PERSONALITY AND CHARACTER ANALYSIS: Nanyehi Apache is passionate about her beliefs, but very rational when it comes to dealing with others. She has a calm and collected attitude and a caring personality. Her emotions can sometimes get the best of her, but most of the time, she represses them. She is empathetic, but not when it comes to herself, and she lacks self-esteem.
She used to be patriotic, but she isn't as patriotic anymore. She is a little idealistic and not as realistic as she could be.

CHARACTER ARC: Despite America's history, Nanyehi Apache was extremely patriotic and put faith in her government. Her parents raised her to respect the government and she grew up with many accepting friends. However, her view on America drastically when she was eighteen years old. Her father was the victim of a hate crime committed by her own friend's father. Her friend and her friend's mother condemned the crime, but defended him in court. The murderer was never held accountable for his crimes.
Immediately after, Nanyehi cut ties with her friend as well as with the government. In college, Nanyehi studied human rights law and became a human rights lawyer. In the year 2010, she argued on behalf of someone who had been injured by the Bruce Banner/Hulk, only to realize that her client had purposely provoked him. She let her client go and helped Bruce instead.
In the year 2012, Bruce visited Nanyehi and recruited her into the Avengers, which is how she met Steve Rogers/Captain America. Initially, she disliked him for his overly patriotic behavior and he found her anarchist attitude off-putting, but they worked it out and became close.
