Distance - Hoseok (Fluff/Comfort)

Rating: T (language)

Being in a long distance relationship wasn't easy.

You pouted as the screen lagged. So much for your Skype date. You and Jung Hoseok had been in a relationship for two years now, but conveniently, he was a member of BTS. The world's best boy band (you may be a little biased though). He was always out and about touring the world, rapping and dancing his way into the spotlight. Of course, you supported your little bean. He was your sunshine, your everything. But damn you missed him.

There was a beep on your phone, so you quickly checked it. Hoseok, he was asking why the screen kept going black. You replied with an 'idk' before returning to your laptop. You had tried everything. Disconnecting and reconnecting your internet, restarting your laptop, going on phone: nothing seemed to work. It appeared as though the universe was just against you seeing your legendary boyfriend today.

Your pout only increased. You didn't get to see him that much anyway, what the hell? Why couldn't you have a cute, short Skype date with your boyfriend? With a groan, you trotted over to your bed, lying down with your phone still in your hand. After everything, you wanted to cry. Work had been stressful, your friends were mad at you for talking about Hoseok all the time, your family hadn't talked to you in a while, and now this? You couldn't even facetime your man?

Your phone rang, making you huff. Great, was your mom trying to call you out of no where? You peeped down at your phone, and all your anger dissipated. Hobi. He was calling you. With a small smile, you picked up the phone, letting your eyes stare at the ceiling while you brought the device to your ear. "Sunshine!" you said, unable to mask the giddiness in your tone.

"Hey hon! I guess Skype isn't working, huh?" his sweet voice replied.

You let out what you thought sounded like a grunt. "The world doesn't like us today."

He softly chuckled, making your heart do a small flip. Yeah, even after two years he made your heart beat faster than a high schooler around her celebrity crush. "That's okay, the world doesn't matter when I have you."

"That was so cheesy, I almost threw up."

"Babe!" Hoseok's alarmed tone had you laughing, but you desired to see his face. Or anything about him, really. You adored him with all your heart, and having to go so long without him had your mind fuzzing with fury.

Both of you fell quiet for a few moments, your thoughts lingering in the air. Without even being able to see him, you knew his mind was on the same thing yours was. "When will I see you again?" you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.

"I don't know, to be honest. I'm hoping soon." Another beat of silence. "I really miss you."

"I really miss you too," you replied, leaning back on your pillows and holding a hand on your head. You considered your next words, your tongue toying with them before you opened your mouth to speak. "I love you, Hobi. Please stay safe out there. I know you love people, and love the world, but please don't trust someone too much and get hurt."

"Hey, I'm starting to think you don't want me to ever leave my house again."

You snickered, rubbing the phone with your fingers. "Oh no, never again, Hobi. You're only allowed to be with me, forever and ever. You'll be locked in my basement until the end of time."

Hoseok stalled for a moment, you raising a brow despite him not being able to see you. "Well shit. That's kinky as fu-"

"Hobi!"

The man laughed, the vibrant melody tugging on your heartstrings. You resisted the urge to sigh like one of those Disney princesses and break out into song about how much you loved Hoseok. Regardless, you kept your grin, but you could tell there was something he wasn't telling you. You didn't need to see him to hear the hesitation he was shoving into his tone, his voice nearly cracking over every letter. And that was when it really dawned upon you.

"Hobi?" you asked, receiving no answer. "Are you crying?"

"Would you judge me if I said yes?"

"Now why would I ever judge you?" At his refusal to answer, your eyebrows knit together. "You know I'd never judge you for showing emotion, right? Tell me you know that."

"Of course I do, I love our relationship because of that. I just..." He broke off, a sniffle hitting your eardrums. It made your body split in two, your skin transforming to glass instead of flesh, and your blood freezing. "I miss you."

The words almost broke you, but you regained your composure in seconds. He needed you to be strong, and breaking down with him wouldn't work. "I miss you too, but hey, we're talking now, aren't we?"

"But I miss your touch. The way your eyes crinkle when you laugh, the stupid smiles you give me when I do something dumb. I miss that. I don't just miss you, I miss all of you, everything. From the way you dress to the way you make me feel special. There's nothing I want more than to see you in front of me again, so I can hug you and call you mine."

His confession had your brain spiraling out of control, your hands shaking, your grip on the phone loosening. "Hobi... what if I can find a way to come to you?"

"As much as I'd love that, your work is just as important as mine."

"Sure, but that doesn't mean I can't take a Friday off and have a long weekend to come visit you. What do you say? I'll come over and we can hang out for a while." There was no answer for a few moments, your shoulders slumping. "It's not a good idea, is it?"

"I'll be so busy, even if you do come. It'll be hard to get any alone time until we're sleeping."

"Dammit," you mumbled, running a hand through your hair. His sniffs were the only sounds coming out of his side of the conversation, you unsure of where to go from there. "Hobi, I promise we'll see each other soon, okay? Whether I'm with you physically or not, you know I'll always love you, right?"

"I know. I love you too."

You grinned, praying there was a way he could see it. "And whether we have crappy dates on a phone call, or a physical date at a fancy restaurant, we'll make it work. Do you trust me?"

"More than anything."

"Then trust that it'll be okay. No matter what, we'll make it work. We always do, don't we?" You could hear him smile, and that made you laugh. "You know what we can do?"

"What?" he asked, his sweet tone dancing by your ears.

"We can watch movies all day. Maybe some Netflix?"

"Y/n, be honest, how much Netflix are we going to 'watch'?"

You burst out laughing, him doing the same. It took you a full ten seconds to calm yourself, and when you did, your smile wouldn't leave. "A woman never tells," you said, Hobi snickering on the other side of the line. "I'm so glad we're together, and I'm so glad we'll see each other soon."

"Are you sure we will, babe?"

"I'm sure. And Hobi?"

"What is it, love?"

"I have a feeling we'll pull through. Together."

"You're perfect to me," he said, his voice a murmur. "And I know that we'll pull through. Thank you for tonight, I'm glad we got to talk. I know this may be cheesy, but I'm so glad we met."

You let out a quick breath, relishing in the moment. "It's not cheesy. You want to know why?" He made a small 'hm?' noise, and it caused butterflies to swarm in your stomach. Alright, maybe you were the cheesy one here, not him. Despite that, your body bubbled with hope, and you opened your mouth to speak. "Because I'm glad we met too..."
