One thing in his life Harry thought he would never have in his life, was someone he could fall in love with. With his line of work, he knew he could die any day with a target so large on his back. No one lives forever, no matter how hard you try.
Despite having allies, he knew one day that could all change. The empire he had built for himself wasn't going to last, and one day, it would surely crumble down.
It was inevitable.
He always managed to keep his mother and little brother out of harms way, keeping them under a watchful eye. Almost like the witness protection program, but without their knowledge.
But its what he had to do.
Then along came Louis. His beautiful sweet Louis.
How could anyone so... pure come from one of his biggest enemies? Why did the universe have to play him like this?
Harry thought it would be just a quick fling of infatuation. But instead, he began to feel more. More than just what he first thought was lust. And to be honest, it was probably more scarier having to admit to that than having a gun pointed between his eyes, and that has happened before.
There was nothing more he wanted to do than to keep him safe. But every plan he had would either put them in a more dangerous situation or leave someone vulnerable out for the taking.
And he swore with his entire mind, body and soul to protect the ones he loved.

Louis sat on the couch by fireplace, legs brought up to his chest as he watched the hot flames flicker like dancing wisps.
His flower crown had started wilting from the heat of the fire, turning the stems almost stiff and brittle as it laid atop his messy hair.
It felt like he was on the way to shutting down. Someone who claimed to be his father had come back and had a very large bone to pick with Harry. Large enough that it was putting himself and his mother in danger.
It felt like Louis' suspicions were also becoming true about being watched. The fact alone made everything feel like frigid water was being poured down on him and awakening him to a harsh reality.
Johanna walked into the room a moment later, carrying two cups of tea and sat down beside her son without a word.
"You were nearly two when he left us," Jay spoke after a few minutes of silence, taking a sip of her tea and eyes locked on the fireplace as she began to reminisce almost two decades ago.
"We met in the grocery store, I accidentally hit him on the head with a baguette," she cracked a small pained smile, "And after that, we just kept seeing each around other until he asked me out. I was right out of college too, so young... We both were."
Louis finally broke his gaze from the fire, turning his attention to his mother. "We moved in together after a year of knowing each other... Your grandparents were so worried about us moving to fast. But I just kept saying 'he's the one, dad. I know he is.',"
Johanna turned her eyes to look at her son, seeing so much of Chris in him. His love of life and freedom, the same cheeky attitude and smile.
"When you were one, we started fighting because he was coming home late to the point I would suspect him a cheating. He was always out helping his father... And now that I think of it, it made sense."
She shook her head self-depreciatingly with a weak chuckle, "A 'cleaning' service," She scoffed.
"And now, he's off doing god knows what, hurting people, /killing people/ and Harry is in the same business as well, I just-" Jay cut off, "We're now in danger because of them."
"We're like sitting ducks."

Louis stared outside the window from his room upstairs, mind blank. He didn't know how to process anything. In his 18 years of life, he never would've though his life would end up like this. He imagined to find a nice boy and eventually get married and adopt a baby. And for a while, Louis could imagine it with Harry. He just knew Harry would be a great father. And he naïvely built up the thought of growing old with him, having kids and sending them off to college.
But it all crumbled as soon as Harry and his mother explained things to him.
After a while, his intense thinking was broken as soon as his eyes focused on the familiar black range rover that pulled up at the front.
Harry.
Who else would it be?
Not Santa Clause that's for sure.
He watched as Harry climbed out of his car, running his fingers through his newly cut hair before making his way up the driveway. He looked so handsome from what Louis could see without his glasses.
The flower boy bit his lip as their eyes connected, blue and green clashing like the sky with land, the smallest of smiles appearing when the Gang leader raised his hand to give him a wave, the man's head tilting to the door.
Louis nodded, holding up a finger before he scurried downstairs, his blue blanket wrapped around his shoulders. He opened the door, peaking up at him.
Harry smiled at the younger lad, "Hi, Lou." He whispered as he stood before the boy.
Louis gave a weak smile back but didn't say anything.
Harry sighed. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for, any of this to happen," He spoke truthfully.
"When I met you, I thought I could just ignore how I felt, but I couldn't. And we kept talking and I got to know you, I just-" he ran his fingers through his hair, trying to find the right words.
"You mean everything to me. I love your eyes, the way they light up when you talk. I love your laugh, its... Its like music to my ears. You're the light of my life Lou.. I would die for you. I put you and your mother in danger and I promise to look after you because I-"
Louis watched Harry, eyes wide and his heart began to beat fast.
"I- I.. Uh."
'Tell me..' Louis thought desperately.
Harry tried his best to build up the courage, his ice heart beginning to thaw an the chains began to unshackle, eyes on the flower boy.
"I-"
"Tell me.." Louis breathed, "Harry, please tell me." He begged quietly as he wrapped his blanket tighter around himself.
"Lou.. I l-love.."
Louis' eyes filled with unwanted tears. "Harry."
"Louis..." He took a deep breath. This was it.
"I love you, Lou."
The sound of a gunshot rang through the air of the normally silent neighborhood, and before anyone could move, the two fell to the ground wrapped in each others arms as tires screeched down the road.
