II. The Right Partner

Setting: Captain America, The First Avenger.

As the agent on the field during the second world war, and the sole trainer for the soldiers, you thought the need necessary to join them in their celebration at the local bar. It has been a day since the legendary Captain America rescued the four hundred men in the heart of the HYDRA facility, and their sense of relief ran wild as they expressed their emotions the only way they knew how; through the intake of alcohol.

You didn't seem to mind though, in fact, you found yourself immensely relieved as you discovered the solider James Buchanan Barnes arrived back to home base safely. Though rumours began to spread over the camp that Sergeant Barnes was experimented on, he seemed well enough to drink the night away.

Everyone at the training facility knew James Barnes, or 'Bucky', as many men preferred to call him, was infatuated with you. You began to realise this yourself when you come regularly to train and observe the men in preparation for the war. His way of 'checking you out' was beginning to become sloppy, his eyes lingering on you so often that he doesn't seem to hesitate now when you catch him, you instead receive his signature smirk and wink. When you first met the man, he was extremely shy and never spoke a word to you, instantly flinching every time you caught him looking over at you. Now, it was just too easy for you to fall for him as his confidence began to dramatically rise.

You walked from the cool air outside into the warm, smokey atmosphere inside. The room was engulfed with men and their loud, bellowing laughs as they drank, smoked and played poker. Your eyes scanned the full bar, spotting a stage full of performing flapper ladies, before your eyes fell on the lonely man with the dark chocolate hair, sitting at the bar.

You flawlessly removed your jacket and scarf, hanging it on the holder at the front door, and began to walk over to the lonesome soldier. As you moved closer to him, the noise of laugher and music began to die down. You noticed the atmosphere around you began to change. The men began to gawk at you, while the flappers crossed their arms and shook their pretty little heads. You were, without realising it, the woman every man wanted and every girl envied. The soldiers in the bar were completely astonished, as they finally saw you without your military uniform on, and in a sleek, curve-hugging dress that made your every feature look amazing. As you neared the soldier you had your eyes on, the noise limited to the sound of only your heels clicking on the floor.

"Sergeant Barnes," you spoke softly as you reached him.

You watched as the soldiers head snapped around toward you, his bright eyes widening at the mere sight of you. He then fumbled out of his barstool, his stance straightening as his eyes met yours in an instant. You snickered quietly as he reminded you of an innocent school boy, greeting his teacher as she walked into the classroom.

"A-Agent (Y/L/N)," he gasped, his shock dripped from his words. You watched as his eyes raked your body slowly, from your face all the way to your feet, back to your face again. He was in complete admiration. "What a pleasant surprise."

Your lips pulled into a smirk, the same colour as your red dress, and now your enflamed cheeks.

Your eyes flickered to the barstool next to him. "May I?"

Bucky pulled his eyes away from your figure and nodded sheepishly. "O-Of course," he stammered, pulling the stool out for you.

You thanked him as you sat down, and ordered a beverage for yourself. You laughed flirtatiously as your eyes flickered from the space in front of you to the handsome soldier sitting beside you, his sloppy 'im so checking you out' game going strong.

"Sergeant Barnes, you know taking a photograph would last longer."

He smirked, a small dimple forming above the left side of his lip. "Why would I want a photograph when I have the real deal sitting right in front of me?" he whispered.

Your eyes were glued together for a moment longer before he cleared his throat, his cheeks becoming slightly enflamed.

"You do realise that you dont have to call me Sergeant Barnes ma'am," he smirked, "we're not training at the moment."

"Well you don't have to call me ma'am then" you said, an eyebrow raised.

You watched him as he chuckled softly, before taking a small swig of his alcoholic beverage.

"You know," you began, turning to face the beautiful soldier once more, your eyes locked on his, "I was terrified that you wouldn't return when Captain America went after your group."

You watched as the soldiers eyes widened slightly. "You were?"

You nodded. You admired his features as they softened, his eyes scanning your every feature on your face. "You don't realise how glad I am that you finally told me that," he laughed.

You grinned. "Are you excited for the war to be over?"

He sighed, before looking down at his beverage. "Absolutely,"

You felt your heart sink a little as soon as he said those words. You were heavily involved in the war effort, and once the war was over, you had a gut feeling that you would never see this beautiful solider again.

But his sudden voice pulled you from your thoughts. "Only if i get to see your beautiful face everyday." He smirked. "What about you, (Y/N)?"

As you were still recovering from your giddiness from his last statement, you sighed. "Oh i don't know. When the war is over, I might even go dancing."

You watched as Bucky's complexion shifted to absolute delight, as you remembered that dancing was his passionate forte. You leaned into him as he began to place his lips ever-so closely to your earlobe. "Then what are we waiting for?" he whispered into your ear.

You chuckled slightly, before leaning into his ear and whispering, "The right partner."

You pulled away and met the quizzical look of the soldier, his eyebrow raised.

"Which is you," you began, "if you would like to take it."

His expression softened as he pulled his bottom lip between his teeth, before running his tongue over it. You watched a bit too closely as your heart began to race a million miles an hour.

"You're mine tonight, (Y/N)" he whispered, before taking your hand and leading you to the dance club across the street, and you grinned, as you knew that after this night, you became his permanently.

WELL I DONT KNOW ABOUT YOU GUYS BUT THIS WAS EXTREMELY HARD FOR ME TO WRITE AS I WAS SUFFERING FROM EXTREME PRE-WINTER SOLIDER BUCKY. OMG. So lets just pretend that Bucky doesn't fall off the train and you actually become his in this one shot. Okay?

Btw thanks for the reads, votes and comments guys! Means a lot, yous are the best x
