juniper practically threw herself into the chair, stilling like a stature when the teacher, mr. choi, turned around to spot the commotion. maybe it was because of how tired everyone was, but he simply shrugged his shoulders and went back to drawing a cell on the whiteboard.

finally releasing a shaky exhale, the girl with wild curls turn her head to the side, instantly coming face to face with a boy whose red hair caused her jaw to drop.

"woah," she quietly mused, fighting the urge to touch the boy's head. "your hair is so much prettier in person."

yoshi bit his lips together to silence his incoming laugh, not wanting to draw any more attention. "thank you. juniper, right?" juniper nodded. "sweet. i'm yoshi. i don't think you've met soobin yet,"

leaning past the redhead, juniper caught sight of a rather tall boy with a slice of bread hanging out from between his lips. feeling her eyes on him, soobin looked up as if he'd been caught taking cookies from a jar.

after quite an awkward staring contest, june raised her hand, and soobin used his tongue to inhale the rest of his bread before waving back.

"sorry, i forget if i asked or not, but what are you majoring in?"

soobin hid his mouth behind his hand, yoshi taking the opportunity to answer her instead. "i'm in engineering. cars, hopefully. i work part-time at jikjin mechanics."

"oh, really?" juniper tried to sound interested even though the only thing she knew about cars was that it was a pixar movie. "i can imagine you in those blue mechanic onesies. cool!"

"it's not a onesie—"

"what about you, soobread—bin?" the boy in question shot his gaze towards her, cheeks still slightly inflated from his breakfast. "oh, uh, e-education."

juniper smiled at his stutter. he seemed embarrassed, which made her think the slight impediment made him nervous. trying to make him more comfortable, the girl leaned her head softly on her hand and her smile squished. "what kind? of teaching, i mean?"

soobin hesitated to share a look with yoshi, who also had a comforting expression on his face. clearing his throat lightly, the dark-haired boy fluffed out his bangs to avoid eye contact. "y-yeah. i'm thinking abou-out maybe middle schoolers?"

"i think you'd be a great middle school teacher! and we technically just met." june encouraged. "you have a kind aura. i like it!"

yoshi nodded his head quickly to show that he agreed, opening his mouth when mr. choi sudden shouted out a question. the new trio of first-period biology friends decided to take that as their cue to stop talking for the rest of class.
