Bucky doesn't notice it, but the others do and it just becomes a crazy house with all the different feelings.

A/N: THIS ENDED UP BEING SO LONG! But hey, I hope you like this, although it is a bit sad. I know I didn't really describe the others' feelings that much, I'm sorry! If you want a part two, please tell me. Also, there's some info about a possible part two after this imagine so make sure to check that out.

Warning(s): angst, unrequited feelings

"Y/N."

You could barely hear Sam trying to wake you up from your daydream as your gaze found its way to the metal-armed man.

His hair was slightly damp from the training session he had a while ago, his skin was still glistening with sweat and he wiped it off of his face with a towel while talking to Steve about something.

You stared in amazement as his beautiful pink, plump lips moved with every single syllable, making you bite your lip as you watched them move so calmly, so perfectly.

He ran his hand through his hair and looked around, seeing you. He waved and you returned the gesture, sending a smile his way before finally turning to Sam, not wanting to seem like you were ogling at Bucky for the last minute or two.

Sam continued to talk to you but you didn't listen. You nodded along for a few seconds before turning your attention to Bucky again. He patted Steve's arm before walking away from him. You watched the muscles in his back flex with every slight movement he made and found yourself letting out a quiet sigh.

You smiled as you saw his face light up but soon the smile your mouth had harbored turned into a frown when you saw who was the cause of his mood lift.

It was her.

Bucky's girlfriend who you didn't happen to like one bit.

Her hair was popping slightly in the way you had grown to hate as she made her way to Bucky. He placed a hand on her waist and bent down to give her a quick kiss and you swallowed down the gag reflex that was bound to come at the sight.

You looked away immediately, feeling your eyes sting as you blinked away the tears successfully. Although you could hide the physical evidence of the hurt you were feeling, you couldn't get rid of the gut-wrenching pain that you felt inside whenever you saw them together. It broke your heart to see them so happy.

You saw him starting to walk towards you and Sam and you shot up from your seat.

"Y/N!" You heard him call out to you and you stopped in your tracks. You chewed the inside of your cheek as you turned around, not even trying to fake a smile as you looked at the man you had a crush on, reminding yourself he was taken by someone else. "I was just wondering if—"

"Sorry, I'm busy." You said with a rushed voice. You tried to send him an apologetic smile but it came off as a frown instead. You then turned around again and fled.

Bucky's brows knitted together and he turned to Sam, "What's with her?" He asked, looking back at you, seeing you rushingly walk away from him.

"I don't know." Sam said as he turned to look at you fleeing as well. He really didn't know for sure but he did have a hunch of what might have been the reason for you to bolt away like that.

***

Whenever you saw Bucky, you couldn't help the smile making its way to your lips. It was just how you reacted when you saw the man you had a crush on but whenever she came along, you couldn't help feeling your heart shatter into million broken pieces.

What made it all much worse was that you saw them together all the time. She was the assistant to the Avengers, she was always there to inform you if there was a meeting or a mission to discuss. She always made sure everyone had everything they needed and that every plan was foolproof.

She was good at her job, you had to admit that.

She really did make everyone's life easier when she came along but at the same time, she made yours harder.

You didn't want to and shouldn't have blamed it all on her. She didn't know. She wasn't making you feel this way on purpose.

She was beautiful, intelligent, you assumed she was funny since she always made him laugh and she really did care for him, anyone could have seen it in her eyes.

You didn't see why Bucky wouldn't be with a woman like her. You didn't see any reason why he would have broken up with her.

You knew it was wrong but you kind of wished he would.

"Hey!" You said as you jumped over the back of the couch, landing next to Sam who was reading something. Resting your arm on the backrest, behind him, you leaned closer to see what he was reading but he only pulled away a bit, sending you a glare. You huffed, backing away. "Does anyone know where Bucky is?" You asked as you looked at everyone who was in the common room.

"Out with the wifey." Tony called out and you found your fingers digging onto the couch.

"Hey!" Sam exclaimed, slapping your hand that was gripping on his shoulder, not the couch as you had thought. He looked at you with wide eyes and you slowly pulled your hand away, eyeing him as you saw something in his eyes change. He narrowed his eyes and stood up, grabbing your wrist and pulling you away, leading you around the corner. "Okay, spill it." He said as you were out of sight from the others.

"Spill what?" You asked, clueless of what he meant.

"Safe space," he said, lifting his hands up, "You can curse her out, I won't tell anyone."

You furrowed your brows, "What are you talking about?" You asked with a scoff. "Curse who out?"

"You know," he shrugged, "the wifey."

And so you gasped softly. "Why—" You took a moment to swallow the small lump in your throat that had appeared suddenly. "Why would I curse her out?" Your voice became a bit higher, giving away the obvious nervousness you were feeling.

Sam only gave you look, silently telling you to stop with the bullshit and just tell him how you felt.

You took a deep breath, letting it out slowly before you leaned against the wall, crossing your arms. You looked away from Sam, feeling ashamed of what you were about to reveal.

"I really, really don't like her." You started off slow. "It's just... Whenever I see her I feel this revulsion, especially when she's around him. Whenever I see them together, it just... I—" You let out another sigh as you found yourself at a loss for words. You stayed quiet for a few seconds, trying to explain it as shortly as possible. "It hurts." You finally admitted.

Sam nodded, sending you a sad smile. "Really?" He asked, now scoffing lightly. "That's it? You're really not going to say anything bad about her?"

You shrugged, chuckling. "I usually become very angry when I see them together so the next time I run away, come follow me and I might curse her out."

"Can't wait." He said, wrapping his arm around your shoulders and guiding you back to the common room. "You know, I don't like her either." He whispered to you and you turned to look at him with wide eyes.

"Really?" You asked, smiling slightly. "I thought I was the only one!"

Sam only laughed.

***

Sam wasn't the only one who had noticed you having a crush on Bucky and your dislike towards his girlfriend.

It was quite obvious, really. You didn't really try to hide it all that much but somehow Bucky was completely oblivious to your feelings.

A few days after you had had a talk with Sam, Nat had come to your room, knocking firmly before entering without waiting for a permission. She got straight to the point and told you to talk to her about Bucky.

You didn't want to talk to her about him. You just brushed her off and continued with what you were doing on your phone but Natasha didn't give up that easily. She sat down on the bed that you were lying on and she looked down at you until you finally took your gaze off of your phone and looked at her. "What?" You asked, annoyed.

Natasha just sent you a sad smile and lied down next to you, wrapping an arm around your torso and resting her head on your upper chest.

You found yourself lifting your hands up in the air, looking down at her in confusion as she snuggled you. "Nat, what the hell?"

"You're hurting." She said softly. "I'm just trying to get you to talk."

You rolled your eyes and rested your arms over her back, continuing to scroll through your phone.

Natasha stayed with you for about half an hour as you continued to ignore her. She decided to do something and brought her fingers to your side, tickling you, making you squeal slightly. You shot her a surprised look and jolted as she repeated the action. "Nat!" You exclaimed. "Stop it!" You shouted in annoyance.

"Talk." She commanded, never letting go of you.

"Nat, I am not a dog who'll just bark at your command."

"Well yeah, a dog would be better trained than you." She muttered.

You cursed under your breath. "I hate you."

"I don't care." She mumbled.

You huffed and went back to your phone.

"You're really not going to talk?"

"Nope."

"I'll let go of you if you do."

You finally smiled, "This actually feels kinda nice." You admitted, making her chuckle as well.

Natasha continued to cling onto you and you kept scrolling through your phone for what felt like an eternity. You thought about talking to her about it and opened your mouth a couple of times just to close it again. You found yourself just holding your phone, not doing anything with it as you thought about talking to her and you finally decided to do so, "I hate seeing them together."

"What?" She asked, lifting herself off of you.

"I hate seeing them together." You repeated, setting your phone down and looking at her in the eye. "I could be having the greatest day of my life and the second I see them together my mood just drops."

Natasha nodded along as you spoke, sitting up and scooting over to the headboard, gesturing for you to lay your head on her lap. You lifted your brow with a questioning look on your face before shrugging and doing as she told you. You laid your head on her lap and her fingers found their way in your hair, massaging your scalp lightly as she waited for you to speak.

So you told her everything, how you felt about Bucky, about his girlfriend and how you felt about their relationship in general. Natasha stayed with you until you were done spilling your guts out. She held you when you cried, she tried to make you laugh when it looked like you needed it. She was very caring but only a few people were lucky enough to experience that.

You heard a knock on the door and quickly sat up, wiping away the remains of your tears and turned around, making sure the person didn't notice that you'd been crying.

"Hey, Bucky." Natasha said and you felt yourself tense.

"Hi." He said back. "What's going on?" He asked while looking at you facing away from him.

You turned around, sending him a small smile, trying to hide the fact that you had just been crying about this certain man. "Nothing, really. Why?"

"I was just thinking if you'd like to hang out or something." He said and you were about to say yes but gladly he continued before you did, "We're thinking of going—"

"We?" You asked, wondering who he was referring to. You did have an idea of who it might be.

"Yeah me and—"

"The wifey?" You asked, making him look at you in surprise before he nodded. You let out a sigh. "You know, I—"

"We have plans." Natasha butted in and placed a hand on your shoulder.

"Yeah!" You said. "We've already planned something."

"Oh," he sighed in disappointment. "Well, I better get going." He said and stepped out of the door. "It's a shame you have plans." He said, leaning against the door.

You just nodded while chewing the inside of your cheek. You hated lying to him, you really did but you didn't want to hurt his feelings by telling him you didn't want to spend time with her.

"Another time, then." He said before pursing his lips and closing the door.

You let out a breath you hadn't realized you were holding and fell back on the bed, your head hanging from the edge. You brought your hands over your face and huffed. "I hate lying to him."

"Well, you're not technically lying."

You sat up, lifting a brow. "What do you mean?"

"Let's have a movie night." Natasha said as if it was obvious. "We'll invite Wanda and maybe Clint because I'm sure he has nothing better to do." She said, seeing you pondering over her offer. "I'm sure it's better than sulking in your room."

You nodded. "Yeah, okay. Let's have some fun."

***

The next day, Bucky's girlfriend went to visit her family which finally gave you a reason not to say no when he asked you to hang out with him.

You decided to just stay in and just hang out in the common room. You were both on the couch, he was sitting and you were lying down with your legs resting on his lap as you laid your head on the armrest. Bucky's hands were placed on your legs, right above the knees, drumming a random rhythm as you told him about the night you had had with Clint, Wanda and Natasha.

As you were done, Bucky was reminded of something that had happened to him and his girlfriend the night before and he was about to tell you but you interrupted him and went back to telling him about the night you had had. You had done that a couple of times now, you really didn't want to hear what an amazing time he had had with his girlfriend.

"Why do you keep interrupting me?" He finally asked, not letting you finish your partly made up story about what had happened the night before. You had to make stuff up to continue telling the same stories over and over again without repeating everything. "I've been listening to you talking about your movie night for hours. Why can't I tell you what happened last night?"

You turned your head away from him and lifted your legs off of his lap, sitting straight as you stared ahead of you. You then shrugged while fiddling with your fingers.

Bucky sighed, "Wait a minute." He said as if he just realized something. Your whole body stiffened as you feared he might have finally caught up with your odd behavior and figured out what you were feeling. "You don't want to spend time with us because you're sad about not being in a relationship yourself. Is that it?"

You let out a quiet sigh of relief and nodded, turning to look at him. "Yeah, exactly." You shrugged.

"Hey, you'll find someone soon, I'm sure." He said as he looked into your eyes, reaching his hand to your face. He placed his palm on your cheek and you found your face heat up from the contact.

"What if I've already found someone?" You asked quietly.

"What?" Bucky asked in surprise, pulling away from you. "Who?"

"No—nobody." Your eyes widened and you stood up, starting to leave only to be pulled back down on the couch.

"Tell me." He said firmly.

"It... It doesn't matter. He doesn't feel the same way."

"Who is dumb enough not to feel that way about you?" He let out a small laugh which made you fight back the tears forming in your eyes.

"I don't think the answer would surprise you all that much." You said with a sad smile. You finally got up again, pushing Bucky's hand away.

"Where are you going?" He asked as you started leaving. "We were supposed to spend some time together." You could hear the slight hurt in his voice.

"I don't feel too well." You said, placing your hand on your forehead to fake weakness. "I'll see you later."

Bucky watched you walk away. He was left wondering who got you acting this way.

***

"How can the he not see that Y/N is infatuated by him?" Thor wondered out loud as he and a few others were spying on you behind the corner.

"I don't know." Tony snapped as he threw his arms in the air. "It's so infuriating!"

Steve watched his Bucky look at you walking away with pain in his eyes. "If we're being honest here, I can't believe how oblivious he is either."

"So oblivious." Tony said in frustration. "Even you would notice this! Even a blind person would notice that."

"Maybe he's in denial." Vision said and everyone turned to look at him.

"What do you mean?"

"He's in a relationship. He's a happy man. He might be afraid of hurting Y/N and as long as he doesn't know he is for sure, everything seems perfect."

"Wanda, read his mind."

"What?" Wanda asked. "I'm not going to read his mind I promised you all I wouldn't read your minds."

"I'll pay you."

"Tony, no." Wanda said with narrowed eyes.

"Do it, just this once."

"Tony, she already said—"

"What are you doing?" They heard Bucky call out and everyone turned to look at him still standing beside the couch.

"Nothing." Clint said.

Bucky raised a brow as he looked at the others, waiting for an answer.

"What do you think we're doing?" Thor asked, trying to avoid answering.

"You're spying on me but I have no idea why."

"God, you're clueless!" Tony yelled out, throwing his arms in the air as he started walking away as well.

Bucky looked at Tony, confused by his outburst and turned to the others again. "What?" He asked.

One by one they all started leaving until Steve was there, standing alone, looking around just to avoid eye contact with Bucky. After a while he let out a small sigh and started to leave.

Bucky was left standing alone once again and he stared at Steve walking away until he was out of sight. "Why is everyone so weird today?" He asked himself as he fell back on the couch, trying to figure out what was going on.

***

Days went by and everyone from the team, other than Bucky and yourself, were going absolutely mad.

They all thought Bucky would eventually figure it all out on his own but it hadn't happened yet. It didn't seem like it would in a long time.

They were so surprised because it was all so obvious. The way you looked at him, the way your mood instantly dropped whenever his girlfriend came around, all the lies you told him when he asked you to spend some time with him and her.

At one point some thought that he was doing it on purpose, that he couldn't be so oblivious to it all. Some disagreed and some remained quiet about it, not wanting to make any assumptions.

This of course caused a feud between the team.

You noticed how everyone felt so uneasy in each other's presence. You decided to ask them what was going when you were sitting with them in the common room. That immediately started a yelling match between them.

You watched them yell at each other for a while, expecting the yelling to end but it didn't. You decided to stop them and yell out for them to stop. They all quieted down as they heard you scream at them. Everyone in the room turned to look at you and you spoke up. "Is this what all this is about? Bucky not noticing how I feel about him?" You asked, letting out a scoff. "Why are you so affected by that?"

"Because you're hurting because of it." Steve said gently.

You shook your head. "No, I'm not hurt because of that."

"You're still hurting."

"What does it matter?" You yelled out. "He's happy."

"That doesn't mean you can't be as well." Clint shrugged, furrowing his brows.

"How can I?" You said with your voice slightly cracking. "I keep seeing them together everywhere." You said while running your hand over your face in frustration. "Does it hurt? Yes, of course it does. But I can't do anything about it because who wants to find out their friend has feelings for them? Nobody! I can't just drop that kind of a bomb on him. Like 'Hey, Bucky, yeah... I have feelings for you and—'"

"Y/N—"

"No, I'm not done 'and—'"

Natasha shot up from her seat and walked over to you, clamping your mouth shut. You yelled out, her hand muffling your voice. You looked at the others, seeing them stare at you with wide eyes. You furrowed your brows as you wondered what was going on.

Natasha leaned closer to your ear and let out a sigh. "Bucky's behind you." She said quietly and your eyes widened as well. "Seems like he heard you." She said and pulled away, sending you a sympathetic look.

You turned around with a grimace on your face and saw that he was indeed right behind you but not alone, no. He was with her.

She was looking at you with wide eyes, clearly surprised about what she had just heard. Her eyes then softened and she looked at you with sadness, clearly feeling sorry for you.

You found yourself getting mad. She wasn't angry at you, she genuinely did feel sorry for you. You were getting angry at her because she was so nice. If she was mean, at least you would have a better reason to hate on her. You couldn't believe how perfect she was. You wished she would have at least been mean but no, she was like a freaking angel and it irritated you.

"Y-you..." You heard Bucky mutter out and you turned to look at him, seeing him look at you in confusion.

Before he could continue, you pushed past Natasha and ran to your room, running away from the embarrassing situation you had just been in. Sam was quick to stand up and follow after you, leaving the others watch you run away.

Bucky turned to his girlfriend and apologetically told her it would be best if she just went home, telling her he needed to have a talk with you.

She nodded, agreeing. "She must be devastated," she said with a sad sigh. "I hope she'll be okay." She said before saying her goodbyes and kissing Bucky on the cheek and leaving.

"If Y/N was here to hear that, she would have gone absolutely mad." Natasha muttered, making Bruce nod in agreement.

Bucky turned to the others with an angry stare. "Y/N has feelings for me?" He asked, making the others nod. "And nobody thought to tell me?" He yelled out angrily.

"She didn't—"

"I don't care if she didn't want me to know!" Bucky interrupted. "You still should have told me! I can't believe I didn't know."

"I can't believe how you had no idea, it was so obv—"

"Stark," Bucky turned to give Tony a warning glare, "Don't."

Tony rolled his eyes and turned to look away from him.

"I need to go talk to her."

"I don't think that's a good idea." Wanda said but Bucky ignored her completely.

Bucky made his way to your bedroom and opened the door without knocking, seeing you yelling at Sam. You were telling him how much you hated Bucky's girlfriend which made Bucky even more confused. He really had no idea you felt that way about her.

Bucky cleared his throat, making you and Sam both turn to look at him. You brought one of your hands over your mouth. "Bucky, I—"

"Can we talk?" He asked gently, completely forgetting about all the anger he had felt as soon as he saw you.

You glanced at Sam, giving him a nod, silently telling him it's alright to leave.

Sam started leaving, not without sending Bucky a warning glare. He shut the door, leaving you and Bucky alone.

You sat down on your bed, fiddling with your fingers as you waited for Bucky to speak up which didn't happen for a while. You lifted your gaze from the floor and looked up at him, seeing him looking at you with pity. You turned your gaze back to the floor and sighed.

Bucky took this as a sign to finally speak up but not before going over to your bed and sitting down on it as well. He waited for a few seconds before turning his gaze to you, seeing you still looking down at your hands.

"So..." Bucky started, making you glance up at him. "You have feelings for me?" He asked.

You nodded, "Yeah, pretty much."

Bucky exhaled, shaking his head. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"If you were in my position, would you have done it?" You asked, lifting a brow.

"No." Bucky shook his head with a small chuckle.

And it got quiet again.

You glanced at Bucky, seeing him already looking at you. By looking at his face, you could tell he was feeling the way you were about this situation you were in. He hated how awkward it was between you two.

"I'm sorry."

Bucky's brows knitted together as he heard you apologize. "What for?"

"For this." You said as you waved your hand between the two of you. "I didn't mean for this to happen. I didn't want you to find out."

"But you should have told me."

"Why?"

"Because I care about you, Y/N!" Bucky said with an exasperate voice. "I want to know when you're hurting and I want to help you."

"How can you help me?" You scoffed.

"I'll... I—" he let out a sigh of defeat. "I don't know" He admitted. He wrapped and arm around your shoulders and pulled you closer to him. "But I want to help."

You couldn't help but smile and laid your head on his shoulder. "You're too kind." You muttered. "I hate that."

Bucky chuckled, resting his head on yours, running his hand up and down your arm.

"I bet your girlfriend hates me now." You said, not really caring, just saying it to not let silence take over.

"You know, saying her name won't kill you."

You lifted your head from his shoulder and glared at him. "Well, saying her name makes me want to vomit so I'd gladly avoid that from happening."

Bucky shook his head, still smiling.

"I was waiting for you to start defending her."

"Well, you can't like everyone." Bucky shrugged. "And being in the position you are in, I'm sure you would just get more upset if I started talking about her."

"Why are you so understanding?" You groaned, playfully hitting his chest. "You're an amazing friend, you know?"

Bucky sent you a gentle smile, "I try my best."

Silence.

This time the silence was a comfortable one.

You looked at him, seeing his lips slightly pursed. As your gaze fell down to his lips, you found yourself wanting to press yours on them.

Technically, you could have. Just one move, and your lips would be pressed against his. It would only take a second.

But you know you couldn't do it. First of all, he was taken, happily in a relationship and secondly, he didn't feel the same way.

That thought hurt you more than you would have thought. When you have a crush on someone, the person doesn't always feel the same way and you get over it but this time it felt like you never would.

You felt pathetic, absolutely pathetic. Feeling so strongly for a guy and letting it affect you so much.

You looked back up into his eyes and seeing him already looking at you so you turned away, not wanting to make him uncomfortable.

"I don't want to stop being friends." Bucky said honestly, making you look up at him again, feeling tears pricking your eyes.

"Maybe just for a few weeks?" You asked, blinking away the tears. "I think I just need some time alone."

"Don't." Bucky pleaded, his voice very quiet.

"Bucky," you let out a small sigh, "I think it will do some good to keep some distant for a while. You know, to get used to all this."

Bucky nodded. As much as he hated the fact that you needed time away from him, he understood that you were feeling hurt. If you believed some time away from him could help you out, he wasn't going to keep you from doing so. He wanted the best for you.

"So where will you go?"

"On a mission?" You suggested. "At least that would keep me occupied."

Bucky's lips turned into a sad smile and you looked up at him, feeling a frown making its way to your face.

"I'll miss you." Bucky said, making your heart ache.

"I'll miss you too." You said quietly, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling him as close to you as possible. You finally let the tears fall as you felt his arms wrap around you waist, squeezing you in his embrace.

He took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of your hair, which his face was buried in, as if it was the last time he'd ever see you and hold you.

He was sad. Of course he was. He was saying goodbye to his close friend, not forever but for a while. Also, the reason he had to say goodbye was him and that made him feel even worse.

He knew he was going to see you again but it really felt like he was saying his last goodbyes and it confused him. He didn't understand why he felt that way.

You pulled away from him, wiping away your tears and looking up at him, seeing him already looking down at you with sweet smile, making your stomach drop.

Bucky huffed, standing up and walking to the door. He gripped the door knob and turned it but didn't make a move to actually open the door. He turned to look at you. "I don't want to leave."

You laughed, wiping the skin under your eyes to get rid of the last trace of your tears. "Well, you can stay. I'm not going anywhere right now." You said and gestured to the bed.

Bucky unhanded the knob and made his way to your bed, lying down on it.

"Do you want to watch a movie?" You asked and he shrugged. You took your laptop and put on a movie and lied down on the bed with Bucky right beside you. You watched the movie in silence, neither of you really paying attention to it.

You both just kept thinking about how you wouldn't be able to see each other for a few weeks. Few weeks isn't that long but right at that moment it felt like an eternity.

Along those sad thoughts, there was a somewhat positive one that was running through both of your minds.

Maybe everything will be okay.

Okay, a little spoiler for a possible part two...

If you guys want a part two, that means Bucky and Y/N will end up together. I haven't really written an imagine that doesn't end that happily so I'm fine with leaving this as it is but if you guys want, I can make a part two but that means that Y/N and Bucky will end up together. It's your choice.
