juniper couldn't stop tugging at the end of her scrubs shirt as she walked into the community she worked, quickly typing her employee id into a keypad by the door. she could see a figure through the blurred glass and relaxed.

pulling the heavy door open, the female slumped her shoulders dramatically after finding that the figure was actually a cardboard cut out of some random dude with a thumbs-up.

"juniper, over here." she heard, straightening and skipping her way towards the unfamiliar voice she assumed belonged to jaemin. it was soft and sweet, not deep like jeno's had been.

rounding the corner, june found the boy flipping through some papers attached to a binder in what she guessed was the copy room.

maybe it was because she was somewhat familiar with the boy, or maybe it was his calm aura, but the girl instantly felt at ease as she approached his side. propping herself up on her toes to peek over his shoulder, juniper hummed. "so, we're both in the peony hall?"

there were three halls in bloom assisted living—daisy hall, lilac hall, and peony hall—all named after flowers, following the "bloom" theme.

june smiled to herself, very thankful to be working the unfamiliar shift with a friend.

stepping into his view in order to catch his eye, the girl pulled her messy waves back and grabbed a hair tie off her wrist. "you wouldn't mind showing me around, right?"

"hm? oh, not at all. our shifts don't officially start for another ten minutes, anyway." jaemin said, wiping his hands on his matching scrub bottoms and walking around june to leave the room.

the next ten minutes were spent with just the two of them walking around aimlessly since juniper hadn't had her official orientation walk-through yet.

"so, just curious, this isn't like grey's anatomy, right? like, with people fucking each other all over the place—"

jaemin cut the girl off by pressing his hands to his ears, a look of disgust covering his entire face. "ew. no, most of these people are twice our age, married, or really stuck up." he dropped his hands and let the new hire out of the break room. "plus, the only 'relationships' here are typically mother-offspring."

"oh. cool." the curly haired girl frowned, honestly a bit disappointed at the lack of drama she knew was only meant for television.

clapping his hands together, jaemin spun around to face juniper with a more comfortable smile this time. "okay. it's 10. time to get to work."

june returned the smile with a cheeky grin of her own, "i got your back. please either slap me or throw water at me if you catch me dozing off."

"got it," jaemin laughed with a shake of his head. he figured then and there that it was going to be a long night.
