It being mid May Bucky Barnes didn't know what to do for the four year olds fifth birthday. It's not like he knew any other little kids, and the only people he knows is the few Avengers that like him. He quickly resorted to Wanda whom at least had a birthday party in this century. She didn't even know he had a child. No one really did. Her response was, "Just make it simple. Get some people she enjoys like Steve and Sam and get a couple of cupcakes and a candle. Don't forget a present, that probably the most exciting part of a birthday is to open a present." She was calm about her answer as she wrote something on a piece of paper. The paper had a list of things needed for a birthday with the word 'present' capitalized.

When he picked up Nicola from Steve's she mumbled along about her day in the back of the car. When things got quiet he said to her, "A little princess's birthday is coming up soon, does the princess want to tell me what she wants for her birthday?" Nicola practically bounced in her seat at the mention of it. "Can I have a tattoo like you, papa?" He looked at her in the rear view mirror confused. "I don't have a tattoo Nicola." She giggled at him. "Yes you do silly! You have a tattoo of a star on your arm." His breathe hitched at the mention of the star on his arm. He almost forgot about it. "Um, maybe not a tattoo. How about something else with a star." She mumbled a 'okay' and played with the new toy Steve got her.

Then her head pops up. "Am I having a party? Can I invite Grandma?" He smiled. Vanessa's mother always liked Bucky, he was nice and had the type of charm she never saw in a man now a days. Well, she didn't really know he was kind of a hundred years old but he first met her he said he was twenty eight for good measure. "Yeah, we can invite grandma." This conversation ended with the two later going to go buy blue and purple balloons with Green Party hats and a plastic tiara for the birthday queen.

The little girl begged for a birthday dress. So Bucky ended up in the same clothing place as he was a couple of months ago, and the women once again helped them buy her a dress that had dinosaurs all over them. This led to Nicola asking her is she would want to go to her party too. Bucky couldn't resist his daughters eyes to say no. And yes the dress inspired a dinosaur cake.

When the day came Steve and Jasmine entered at the same time, weirdly, to see Bucky hanging a happy birthday banner. His hair was done, curtsey from Nicola, with his hair pulled back into a bun and one of the green party hats atop of his head. Then soft foot steps started running down the hallway, once again, in green converse towards Steve. He knelt down as she impacted into his hug. "Do I look pretty Uncle Steve?" She asks twirling. "Beautiful Nicki." She stops twirling and looks at Jasmine. "Look I'm wearing the dress you helped me pick out!" The older girl chuckles  at her excitement with her. "I think you look stunning Nicola!" That made the little girl smile.

Bucky, who almost fell off the chair when the door bell rang, started taking out the pre-made store lasagna out of the oven. "Steve can you get that please?" Then entered her Grandma, who was very surprised that there was already people at the small party. Steve started to say "Hello ma'am." But was interrupted by Nicola screaming 'grandma' and almost quarterback tackling her out into the hallway. The door was about to close but then came Sam Wilson who caught the door last second. "Sammy!" She screamed run from a hug from her grandmother. At this moment Bucky realized he needs a bigger apartment.

Bucky never had more than two guest in his house before, and he didn't attended parties much. So after Natasha and Wanda showed up, and even more screams of excitement and Party hats were being handed out until they finally sat down and ate Bucky's spontaneous Walmart lasagna. "Didn't known you could cook Barnes." Natasha, or 'tasha Nicola would've called her, said. He gives off a smile,"I try." And gives off a role of the eye. "I haven't seen you in so long James. Your hair got longer." Said his ex-mother in law. "Yeah, I haven't really thought about cutting it. I just forget it's there sometimes." There wasn't much silence after that because Nicola said,"Don't cut it papa! I like braiding it." Which led to an aw from the grandma, and a snarky comment Sam was trying to hold back.

"I ate my food, can we do presents now?" He chuckled at the little girl. "How about cake, then presents." He stated, standing up and taking the dinosaur cake off the table with the number five candle already implanted in it. When she heard them all sing, she became memorized by the little flick of fire on the candle, with it reflecting her eyes making them brighter. When she blew it out some claps were made and a question of 'presents?' came to mind. "Go head." He smiled. She automatically opened the big one, which was a bike by Sam. She got bows from Natasha, Jasmine got her multi-colored head bands, Steve and Wanda both got her coloring books, her grandma gave her twenty bucks and a card. But the very last one was hidden in Bucky's pocket. "One last present Nicola." Her eyes lit up at the mention of another. He pulled out a box wrapped in blue wrapping paper. She automatically tore it open and when she opened it she got really happy.

In the box was a necklace in the shape of dog tags. Engraved in it was a star along with 'Sergeant J.Barnes' on the other side. She ran into his arms. "Thank you papa." Nicola said quietly. The sound of a click went off making the hug disappear and seeing Steve smirking. "What it was a cute moment."
