You're Beautiful
Prompt: The reader lives in Stark Tower and works for Tony as a computer engineer. She has a crush on Bucky but is very shy and afraid of even talking to him. She also has a cat named Kitty.
A/N: Sorry, I wasn't sure if the person who requested this imagine wanted Kitty to be he or she and I hate using 'it' when talking about a pet so I just wrote Kitty as a 'she'.
I don't know how to feel about this imagine. I feel like I'm making Bucky into a complete different person in these imagines but they are fan fictions so... Anyway...
Warning(s): talking about insecurity (didn't go to specifics), i guess you can call this a fluffy imagine
***
ATTENTION!! I am not saying the way the reader is talking about herself in this imagine is fine. I am not saying it's okay to compare yourself to other people. You are all beautiful in your own ways and hopefully all you people out there who feel insecure will learn to love yourselves because you deserve it. We all have insecurities and some of them are parts of ourselves that we can't change. You are beautiful even with your flaws and you deserve to be happy with yourself and you deserve to love yourself.

You tried to manage with all your things alone as you neared the doors of Stark Tower. You opened the door, leaned against it to keep it open as you threw in a couple of suitcases before grabbing a backpack and the carrier Kitty, your cat, was in and stepped inside.
You felt eyes on you as you tried to kick the suitcases forward while you had your hands full. You looked up and saw the woman behind the counter looking at you with a small smile and you felt your cheeks heat up. You heard Kitty letting out a meow from inside the box and you apologized to your cat. "I'm sorry, you'll get out soon."
"Hi, how can I help you?" The woman asked with a friendly smile as you got in front of the counter.
"Hi, I'm Y/N Y/L/N. I'm here to—"
"Y/N!" You heard someone call. You looked to the direction of the noise and saw Tony Stark stand in front of the elevator with his arms open. "Just in time." He said and offered a hand for you to shake as he neared you.
You shook his hand and sent him a small smile. "Thank you, for letting me move in here." You thanked him and swung your backpack on your shoulder and trying to grab the other suitcases.
Tony moved your hand away and pointed to the elevator over his shoulder. "I'll ask someone to get these for you." He said, referring to the suitcases. "Why don't we take a little tour of the tower and get you comfortable?" He suggested as he placed his hand to your back and guided you to the elevator.
"Yes, one second, please." You said, jogging over to Kitty's carrier, opening the door and taking her out. You held her in your arms as you walked back to Tony. "Is it okay if I bring Kitty along?" You asked and Tony nodded.
Tony showed you through all the rooms you needed to see before you went to the labs. Tony introduced you to Bruce who was currently working. Bruce took of his glasses and walked over to you, shaking your hand. "Nice to meet you, Y/N. The only thing Tony has been talking about for weeks is how excited he is to have you working for him. It's great to have you here."
You let out a small laugh, "Nice to meet you too, Dr. Banner."
"If you want, you can take the day off and get your bedroom ready, you can start working tomorrow."
"Thank you, Mr. Stark."
"Please, call me Tony."
You nodded and thanked him again before calling for Kitty who was currently wandering around the lab, getting to know the new surroundings. She came up to you almost immediately and followed after you to your bedroom. You opened the door and saw all your bags in the room already. You also saw a man standing in front of you. When he turned around you could feel your breath hitching in your throat.
The man was tall, had his brown long hair in a bun. He was wearing jeans and a white tank top. He swiped some sweat off of his forehead and turned around to face you. When he turned around you saw that his left arm was made of metal.
"Oh, hi!" He said and you lifted up your gaze to his face which only made you whimper quietly. The man was absolutely perfect. "You must be Y/N, the computer engineer." He said and you nodded, not trusting your voice to form a sentence without cracking. "I'm Bucky." He said and extended his hand towards you. He was about to shake your hand but stopped when he felt something pushing up against his leg. He looked down to see Kitty and he crouched down. "Oh, you have a cat!" He said excitedly and let the cat sniff his hand before patting her. "What's the name?" He asked and turned to look up at you again.
"Uhm, Kitty." You mumbled, rushing to the boxes sprawled across the room. You quickly started to take out your clothes and putting them in your wardrobe, trying your hardest to do something other than stare at him. You just found it hard not to stare, he was so attractive.
"So when do you start working?" He asked from behind you.
"Tomorrow." You kept your answers short. You just couldn't muster up a full sentence. Being in his presence made you feel flustered and insecure. He was so beautiful and you weren't the most confident person in the world. You felt like if he could get a good look of you, he'd run away. You already knew living with him was going to be hellish. You felt a crush on him creeping up and just wished with all your heart he would just leave so you could try to calm yourself down.
Bucky picked up on your strange behavior and stood up, setting Kitty down. "Well, I'll... I'll go, then." He said quietly and you only nodded, still rushing around the room, putting your things in place. "Make yourself at home." He said before going out the door and closing it slowly.
You sighed in relief when you heard the door close and let yourself fall on the bed. You ran your hands over your face and felt Kitty pushing her head against your side. You petted her head and she cuddled up next to you. You sighed again, closing your eyes and thinking about ways to avoid Bucky for at least few weeks. You were feeling very embarrassed about the encounter you just had with him.
***
Weeks went by and your little crush on Bucky wasn't so little anymore. You saw him almost every day.
You didn't always work in the lab, sometimes you were ordered to go to the area where the Avengers lived and help them with some technical problems. There weren't really that many but for the past week they had been increasing. What you found to be a bit odd was that somehow Bucky was always there. At one point it really started to feel like he was doing it all on purpose.
Once again you were called in to the common room to fix what was wrong with the TV. You sighed as you stepped inside the room only to see Bucky playing with the remote. You cleared your throat and he turned around immediately, dropping the remote on the couch and he sent you a small smile. "There's something wrong with the TV." He said and gestured for you to sit down on the couch.
You made your way over to the couch and sat down, took the remote and started working on the problem. You felt the cushion move under you and felt your cheeks heat up slightly as you looked to your side to see Bucky sitting very close to you. You continued to work in silence, focusing on fixing the problem. All the focus was soon lost when Bucky spoke up. "Why do you hate me?"
You shot your head to the side immediately and looked at him with wide eyes. "I... I don't... hate you." You stammered and turned back to the TV and tried to continue working on fixing it. It was hard, though. You started to feel very nervous and your hands shook while you held the remote.
"Then why do you keep avoiding me?" He asked with a frown on his face. It clearly bothered him and he was determined to finally find out the reason behind it.
You didn't dare to look at him while you were trying to figure out what to say. You wanted it to seem like you were busy with the TV just so you wouldn't have to have the conversation Bucky started. You pressed random buttons on the remote, probably making the problem harder to fix just so you didn't have to confront him.
Bucky tried to wait patiently but not knowing the reason you were distancing yourself from him was eating him alive and he couldn't wait to find out any longer. He grabbed the remote from you which made you jump slightly. You finally turned to look at him and saw the slightly annoyed look on his face.
You two just stared at each other for a moment, you stared at him with fear and he stared at you with frustration. You furrowed your brows as you took in his annoyance. Bucky sighed and calmed a bit, his annoyed expression turned into a sad one. You didn't know how to react as he looked at you with his sad eyes so you just stayed quiet and waited for him to speak up.
"Do you hate me?" He asked, his voice sounding much more gentle than it did few minutes before.
You shook your head and chewed the inside of your cheek. You dropped your gaze to your lap and watched your hands as you played with your fingers. You couldn't look at him in the eye even for a second without feeling nervous.
"Did I do something wrong? Have I been rude to you? Are you afraid of me?" He asked, bombing you with a question after question.
"No," you finally spoke up. "You haven't done anything wrong. You have not been rude to me in the slightest and I am not afraid of you." You mumble and lift your gaze to his. "I'm just a bit nervous."
Bucky furrowed his brows and turned on his seat to face you with one of his legs bent in front of him and his arm resting on the backrest, almost touching your back. "Why are you nervous?"
"I, uhm..." You stammered as you thought of a way to explain to him why you felt the way you did. "It's... It's complicated." You waved it off and stood up from the couch only to be held back.
You turned around as you felt a cool metal hand wrapped around your wrist. The feeling of the cool material gave you chills and made butterflies erupt in your stomach because of the contact. You looked down at his hand on your wrist and felt your cheeks heat up. You turned to look at him with your bottom lip between your teeth and couldn't resist the pleading look in his eyes. "Please, tell me."
You sighed and sat back down. Bucky let go of your wrist and leaned back on the couch, waiting for you to get settled as well.
You bit the skin on your fingertips nervously and avoided looking Bucky in the eye. You knew you were going to have to do it at some point.
You took a deep breath and turned to look him in the eye, feeling your cheeks flush instantly. "If I'm being honest here," you began but paused, taking another deep breath before continuing. "I am a bit scared when I'm around you." You said and saw Bucky look down with a sad look in his eyes. "No, not like that! I mean... I just feel very intimidated when I'm around you because... because I like you." You muttered.
Bucky shot his head back to look at you with his eyebrows lifted. "What?"
"I, uhm... it's... Uhh..." you began, trying to find the right words. "It's just a small crush," you tried to convince him. "I just felt so scared because... You're so handsome, sweet and in such good shape," you said while you let your eyes take in every inch of his toned body, shaking your head in embarrassment after. "And I'm—"
"You're what?" He asked firmly. He had a faint idea of what you were about to say. Something bad, degrading about yourself, you were clearly feeling insecure. Anyone could see it, but nobody could notice it better than the former Winter Soldier. "Don't answer that." He said quickly and you turned to look at him in confusion. "Y/N, you're beautiful." He said and you felt your cheeks heat up even more.
"But I'm—" You started as you looked down at your body.
"Beautiful." Bucky repeated.
Bucky placed his fingers under your chin and lifted your head up. You turned your gaze to him and saw him looking at you with a small smile. "You shouldn't feel insecure."
You let out a snort and looked away, "Yeah, it's kind of hard being around all these... super people."
Bucky furrowed his brows, "What do you—"
"Okay, let's talk about Natasha and Wanda for a second. They're both very beautiful and in very good shape. I'm nothing compared to them."
"You're not—"
"Would you look at me?" You exclaimed. "I am nothing compared to them."
"You shouldn't compare yourself to them." He said, making you roll your eyes. "You're beautiful." He said for the third time in just a few minutes. "What do I have to do to make you believe that?"
"Nothing you do will make me believe that." You said quietly. "You could try but—" You started but stopped as you saw the grin on Bucky's face. "What?"
"You'll see." He said before standing up. You turned your head and saw him walking away. Wondering what was going on in his mind, you sighed.
You saw Kitty jumping on the couch and you petted her head. "Do you know what that was all about?" You asked Kitty to which she only meowed. You shook her head and grabbed the remote from the couch as Kitty made herself comfortable on your lap. "I guess we'll see." You sighed as you began working on the problem.

The next day you felt very surprised when a bouquet of flowers was delivered to your desk at work. Your first thought was that someone sent them to the wrong address, but then you realized, who would accidentally send something to the Stark Tower?
You thanked the delivery man and looked at the card attached to the bouquet.
Chin up, doll.
You're beautiful.
You lifted your chin up and saw Bucky behind the glass door of the lab. He gave you a slightly sheepish smile before walking away.
You were left standing there with the card in your hand, staring out of the glass walls surrounding the large room.
"Y/N?" Bruce asked in concern. "What's going on?"
You shook your head, placing the card in your desk drawer before moving the bouquet to the side of your desk, out of your way. "Nothing." You muttered before getting back to work.
Not long after that a box of expensive looking chocolates was brought to your desk. The box was small but lovely and cute. You ended up eating the chocolates in one sitting. As you went to throw the box in the trash, you saw a note fall out. You picked up the note and read it.
The next time you think of beautiful things, don't forget to count yourself in.
You furrowed your brows and turned to look up again to see Bucky walk past the lab in a discreet manner. You stared at him as he passed by with your mouth still full of chocolate. He turned to look at you briefly, trying to suppress a smile from making its way to his lips.
***
The same continued for a few days, you had gotten plenty of bouquets that were now covering your desk and the floor around it and few were even in your room. You had also gotten so many boxes of chocolate that your drawers were full of them.
You groaned as you saw another bouquet on your desk, you stomped over and took the note, shoving it in the pocket of your lab coat, not even bothering to read it. You took the bouquet and placed it on the ground next to your desk.
Tony and Bruce noticed your behavior and gave each other questioning looks. "Y/N?" Tony called and you turned to look at him, annoyed. "You okay?"
"Fine." You answered shortly before getting back to work.
"Are—"
"Yes, I'm sure." I sigh, running a hand over my face before getting up and going to the bathroom. You closed the door quickly and moved over to the sink. You placed your hands under the tab and turned it on, letting some water run down to your curled palms. You then rinsed your face with the water, wishing the fresh water would help you relax. You gently wiped the water from your face with a towel that was neatly folded on the counter.
Before you left the bathroom, you turned to look at yourself in the mirror, seeing the frown on your face and you tried to shake it off.
You walked out of the bathroom and to your desk, looking over at the clock and seeing that your workday was coming to an end. You sighed before finishing your work and getting up from your desk.
You grabbed a box of chocolates from your drawer and started leaving. You yelled your goodbyes to Bruce and Tony and neared the door. You stopped in your tracks as you saw a note on the door.
Dear Y/N, it said.
You took the note in hand and turned it over, seeing the all too familiar handwriting.
You groaned and crumbled up the note in your fist in anger. Who knew being called beautiful could annoy you this much.
You stepped out of the door and turned to walk to your room only to see another note on the wall. You rushed to it, grabbed it and read the message on it.
Same old, same old...
You continued your way, only to find more notes. You grabbed them all, not even caring if you ripped them or not. The notes lead a path to the kitchen where you heard Bucky whistling.
You stomped over to the doorway, "Bucky," you started before you could even see him, "I know you mean well but you have to stop with these—" You stopped talking as you saw the room lid up in candles and Bucky wearing an apron in front of you, spatula in hand.
You looked at the table, seeing two seats served, the table was beautifully decorated. You smelled your favorite food being cooked and you turned to look at Bucky again. "Wha—What's this?" You asked quietly, looking all over the room as if searching for the answer.
"Didn't you get the note?" He asked.
You looked through the notes in your hands but Bucky took them away from you. "Not those." He said and placed them on the counter. "The one that was attached to the bouquet this morning." He said and raised his brow.
You reached your hand to the pocket of your lab coat to find the note from earlier crumbled. You opened up the note, seeing that it told you to go to the kitchen after work. You let out a small, embarrassed laugh and shook your head slightly. "I'm sorry." You apologized, looking up at Bucky again. "I was very tired and annoyed... I'm really sorry."
Bucky hummed, accepting your apology. "Sounds like you had a rough day." He muttered. "Why don't you take a seat?" He asked and pointed at the table with the spatula he was still holding.
You nodded, smiling as you made your way to the table. That's when you noticed Kitty, who immediately jumped on your lap. You ran your fingers from her head to her back and she started purring, lying down.
You sat at the table, petting Kitty and fawning over Bucky as you watched him cook your favorite meal.
***
After finishing your food, you and Bucky stayed in the kitchen. You two had such great time together that you just didn't want to end it.
"I didn't have enough time to make desert, sorry." Bucky said. "I didn't want to keep you waiting."
"Well," You started and took the box of chocolates and laid it on the table in front of you. "It's a good thing I brought this along." You smiled and opened the box, offering him one which he gladly took. "But seriously, don't worry about it. You've done so much already. The chocolates, flowers, notes—"
"I thought it was a good idea." He said under his breath.
"It was!" You assured him. "It was so sweet. I just didn't understand to appreciate it enough." You gave him an apologetic smile. "Thank you."
"It was nothing." Bucky shrugged, waving his hand dismissively.
He may have said it was nothing, but you just new he must had spent a lot of time on it.
And so much money.
"How much did you spend on all those gifts?" You decided to ask.
"You don't want to know."
"Bucky!" You exclaimed. "You shouldn't have."
"It's not a problem, really." He assured you, taking your hand in his. "Worth every penny."
You smiled, letting your thumb run across the skin on the back of his hand, making him smile as well. "Thank you." You said, smile growing on your face. "I don't think anyone has ever gone through so much trouble just for me."
"It was for a good cause." He said with a chuckle. "Did it work?"
Your brows furrowed, "What?"
"Do you believe me now?"
You were about to ask again but you then realized what he was talking about.
He had really taken his mission to make you believe you were beautiful seriously.
But did he succeed?
"I don't know." You sighed, pulling your hand away from his. "But—"
"You're beautiful." He interrupted you.
"You don't have to say that all the time." You rolled your eyes but the smile never left your lips.
"You're beautiful."
"Stop—"
"You're—"
"Okay!" You exclaimed, throwing your hands up. "Thank you, you can stop saying that now."
"You really think I will?" He questioned.
You shrugged, you weren't sure.
"Because I won't."
Now you knew.
"Well," You sighed and got up from the table. "Save it for the next date, maybe?" You suggested. "I already have enough flowers and so much chocolate, which I could live on for months."
Bucky smiled, "Alright." He said before you neared the door. He let his gaze follow you until you were close to the doorway. "Wait!" He got up as well, walking over to you, placing his hands on the sides of your face and pulling you closer to him. His lips met yours and you dropped the box you were holding.
Bucky took you by surprise. You barely had time to comprehend what was going on until he kissed you.
You stayed still with your hands on your sides, not knowing what to do in your surprised state, still somehow your lips moved perfectly in sync with his.
Before you could do anything, Bucky pulled away and said something which you missed. "S-sorry?" You stuttered.
"Good night." He said with a smirk, clearly enjoying seeing you so baffled.
"Oh, uhh—" You said, running your fingers through your hair. "Good night." You muttered and crouched down to pick up the box before turning around and leaving.
You turned around once more and gave him a small wave which he returned before you finally walked to your room.
Bucky stayed behind. He groaned as he realized he had to clean up all by himself. He turned around, looking at Kitty who was on the floor right beside him. "Do you want to help me clean up?" He asked and before he knew it, Kitty bolted away.
Bucky laughed to himself and started cleaning. Of course he could have used some help but it was already late and he just knew the others would not be happy if they walked in to see the mess the next morning.
Even though cleaning the kitchen was a pain in the ass, all that still seemed worth it. Worth it because of the wonderful night he and you had had.
And he was really looking forward to the next one.
