dear people who think kpop is weird:

listEN HERE AND LISTEN GOOD.

liking kpop is. not. weird.

it may not be your cup of tea or whatever the fuck you're drinking that blinds you from the beauty that is kpop, and that's fine and dandy and whatnot, but that dOES NOT GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO BE A DICK.

just because it may be different from western styles of pop or european genres of music in general, many people don't see the big deal about kpop. well, if they bothered to listen to any kpop fan out there and not judge it before they even have a chance to appreciate it, they would know what the big deal is.

kpop isn't the bubblegum pop and crazy makeup that westerners perceive it to be. kpop IS a unique piece of culture appreciated by people all over the world, a cool way artists can express themselves and be understood despite language barriers. kpop isn't "ching chong ching chong" (@ you racists out there). it IS songs with meaning and depth that bring happiness and hope to millions of people all over the world. liking kpop as someone who isn't from korea ISN'T cultural appropriation. liking kpop as someone who isn't from korea IS a way for people to become educated about different parts of the world; rather cultural appreciation.

long story short, LIKING KPOP ISN'T BAD. people have such a tendency to think negatively towards things that are new or different to them. when fans of kpop experience this ignorance firsthand, we are not "forcing" you to like kpop, but we are strongly encouraging you to give it a try. if you try it and decide AFTER YOU LISTEN that it's not your thing, that's completely fine. but if you are going to sit there and judge kpop and the people to listen to it without even giving it a fair chance, that's really fucking rude and hypocritical and you should get over the stereotypes and typical cliches about what's "normal" and what's not.

and to the people who decide to bully kpop fans, get over those stereotypes and cliches, but, more importantly, get over yourselves. i may not particularly enjoy country music, but do i run around calling people rednecks and hicks? nO. i may not enjoy a lot of justin bieber's music, but do i go on justin bieber's fanpages and comment hateful things? fuck nO. i may not enjoy heavy metal, but do i make fun of people for being "emo?" FUCKING NO.

opinions are universal, and you can think whatever you want, but fOR FUCKS SAKES, please do not hurt people's feelings just because their opinion is different from yours.

lol i feel like i never post actual recommendations on this book but so many things happen that piss me off in the fandom that i just need to recommend that ignorant people shUT THE FUCK UP OHMANHOLYSHIT.
