1: JUNGKOOK

WONDERLAND by holdontilltae

number of reads at the time i'm writing this:

8k

content summary (no spoilers, don't panic!):

it has a very dark sort of connotation throughout most of the book. touches on pretty intense topics such as death, depression, domestic abuse, illness, bullying, grief, self-harm and anxiety. veeery sad, veeeeeeeeery deep. angsty, in the best way possible. also, smut. wink wonk.

writing style:

SO. FREAKIN. PRETTY. tons of meaningful comparisons. it is obvious the author planned everything out to the degree and did their research. vocabulary is insane. did very well including romanization, was never cringy with it. strategically placed details that tied everything together just wow.

my thoughts on the plot:

incredibly smart and almost painfully realistic. didn't sugar coat the things that are difficult to write/read/talk about, which is super hard to do. i feel like this author set out to make people feel something through the events in this story and hot dang did they succeed.

playlist?

yes and it fit sO well

tear jerking?

i cried four times.

completed?

yeah

my overall thoughts:

beautiful. this story was in no way cliche or overdone, and it makes me think about my life, which i value in books. normally, i can't stop reading books like this, but with this one i had to, solely because it was a lot to think about, and a lot of the things it made me think about were not your average sunshine and rainbows. with each turn the story took, i never expected what would happen, and it is ultimately just an amazing piece of writing.

things i wish i could tell the author ( holdontilltae ) in person:

man, do i wish i could shake your hand right now oh my lord. it's a common misconception that fanfiction is meaningless, thoughtless paragraphs written by thirteen year olds about harry styles or cameron dallas. if someone were ever to tell me that, that fanfiction can't have substance, i would respond by shoving this book in their face. because honestly wow. you made me think about a lot of things that are difficult to think about. you made me cry a lot. you made me have an emotional connection to the characters, even nana, even though we don't see her much. i can tell you put thought and effort into the tiniest of details, even the color of alice's hair, and the character development with her and jungkook is astounding. I LOVE THIS STORY AND YOU. TEACH ME YOUR WAYS.

would i recommend?

11/10 screamo-song-singing jungkooks. in other words, hELL YEAH.
