Bucky wasn't fond of scary movies, you learned that when you were having a movie night in your shared apartment one rainy day. You noticed that Bucky was a little tense but you thought it would just go away.
Well, it didn't.
The tension in the movie just built up more and more and although you didn't find it that scary, Bucky seemingly did.
When it was time for a jumpscare, you jumped but only because Bucky screamed and chucked the remote at the TV, cracking the screen.
You turned to look to your side to see Bucky looking at the screen with wide eyes. He had backed up and sat up on the backrest as if he was trying to get away from the movie. He turned to look at you with wide eyes and sat back down, finally feeling somewhat relieved that the movie wasn't showing anymore. "What the hell was that?" He asked with a low voice.
"A movie?" You stated but it came off as a question instead. You had to purse your lips to stop yourself from smiling. Seeing Bucky in this state was humorous. A person who's been through some brainwashing and so many other awful, traumatic things he sure got scared of an unrealistic scary movie.
"What kind of person would voluntarily watch that?" He asked, looking at you in confusion.
"It's fun to get scared sometimes." You shrugged, making him look at you with a frown.
His brows furrowed and eyes narrowed as he stared at you for a few seconds before whispering, "What is wrong with you?"
You rolled your eyes and got up from the couch, going over to the bathroom.
Bucky quickly shot up from the couch and ran after you. He grabbed your hand and turned you around to face him. "Where are you going?" He asked, eyes widening in fear.
"To the bathroom."
"You can't leave me alone!" He said with a rushed voice as he grabbed your shoulders and shook you lightly.
You pushed his hands away, "Bucky. I'm just going to the bathroom."
Bucky nodded and let you go but he still stayed by the bathroom door, waiting for you to come out.
When you finally did, seeing Bucky leaning against the wall next to the door, you sighed. "Let's just go to bed."
Bucky nodded and you wrapped an arm around his back and lead him to the bedroom.

Few weeks went by and you decided to try watching a scary movie once again. Bucky immediately refused, "No, no way in hell am I going to watch one of those sick films again." He said, crossing his arms as he lied down on his side, facing away from you. "No sane person would."
You let out a sigh and realized that you couldn't make him watch it voluntarily. So you forced him to do it. "It's for your own good!" You insisted as you tried to pull him off your bed where he was sulking. "This movie isn't actually that scary! And it is not real."
Bucky finally turned over to his back and looked up at you. "You promise?" He asked with a pout.
You chuckled, nodding. "I promise."
Bucky then nodded and got up, grabbing your hand and you lead him to the living room. You made some popcorn before going over to the living room. You put on the movie and walked over to the couch, sitting down right beside him. You offered him some popcorn which he gladly took a handful off and started watching the movie.

"You lied to me!" Bucky yelled out as he placed his head on your lap, turning his body so he faced away from the TV.
You groaned, letting your head fall back against the backrest. "I don't understand!" You said in frustration, turning to look down at Bucky who had grabbed your t-shirt, fiddling the fabric between his fingers. "This isn't even scary."
Bucky turned to look up at you and sent you a glare. "I can still hear the movie." Bucky whined and you let out yet another groan. You reached to the coffee table and took the headphones on it, plugging them in your phone. You handed Bucky the headphones which he took in his hand.
"Since you're too scared, I'm going to play some 40s music and you can just listen to that while I watch the movie, okay?"
Bucky nodded and put the headphones on. He started humming along and mumbling some of the lyrics which made you laugh. It was hard to concentrate on the movie when Bucky was being so unbelievably adorable.
He still turned to look at the TV every once in a while, immediately regretting it as he saw whatever terrible scene was playing.
After the movie ended, you went to bed almost immediately. You got ready, changed into your nightwear and got under the covers. "Good night." You whispered to Bucky who got in right after you. He placed a soft kiss on your lips and got under the covers as well.
You fell asleep quickly, leaving Bucky lying wide awake with the brutal images of the movie playing in his mind on a loop. He shuddered as another scene came to mind and he turned to his side to face you.
You were sound asleep. Bucky on the other hand was having trouble falling asleep. He was afraid to even close his eyes for a minute or a few.
He sighed quietly and took your arm in his hands, lifting it up and ducking under it. He took your other arm and wrapped it around himself as well.
"Bucky," he tensed a bit when he heard your voice. "What are you doing?"
"Oh, uhm..." He muttered, tightening his arms around you.
"Can't sleep?" You asked with a yawn. You felt him shake is head that was placed on your chest and you shooed his arms away, sitting up, leaning against the headboard. You looked at him, seeing his tired and slightly sad gaze even in the dim room. "Oh, honey." You cooed and placed your palm on his cheek, making him rest his face against it. "Come here." You opened your arms, inviting him to hug you.
It didn't take him more than a second to scoot closer to you and wrap his arms around you again. Your arms wound around him as you cradled him to your chest. You knew he got scared of scary movies but you had no idea he had trouble sleeping because of them. You ran your hand down from his head to his back, repeating the gesture a few times before just squeezing him as tightly as possible.
"Can you just... hold me for a while longer?" Bucky asked quietly, sounding like he was ashamed of asking.
You smiled, "Of course." You agreed, not being able to say no.
So you held him for a while, just comforting him until you started getting sleepy again. You lied down and Bucky wrapped his arm around your stomach, threw one of his legs over your lower body and rested his head on your chest, listening to your calming heartbeat.
He was clinging onto you like a child would cling onto their parents after having a nightmare. You didn't mind, though. As long as he was calm and at peace, everything was fine.
You rested one of your arm on his back, running your fingers through his hair as you finally felt sleep taking over your body. "If you feel like it," you started but got interrupted by a yawn, "you can wake me up."
"Okay," Bucky yawned as well, making sure that he was finally calm enough to fall asleep. "Thank you." He said and tilted his head slightly to place a kiss on your shoulder.
"Good night, Buck."
"Good night."
And even though Bucky might not have been able to sleep as well as normally, spending the night in your arms did calm him down and make him relax a bit. At least he got some sleep that night.
