I'm Scared: Part Two

You had been living with Bucky for a few months now, and you were adjusting to living life in Wakanda. Your room was right next to Bucky's, and you made it your own, thankful that your future "mother in law" took you to the city to pick out furniture and such. It was so serene here. The people were so very kind and friendly, and you loved the children. Bucky and you would never admit it, but Imani was your favorite.

Your even managed to set up his laptop, and Bucky and you had been Skyping with Steve. You were shocked to see his hair had grown as well as his facial hair. Thankfully Bucky let you shave his face and trim his hair.

The more you both talked to Steve, the more you wanted to ask him to come so you and Bucky could get married. Tonight you were going to Skype Steve, and Bucky and you had been talking about asking him.

"Do you think now is a good time Bucky?" You looked down only to feel his soft hand lift your head up as his thumb traced your jawline.

"Doll, I think know is as any good of a time to ask. We've been together through everything since we were toddlers when I was in control of my own body. When we were separated, we eventually came back together. We love each other for all that we are. Y/n I'm tired of waiting. I love you, and all my life I've known that I wanted to be with you forever. I think we should really ask if Steve can make it. I know you always talked about how you wanted him to walk you down the isle."

You looked in a different direction trying to gain your thoughts.

"Hey... Hey y/n if you want to wait longer that's fine, but I know we've been talking about it. You have sounded so sure." He pushed a strand of your hair behind your ear.

"I was... I am... I just... I'm being selfish." You frowned looking back into his ocean orbs.

"I don't understand?" He questioned as his eyebrows furrowed.

"I just wish our families could be with us on our wedding day." You tried to not cry.

"I know they aren't with us physically, but they're with us in our hearts. I don't think it's selfish at all. I feel the same way, but it's okay." He kissed your forehead. His comfort brought you back to where you were, and a smile creeped up on your lips.

"Let's ask Steve then."

"You sure?"

"Yes I'm sure. I love you Bucky, and I'm tired of waiting as well."

Shuri had yet to come with his replacement, but that didn't take away from his raw strength. Bucky picked you up spinning you around until he put you down to kiss you.

You wrapped your arms around his neck when you broke the kiss leaning your head on his right shoulder. Bucky kept his arm securely around your waist as you both began to sway in each other's arms. You continued to do so as he sightly hummed his own melody.

"Doll... It's time." He pulled away realizing it was close to when your set time to Skype Steve was.

You went to the computer as you got it ready to call Steve. You looked down to your left hand where your engagement ring had been in it's place for perhaps eighty something years. It had dulled over the years, but you still remembered the moment he proposed.

Bucky had just told you he had been drafted to fight. You were a mess crying into his shoulder as he rubbed your back trying to soothe your uneasy nerves. When your cries had subsided he pulled away giving you a warm smile.

"Doll... I.... I didn't want this to happen to us, but when I come back, when I come back home to you"

He got on one knee causing you to gasp. "I know it's not the best time to do this, but will you marry me?"

You nodded as he pulled out the gold band with a pearl sitting on the top. He slipped it on kissing you sweetly. The next day he left, and you wouldn't see him again for another eighty years.

Bucky sat beside you giving you that same smile that comforted you so long ago. He held your hand as you got ready for Steve to pop up on the screen.

Steve appeared on screen, and he was in a dimly lit room. He smiled once he saw the both of you. "Y/n, Bucky. Hey."

"Hey Stevie." You smiled leaning on Bucky's shoulder.

"How are my two best friends?" Steve said as he looked behind his computer.

"We're doing well. Steve... I think y/n and I are finally going to get married, and we were wondering if you could come here to be with us?" Bucky told Steve.

"Of course I will, as long as T'challa lets me enter in." He smiled shaking his head. "I'm still going to get to walk you down the isle aren't I?" He turned his gaze to you.

"Of course you are Stevie, no one will replace that spot." You grinned.

"MY SON'S GETTING MARRIED TODAY!" Shuri squealed as she went headed to your room to bring you your dress.

"My daughter in law." She smiled as she hugged you. "Here's the dress." She smiled.

It was beautiful. You weren't a dress person, but this dress was beautiful. It was simple, but it also had blue and gold tribal patterns in homage to Wakanda, T'challa, and Shuri for letting you and Bucky live here in safety.

"Now every princess deserves a crown on her wedding day." She smiled as she put a floral crown on your head. "There."

"Wow. Bucky isn't going to be able to take his eyes off of you." You turned around to see Steve leaning in the door post smiling.

"Steve." You smiled brightly hugging him. "Thank you for coming. I know it's kinda hard, but it means the world to Bucky and me."

"Oh y/n, I wouldn't miss y'all's wedding for the world." He squeezed you tight. "Now let's get you to Bucky, yeah?"

"Yeah." You giggled as happy tears escaped your eyes.

Shuri already left to go sit with her brother and the other villagers by the lake. Imani was your little flower girl as she scattered flowers down the isle. Steve opened the door to Bucky's and your house and began to lead you outside.

Bucky's back was to you as you walked to the lake. He too was in some tribal clothing. Soon you were right behind him.

Steve tapped Bucky's shoulder, "Pal, your bride is here." Steve whispered as he went to his seat.

Bucky turned around gasping, and you both couldn't help but shed a few tears.

"You look so beautiful." He whispered as he took hold of your hand.

"You look handsome yourself." You giggled wiping your tears away.

Soon Bucky slipped your ring on your finger, and since Shuri hadn't finished Bucky's arm his wedding band was strung on a necklace that you put over his head and around his neck so he could wear it until Shuri gave him his new arm.

Bucky didn't wait to kiss you as soon as the preacher said I now pronounce you, Bucky's lips were on your own. You pulled apart giggling when you heard Shuri shout, "Wooo that's my boy. Yaaaaaassss."

You and Bucky just laughed more when T'challa rolled his eyes. Then everyone threw flower petals over your heads as you walked down the isle.

The reception was underneath the trees where fairy lights had been strung. The party was fun, and you danced with Bucky as well as Imani and Steve.

"Thanks for letting me be apart of your wedding." Steve hugged you.

"You don't have to leave so soon you know." You frowned.

"I'm afraid I do. I can't stay in one place for long. I'm going to go say bye to Buck, but I promise I'll see you again one day. One day this will all be done, and when it is I'll be there to see you." He hugged you and just like that he was gone.

"So... I was thinking... Maybe we could ask T'challa if we could go out the border for our honeymoon." Bucky asked as he wrapped his arm around you.

You turned to face him pulling your whisk up to dot his nose with icing, "Maybe so. Though... The last time I tried to call him or Shuri, they never answered."

"Well I'm going to go call real quick." He took a lick of the icing before going to call. You were making a cake simply because you could. You began to put the icing on the cake.

"Neither of them answered."

You stopped frosting the cake as you looked out the window, "I think I know why." You pointed at the smoke and jets far away.

Bucky looked out with you. "Bucky... Do you think they're okay? Do we need to go help?"

"Doll, T'challa and Shuri know what they're doing. Trust me, if they needed us, they would've come."

You nodded looking down.

"Hey it's all going to be fine. I promise." He kissed the top of your head. "How about we wait a day, and then if it seems like they need our help we'll help."

You wish you hadn't looked out the window, because it made you uneasy the rest of the night.

"Bucky... Can... Can you tell me a story?" You snuggled into his chest.

"Well, there was a guy who loved a girl and their story was complex. When they were separated they always founda way back to each other because they were so in love. Their love was was stronger than any storm that could come their way. Recently they were united again, and all was well. The only problem was that the boy missed being able to hold both of his love's hands at the same time. He was at disadvantage because of his missing arm, but he had managed. His love had been especially helpful, but if there was anything he missed about having a prosthetic, it was being able to hold her hands. He could go without his arm the rest of his life if he had to, but that would be one thing he missed. The boy carried on though, knowing that the people who brought him in would provide him an arm one day. Until then and regardless he lived happily with his love, and they were glad they finally could be in each other's arms."

You frowned looking up to him, "Bucky... Why didn't you tell me?"

"I hadn't really been thinking about my arm until you came back. You've been so helpful, but I really do miss getting to hold both your hands. I just... I love holding your hands. It helps me for many reasons. One of which is to help me know that my mind hasn't made all this up."

You hugged him rubbing his back, "This is certainly all real, and I'm not leaving your side. Your "mom" knows what she's doing. We gotta cut her some slack she must be close to 200 years old."

Bucky laughed shaking his head as you pulled away to look at him. "Heh, that's hilarious." He continued to laugh.

You placed your hand on his cheek smiling, "No matter what happens, I love you for you and all that you are Mr Barnes."

"I love you too, Mrs Barnes." He kissed you sweetly before cuddling with you once again.

You both enjoyed yourself until a knock at the door broke the silence.

To be continued...
