'll be okay, don't worry about me."

furrowing her brows, june opened her mouth to ask what he was talking about when his phone suddenly rang.

she had more to say but now wasn't the time. jaemin shot her one last martyr smile before answering his phone, and june suddenly couldn't stand to be in the same room as him.

had she not quite literally thrown herself at him the night before? was he not the person she called in her time of need? was she not standing in his dorm, dressed in her pajamas, trying to tell him how she really felt?

without another sound, juniper left.

her smile faded a little as she read the comments, but juniper kept her lips sealed as she continued playing her game. "okay, guys, how about we spam november's twitter page after i end my stream? her flight was delayed a few hours, so let's put her in a good mood."

the fans agreed immediately, and as soon as juniper ended the stream, she and her gems made their way over to nova's account. she stayed there, spamming her best friend, until there was a knock on the door.

juniper's heart fluttered at the thought of the boy she'd just confessed to standing there, and to her pleasure, he was.

"hey," jaemin greeted with an almost sly smile, and juniper jumped away to let him in. "hey."

"so," he started, eyes trained on his feet as his hands mindlessly reached for hers. "i thought we should talk about us. in person, this time."

june nodded. "i wanted to tell you earlier, i really did, but then you started talking about eric, and i just couldn't—"

her words were cut off when jaemin's hands released hers, finding both sides of her face as he pulled her toward him and kissed her. juniper was quick to kiss back, allowing her arms to fall around his shoulders as she pressed herself against him.

after a moment, he pulled away. they wore matching smiles as she caught each other's gaze. "sorry, i couldn't help myself." jaemin apologized softly, and juniper felt her face heat up. "no, i, uh... i feel like i've said everything i needed to say."

"i want to be with you, juniper." jaemin breathed out as his hand drifted up her back. "i know you already told me you want me, but i want you. i've always wanted you, even when i didn't know it."

juniper could not take her eyes off him. the way he was holding her, the way he was smiling at her, the words he was saying to her, she didn't stand a chance. "good. because i am not going anywhere again."
