He Comforts You After A Terrible Day At Work

Y/n's pov

The monotonous clacking sound of me typing on my computer keyboard echoed around my empty office cabin followed by an occasional click of the mouse.

My eyes have been staring at the bright monitor in front of me for good three hours with minimum amounts of breaks in between. Although, this may classify as unhealthy and dangerous to one's eye sight, it works entirely differently for me I guess, as I would spend countless hours in my cabin, pushing myself to go beyond my maximum to complete all the tasks that have been assigned to me and to also make sure that I pour my very best to each and every one of them.

I won't go to the extent of considering myself as a workaholic, more like ambitious and driven to complete what's expected of me. If I don't, well, it wouldn't make me feel that hot, plus I would get anxiety attacks and the feeling of having let someone down is the worst feeling imaginable for me.

Suddenly, the door flew open, causing my eyes to finally flicker away from the monitor and in glided my co-worker, Mia who also happened to be my very best friend.

"Hey y/n, my girl," she cheerfully greeted me as she took a seat next to me.

"Hiii, Mia! What brings you here?" I said with a weary smile as the exhaustion of working without a break started to sink into me.

"Oh well, I noticed that you've been here for a while." She said as she started to check out my work.

I yawned in response, leaning back in my chair, too tired to say anything.

After skimming her eyes across my monitor, Mia spoke up, "Whoa. Is this the project that you've been working on for the upcoming presentation for Company Moon?"

"Sure is," I said.

"Wowww. Lemme just say, that it looks awesome!" Mia exclaimed with a huge grin.

I smiled at her compliment. "You really think so? I'm 99% done with it. Just need to add the final bits of information and it's ready to be handed over. I added some additional work of my own. I just feel that it would have more chances of winning over Moon's contract."

"WAIT really? Those additional parts in the presentation are all your ideas? No wonder it looked so amazing!" she squealed. "Manager Hyun-Woo made the right decision in choosing you as the maker of this presentation," Mia said with a warm expression. "You always have at least a 100 things to offer in extra."

She placed her hand on my shoulder as she gazed into my eyes. "You're gonna be the one who's gonna bring us the contract, Y/N. I know it!"

Her confidence in me made me blush and before I could thank her, there was a knock at the door and Sung-Ho, Manger Hyun-Woo's personal assistant stepped in.

"Miss Y/N, Manager Hyun-Woo would like to see your presentation for the Company Moon now," he said with an emotionless voice like he always does.

"Oh er- yeah. I'll be there," I said before he walked away. As soon as he left, I took of at lightning speed. I quickly added in all my last final touches to the presentation before finishing it with a satisfied smile. Then I turned to Mia.

"Sorry, Mia. I gotta go now,"

Mia nodded with an encouraging smile. "Of course, you go girl! Good luck!" She gave me the thumbs up sign as I picked up my laptop and shimmied away from my cabin and towards the Manager's office.

I tried to keep my breathing steady as I walked down the hallway.

The judgement day for all my hardwork of 3 weeks is here.

✧.*✧.*✧.*✧.*✧.*✧.*✧.*✧.*✧.*

"WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK IS THIS?!"

Manager Hyun-Woo literally exploded at me. His voice reverberated the office walls and made my heart clench with fear and my throat to momentarily clog up.

He had just scrolled through my presentation for a mere few minutes and this was not the reaction I was hoping for, for the product of the hard work that costed me 3 weeks' proper sleep and rest.

"D-do you not like it, sir?" I stuttered out while pushing myself as far back as I can go in my seat, in lame hopes of escaping the wrath of the red faced, infuriated man infront of me, who was glaring at the screen of my laptop with his head on his palm as if I had committed a serious offense against him. Had I?

"Like it? Are you kidding me?" he shouted making my body quake underneath his cold glare. "You only had one job, and this is what you end up doing?!'

My heart was hammering against my chest. What's wrong? I invested lots of energy and time into that presentation and I made sure that everything is perfect.

"I.. I don't understand, sir. I did as you requested from me." I said with a shaking and nearly inaudible voice while fighting the urge to cry right infront of him.

"WHAT I REQUESTED FROM YOU?" he snapped. "I GAVE YOU SPECIFIC GUIDELINES TO FOLLOW AND YOU HAVE GONE AND ADDED ALL SORTS OF GARBAGE TO THE PRESENTATION! HOW IS THAT 'DOING WHAT YOU REQUESTED FROM ME'?"

Despite the waves of panic and anxiety I was going through, I tried my best to compose myself. I have to handle this like a mature adult. I drew in a shaky breath as I stated, 'With all due respect sir, I can assure you that all the additional information I have inserted are purely based on facts and upon detailed analysis with the expectation of impressing Company Moon."

"WHO ASKED YOU TO WORRY ABOUT IMPRESSING COMPANY MOON? HUH?," he lashed out. "YOU SHOULD DO WHAT I TELL YOU TO DO AND THAT'S IT!"

My vision was starting to get blurry and I felt as if someone was pulling my heart from the inside to the depths of darkness. "Surely the employees are welcome to be innovative and add more to their work. Those kind of things are supposed to be appreciated," I said with a quivering voice.

"If you want, I could remove that additional information from the presentation, sir,"

"YOU WOULD DO NO SUCH THING!" he berated with his terrifyingly loud voice almost making me want to run away. "In fact. Take this worthless piece of garbage and dispose of it immediately,"

At this remark, it just felt to me as if someone had slapped me right across my face.

"Dispose of it?" I asked disbelievingly,

"You heard me," he grumbled.

"N-noo...please," I pleaded as tears started streaming down my face. "Sir, you don't understand! I put so much effort into this and I sacrificed a lot, if you hate my additional informations, I can take it down, but please, please accept my presentation,"

Manager Hyun-Woo simply got up, showing no signs of any acknowledgment of my pleas. He strode over to the door and gave my tear streaked face a cold glare as he said, "I never go back on my words. Good day, Miss Y/N. " And then he was gone. Leaving me, staring at the door he closed on his way.

It was around 10pm. As I waited outside for a taxi, I couldn't help but notice how the atmosphere mirrored the exact emotions I was going through.

It was pitch black with just the flash of the streetlights. It was dark as the depths of the empty void of hopelessness that I was going through. The sky was heavy with the brooding grey black clouds which resembled my sulky expression. The chill in the air that signaled the coming of rain was just like how my hard work and dedication was treated: all coldly disregarded. Not to mention the heaviness of the clouds strongly matched with the heartbreak, sorrow and the decrement in my self-worth. Angry words were thrown at me. I came out as a disappointment. Incapable of doing anything right. I was just a girl who gave her everything but got nothing in return. Even a little appreciation was too much to ask.

And alas! The clouds which had thousands of droplets of water trapped inside them, couldn't take it anymore and let go and it began to rain heavily and my own heart which had been growing heavier by the minute with all the negative emotions bottled up inside which were pressurizing and beating me up with every second, poured out from my eyes in the form of desperate tears, as I too, like the clouds reached my breaking point.

The taxi arrived a few minutes later and I got in and had to endure the most anguishing ride of my life as the cruel voices in my head tormented me tremendously by classifying me as someone useless.

Within minutes that felt like centuries however, I was finally at the door to my apartment that my boyfriend Jin and I shared.

As soon as I had stepped inside, I heard the footsteps of someone coming down the stairs and I recognized those paces instantly.

"Y/n, you're home," Jin cheered as he welcomed me.

"Oh. Hi Jin. I'm sorry I'm late. I had a lot going on at work," I managed to croak out while frantically wiping my eyes to shield my emotional state from him. However, it's foolish to even think that its possible to hide anything from Jin, as I instantly noticed how his cheerful smile transformed into a concerned frown, the moment his gaze fell on my face.

He reached out and gently cupped my face within his hands, his soft worried eyes gazing into mine. "Baby, you don't look ok. What's wrong?" he asked me in a soft tone which was a huge contrast to the manager's terrifying voice that was echoing in my head.

I had my gaze down. "Its nothing," I mumbled and was going to brush past him when he stopped me on my tracks by pulling on my wrist.

"No," he merely stated. He pulled me towards him. He tentatively put his fingers underneath my chin as he gently lifted my gaze up to meet his crescent eyes. He again cupped my face as he said affectionately, "Baby please. I love you and when you're like this, you're scaring me. Please tell me what's wrong. Don't you trust me, love?" he said, his eyes pleading me like those of a lost puppy.

I couldn't take any more of the stress as I broke down infront of Jin. Hot tears streamed down my face uncontrollably, my whole body racked with loud sobs and I couldn't fight that horrible sinking feeling in my chest.

"Oh no! Baby!" Jin cried as he witnessed my emotional battle. I was still sobbing with every breath I drew, but suddenly I felt myself being pulled forward and my wet cheeks came in contact with the warmth of soft wool as I realized that Jin had me pressed tightly against his chest, with my face buried in his wooly jumper, the warmth and affection wafting from his aura embracing me. He had his arms wrapped tightly around me, cuddling me close as his chin rested on top of my head.

"Its ok...Its ok, love. I'm here," he tenderly comforted me while rubbing circles on my back. This act of affection made my sobs die down a little, nevertheless , occasional hiccups escaped my lips. I continued to keep my head buried in his chest.

While having me trapped in his embrace, Jin slowly guided himself and I towards the couch and sat me down and he sat down right beside me, still holding me close.

He held me like that for a couple of minutes, all the while stroking my hair and planting kisses on my head as he whispered words of affection to me.

When I felt that I was ready, in between sobs, I told him of all the tragedies that happened to me at work. The whole time he listened patiently and silently, absorbing all my laments. When I finished my tirade, he let out a long and downhearted sigh as he brushed my cheek with his thumb, "I'm so sorry you went through all that, love. But trust me. Everything is going to be alright. I know I might sound cliché saying stuff like that but I know that there is a reward for each and every hard work you put. You haven't gotten it yet, but you will. So for now, please forget everything about your dumb boss. You didn't do anything wrong. Tomorrow is a brand new day with new promises." With that he kissed me on the cheek.

Aww! He is the sweetest. And his comforting words cheered me up a little. It made me feel less guilty knowing that I haven't done anything wrong. Maybe the manager was having a bad day. He might be ok tomorrow.

Jin smiled as he gazed at me. "Now, can I see a smile? "

Aish, come on! I blushed as I gave him a little smile.

"Bigger please," he requested.

Aish! I gave him a huge grin as far as the corners of my lips could go.

Jin chuckled. "Yeahhh. Better. Now go upstairs and take a shower. Relax yourself."

I nodded as I got up to go upstairs to the bathroom.

Changed into my bathrobe, I flung open the door to the bathroom and the sight made me pleasantly shocked.

It was beautiful! An entire steaming hot water bath was all set up and the bath was sprinkled with cherry red rose petals floating mellifluously on the crystal clear water and it was bordered with a line of candles illuminating a soft orange glow. The candles seemed to be scented as the sweet and tranquil smell that drifted from them calmed my uneasy state.

Did Jin set this up for me? How thoughtful of him. And how much effort has he put?

With him in my mind, I lowered myself into the pleasant warm waters as its ripples cascaded along my skin, together with the atmosphere of candles and the sweet scent making my head a lot less heavy.

I got out from the bath after soaking in it. I enjoyed it very much. It was the most relaxing thing I have ever experienced. Perfect on a rainy day.

I was in mine and Jin's bedroom, again dressed in my bathrobe while drying my long, wet hair with a towel.

I made my way to our bed and found a pink gift bag tied up with a pink ribbon sitting on top of the covers.

Ooo what's this?

I opened it and I fished out ...a lovely pink dress! It was knee length with butterfly sleeves with the bodice made from sparkling pink glitter dust along with a skirt made from a lighter shade of pink which also looked like it was made from a net material. (You are free to imagine your favorite dress)

"How gorgeous!" I squealed as I twirled around while clutching the dress to my chest. Without wasting any time, I quickly changed out of my bathrobe and into this beauty.

As I admired myself in the mirror, I had to admit that I looked stunning. The colors really seemed to bring out the best of me and I loved how the skirt swished around my legs with every move I made.

"Wow, don't I look striking?" I gushed while checking myself out.

"I'll say,"

Wait, what? I swished my head in the direction of the voice.

And what I saw, left me shocked. IT WAS A LEGIT PRINCE! Gazing at me with a light smile playing on his lips.

It took me a full 5 seconds to realize that this prince was my Jin! He was dressed like a prince charming from a fairytale.

"Jin?" I gasped out unable to take my eyes off of this beauty as he gracefully glided over to me.

He stands directly in front of me, towering over me, with a face decorated with eyes glistening like stars hovering over mine.

"I-um-you-wow look at you," I stuttered out followed by a nervous laugh unable to keep myself from blushing.

Jin chuckled, "Ha, you like it? I hope you do. Because I really think I look good," He really does. I thought to myself as he burst into a flow of more chuckles.

"I remembered how you once said that fairytales with a prince and princess in love always helps to make you feel cheerful when you're having a bad day, so I thought why not make your fantasy a reality?"

Omg! He remembers! It has been a long time since I shared this piece of information with him! He remembers every single detail about me. I was touched.

"And I have to say," he said his voice now dipping into a deep, rich, whispery tone. "You look prettier than me."

Oh my gosh, he is just the sweetest.

"You should eat something, you know," he said and only then I noticed that he was holding a covered dish on his palm. How did I not notice that this entire time? Oh yeah, must be because my eyes thought that there was nothing else worth looking at in this world except for Jin, the moment he stepped into the room.

His pleasantly warm free hand gently enclosed my own and guided me towards the balcony at the fore of our room.

We stepped outside to a dark sky kissed with a thousand stars. The rain had died down and what was left in its place was a cool but playful breeze in the air and the exotic smell after a fresh rain shower.

I gazed down to the dazzling city below, glittering with the brightest lights with only the faint horns of vehicles to be heard.

I allowed myself to inhale the soothingly cool air and experience the luxury of the waves of tranquility rippling down my body making me forget every horrible thing that happened to me and just focus on the lovely present and of course, on my loving boyfriend.

Jin handed me the dish he was carrying and unveiled it to reveal a slice of a small pink cake with a cherry on top.

"This cake is something small and sweet which I hope would cheer you up just like how you cheer me up with your sweetness every day." He delivered perhaps the sweetest line I have heard yet from him in an equally sweet tone.

"Oh, Jin, this is honestly really sweet. Thank you," I said after I had graciously accepted the treat. I let my teeth sink into the texture that was as fluffy as a cloud and let my tongue be teased with the sweet sensation.

"I really appreciate everything that you have done today," I said after a few bites. "The relaxing bath, the dress, going so far as to dress yourself up, the cake, everything. This is just so nice and I'm really lucky to have someone like you in my life."

I watched as Jin visibly blushed which I found adorable. "Ah, it's nothing to thank me for, bae. I just hated seeing you sad and beaten down so I just wanted to do everything in my power to restore your smile and energy. When you were getting late than usual to come home, I instantly figured that you must be working late on a project and you would be coming home exhausted given the workaholic you are,"

I couldn't help but let out a giggle as I found his reasons endearing, plus, the term he used to describe my attitude towards work. I have to admit it, now. He is right to some extent.

Swimming in a flood of passionate emotions, I put the cake down and threw my arms over his shoulder and gently kissed his warm lips with mine. He responded by snaking his arms around my waist and pulling me in closer to him, gliding his moist but soft lips over mine, slowly sucking on my lower lips and bated breaths syncing with each other. We pull apart after a few minutes and I could feel the romance lingering in the atmosphere around.

"Mm, you lips taste really sweet," he said playfully.

"Well, yours are even sweeter..." My sudden mischievousness presented itself in the form of a smirk on my visage as I said, "...but not sweet enough," before I swiped my fingers over the icing on the cake and snared It over Jin's plump lips.

"What the- HEY!" Jin furiously spluttered out almost comically making me burst into a fit of uncontrollable giggles.

He wiped his mouth before shooting me a glare followed by a pout which I found endearing, "You'll pay for messing with a face as handsome as this,". I squealed and dashed inside the room as he chased after me.

We both were an unusual version of Tom and Jerry, as we laughed and ran circles around the bed before he finally caught me in his arms and pinned me down onto the soft duvets of our bed.

We both were panting and laughing breathlessly till the position that we were in made us suddenly get lost in each other's eyes.

Shining crescents gazing down to meet (dark/light) orbs.

He cupped my face with one hand and kissed me lovingly on my forehead. I relished the warmth of his mellow lips.

"I missed your laugh," he whispered.

"I missed this,"

We made ourselves comfortable on the bed before turning the bed side lamp off embracing us in a tranquilizing darkness. I scooted over to my love and he guided my head to rest on top of his firm and protective chest.

"Sleep now, love," I heard his whispers. "Hard work will pay off. All you need is a little help. I love you, (Y/N),"

Sleep was consuming me so I didn't have time to ponder the meaning behind his words so I whispered an "I love you, Jin," back before succumbing to a night of slumber.

THE NEXT DAY

I stepped inside the massive and luxurious office of company Moon and I find myself standing in the presence of a well-dressed man at his desk with his laptop open: Mr. Moon, the CEO of the company.

I was hustled here early in the morning by my co-workers and I still have no idea what's going on.

"Ahh, Miss (Y/N). Please do take a seat," he said gesturing to the chairs in front of him.

I obeyed.

"Are you the creator of this?" he inquired before sliding the laptop around to face me.

On the screen, I saw a soft copy of the same presentation which was berated cruelly last night.

"Yes, sir," I replied though I initially wanted to question him on how he got his hands on it but I resisted because answering a question with a question wouldn't be the politest first impression of me.

"I have to say that this is indeed a very impressive masterpiece," he finally said beaming to my utmost surprise making my eyes instantly widen.

"Sir?" I stammered out.

"Well done!" he commended. "This work was sent to me anonymously and it was stated that you are the individual who made it on behalf of sealing the contract between my company and company Seine's contract."

Who could have sent it? I was in soaring spirits but also lost in the woods of confusion.

Mr. Moon brought his fingers to a steeple beneath his chin before his beaming gaze fixated to a serious one on me. "It was also brought into my attention through this same anonymous person that your work was unfairly disregarded at your company. Is that information true?" he asked.

Is he talking about manager Hyun-Woo? Should I tell him or be loyal to my company?

No, I was treated unjustly. I should be honest about this when I'm questioned. Plus, this is Mr. Moon we are talking about. I bet he could fish out liars in a heartbeat.

"Actually sir," I started hesitantly after taking in a deep breath. "My manager, Mr.Hyun-Woo, disliked it because I added some of my own touches to the project," I truthfully stated.

"Really?" the CEO said in shock. "He criticized these highly commendable inputs because of his ego? The nerve!"

I bit my lip debating whether I had done the right thing. Ah, who am I kidding? I might as well start thinking of sending out a CV to that taco shop I saw, right now itself.

"Miss (Y/N) ," Mr. Moon spoke up breaking my chain of agitated thoughts. "I am really impressed by you. and I do not think that it is right for a woman with such potential to be restricted by brutal employers. Therefore, if you would like, that is, you are most welcomed to be the head of our Project team. You would be a valuable addition to this establishment,"

OH MY GOD! Did I mishear him? Work for THE company Moon as a head? What the- how could I say no?!

"I would be extremely honored, sir," I cried out with a mile-wide smile.

"Welcome to company Moon, Miss (y/n)," he beamed as he shook my hand.

As I exited the building, my phone suddenly dinged in my purse. I unlocked the screen to find a text message from Jin.

"Congratulations, Project Head (Y/N)," it read.

And suddenly the anonymous person and the words Jin whispered were to me last night right before I fell to sleep instantly clicked together in my mind like two puzzle pieces.
