Now I’m not in danger or even seriously ill,

But the other day we were talking about making a will,

When it hit me: our fleeting mortality,

Is a slap-in-the-face reality.

Got me thinking about all the things I want to do,

All the experiences out there, fresh and new,

People to meet, places to see,

Things still to interest and excite me.

I want to sail in a hot air balloon,

Splash in all the world’s blue lagoons,

I want to see every amazing landmark,

Want to sleep under the twinkling stars after dark.

Hell, I want to swim with dolphins,

Live life on the edge, commit a few sins,

I want to gaze at the Northern Lights,

And immerse myself in the world’s cultural delights.

I’ve never had a formal bucket list,

But love, laugh, grow, you get the jist,

So briefly do we dance under life’s sun,

So let go, have some fun.
