A shrill but familiar noise jolts you awake. Groaning slightly, you slowly sit up in your bed, trying to rub the sleep from your eyes. Yawning, your head falls down to your chest, nodding off to sleep again.

"I'm up!" you shout out to no one as your body had fallen off the bed. You sigh, getting up from the floor to check the time on your phone, one that did not belong to you whatsoever. It was 3 in the morning, giving you exactly 4 hours to cook food for the children for the whole day. Stretching your arms up, a few joints popping, you head to your bathroom to get yourself ready. After changing and taking a shower along with brushing your teeth, you head downstairs to the kitchen to fix the children's meals today. Being able to do this every day for the last 4 years, you had accustomed yourself to remember all dietary needs and to be able to cook multitudes of different meals, all paid with the money you owned from working. You heard footsteps behind you, knowing it was Suzy, the orphanage owner. She was a sweet lady who was in her early thirties. Light brown hair, curled and cut up to her shoulders with a slim figure. Her sweet blue eyes had crinkles around them from all the smiling, lips that never turned into a frown and had quite a small nose. She always helped you with the preparations every morning.

Suzy was the one who helped you recover that night you collapsed. She had opened the door when she had heard a noise go off in the night, shocked to see you drenched in the heavy rain and unconscious. She instantly carried you in as you barely weighed much. She changed your clothing and treated all your cuts and heavy wounds. Giving you a bath and preparing a meal for you, she was like the mother you never had. And she was. She had cared for you non stop from that day. Especially when you had your traumatic fits when you saw broken glass or woke up from reliving a memory, especially the first year since you lived in the orphanage. Suzy loved you as much as she loved the children she cared for in the orphanage. She was worried about you. You had kept to yourself, never talked to any of the children or her, even now. All she knew was that you would clean the house, cook for the children, go to school, work after school hours and come back to repeat this over again. You wore the same clothes over, washing them the night before and drying them. You never bought anything for yourself, besides the few pairs of clothing you had, but bought little gifts for the children. Suzy knew you changed drastically, with cutting your hair, dyeing it and not eating properly. She would always wonder why you would do this to yourself. You had even rejected the multitudes of adoption offers. Going as far as Suzy needing to drug you as you would have terrible traumatic fits from any physical contact with the couples that wanted to adopt you. Suzy, though loved you, she wanted for you to be happy in this life, not to be punishing yourself for what had happened in your past. She knew you felt like a burden to people, but you weren't. And she wanted you to realise that.

"So is it confirmed?"

"Yes, it is. You can come over later today."

Closing the door behind you, you started to walk out to work, seeing as it was the weekend. Listening to music and drinking a big cup of coffee, you walk down the street, sleep clawing at you. Shaking your head and sighing, you cross the road to work. You hum the song playing from your headphones, not noticing a figure leaning against the cafe doors. Jin sees you from across the road, cursing himself for being up this early just for you. He wasn't sure what time you might be here, a feeling inkling in his stomach just to see you. Been waiting here for almost an hour, he hears your voice humming. He was shocked to hear you sing, let alone hum. It was soothing to him, almost calming. Waiting for you, he closed his eyes and just listened, unconsciously smiling.

"Never knew you would be up this early." you stop short, instantly recognising the voice. Honestly giving up, you open the store doors and head in to start the day. Finishing your coffee, you start to open blinds and cleaning tables as Jin watches amused. Jin notices you gripping your head sometimes or grasping on the table for balance. Has she been sleeping well? Jin walks up to you frowning. He was about to reach out to you but remember your panic attack at the shops last time he was with you. He carefully grabs the cloth and starts cleaning the tables for you. You glare at him, snatching the cloth back.

"Don't." you grit out that one word before heading to the back rooms to change. You come back out and see Jin sitting down at one of the tables. You groan, going to the door to flip over the sign so it says 'open'. You head over to Jin with your notepad and pen ready.

"What will it be sir?" you speak up, Jin jumping once more at your stealth.

"No one is here (d/n). Sit down." you contemplate this option. You sit down on the bench opposite of Jin, seeing as you had no other tasks to complete and that the shop was empty besides the two of you.

"What are you doing here?" Jin watches as you let out a shaky breath, eyes drooping and noticeable bags under your eyes. He was able to see this even though you wore your hoodie, a stray wisp of hair flowing from the rest of your hair that was tucked away. Jin's hands were itching just so he could tuck it behind your ear. It was quite a warm morning, the sun hitting your face. Unknowingly, you had pulled your sleeves up and Jin gasps. Dark scars ran down your arms to your wrist, most red being fresh and others healed over time but were left as dark never fading scars. Jin frowns more deeply at you, at how you could do this to yourself and why. You jolt from Jin gasping and look down at your arms.

"Shit!" you unroll your sleeves back and stand up abruptly.

"(d/n) wait-" the bell suddenly rings and you thank the customers that flowed into the shop that kept you busy for the rest of the day.

Jin had stayed in the shop the whole time, watching you work tirelessly. His mind worked overdrive, wondering what kind of life you had lived before he met you at school. He wanted to help, feeling guilty at the times he had annoyed you so much and pushed you over the edge. He just wanted to help you. The day had slowly come to an end, the last customer leaving. You were at the receptionist desk, the other workers had gone home already. You looked down at the table the whole time, feeling eyes burning holes in your head. Your heart beats in a frantic rhythm as you heard Jin's footsteps come closer to you. You quickly put the cloth away, and into the back rooms to change. You lean against the door, falling to the floor, breathing frantically. Shaking your head once more, you get up to change. Jin didn't realise you were changing, opening the door to talk to you but came face to face with your bareback. Jin stopped short, his breath hitching in his throat. Tears spring in his eyes when he noticed the multiple jagged scars on your back, each as painful as the last one. They were all deep, like large butchers knives was forcefully dragged down your back and ran all the way from the top of your back and past your pants. You had put your top on, still packing your bag.

"What did you go through?" Jin whispers, closing the door and waiting outside the shop for you. You came out, locking the door behind you and walked to the shops once more. You allowed Jin to follow with you, thinking that he might want you to do something for him to keep your secret.

You were walking home, Jin still following you even though you tried to get him to leave. You look down at his hands carrying most of the grocery bags. He had insisted and technically ran off with the bags until you had let him carry them.

"Go home."

"No."

"You stubborn narcissist. I don't need your help."

"No."

"What do you want from me!?" you practically shout out, your patience wearing thin. Jin smiles down at you and your eyes widen. Jin had never genuinely smiled at you, only smirked at you or winked on some occasions. But not a real smile. You look up to him, mouth agape as he kissed the top of your hoodie that covered your head. A slight cool breeze sweeps past, your hoodie falling back to reveal more of your face. Jin admires your features, even if they hide the real you. She's adorable.

"Nothing." you blink many times before snatching the bags from Jin's hand and running away. Jin smiles sadly, remembering your shocked face. "Cute." He chuckles to himself. Jin turns around, hands stuffed in his pockets as he walked home. The whole time he had thought about you. Appearing at his doorstep he furrows his eyes. "Why do I just want to hold her?" he shakes his head and enters the house to be greeted with silence. He noticed the living room light on and knew that his father was home but working.

"Jin." Jin's father calls out and Jin goes into the living room to notice papers strewn across the coffee table.

"Yes, father?"

"I want you to come with me to an orphanage." Jin raises a brow at this. "I've agreed to look after a child of some sorts." Jin frowns at this. Ever since he was born, his mother wasn't able to bear another child, further on in the future, dying from a cancerous disease. Jin thought that it wouldn't be right if the child grew up without a mother.

"This isn't right." Jin's father understood exactly what his son meant.

"I owe the owner for a favour a long while back. She wants me to look after this girl, trusting me cause she knows that you will be able to look after her especially."

"What?"

"The child is in your class. This child can't stay in the orphanage for long, she has rejected every couple. She's too old to be adopted now." Jin stands there confused more than ever. There was someone in his class that was an orphan? He frowns, trying to think who it might be. Jin's father stands up, paperwork in his briefcase. He walks out with Jin following close behind him.

You were cooking for the children once more, them all smiling and hugging you as you did so. You were grateful that these children were able to have a happy childhood, unlike yours. Placing the meals down, you go to clean up the kitchen. Suzy was in the living room, working and taking a few calls as some of the children were being adopted. After cleaning up, you go to the living room to take a small nap. Suzy smiles down at you, kissing your hoodie while she continued talking on the phone. Once you had fallen asleep, Suzy ended the call with Jin's father, letting him know to come to the orphanage. The doorbell rings and she quickly goes and opens it to find him and Jin standing by the doorway.

"Come in, but quietly, she's asleep in the living room." Suzy leads them to the living room and Jin's whole world comes crashing down around him. He saw you, on the couch, sleeping away and knew that it was you that his father was talking about. He never knew that you would be an orphan. Instantly, everything clicked. The work, the clothes, the hair and the name. He read your profile in the car, all written by Suzy with the information she was able to get out of you from the first few weeks you had lived in the orphanage. He even read the little notes you had written to Suzy, as you wouldn't speak. Your real name, your real story, the real you. Jin's father went with Suzy to finish the paperwork as Jin sat next to you. He watched you sadly at how hard it must have been for you. He watched as you curled into a ball, maybe from being cold. Placing his jacket on you, he slowly moved your hair away from your face, caressing your cheeks slightly.

"NO! PLEASE! STOP!" you had started shouting out in your sleep and Jin panicked knowing you were having a traumatic fit. You had started crying heavily, clawing at your arms making it bleed heavily. You start screaming out and Jin was trying to wake you up.

"(y/n)! Wake up!" Jin held you in his arms, desperately trying to wake you. You kept screaming in pain and fear and Jin didn't notice that he was crying until he saw the teardrops falling. He wanted to help you terribly but wasn't sure how. You started to move around a lot, kicking and punching until Suzy ran in. Her eyes are wide and she curses in her mind.

"Where's the syringe!?" Suzy calls out and one of the children brings in a small needle. "Hold down her arms!" Suzy shouts and Jin does so, your back against his chest as his hands wrapped around your body, trapping your arms at your sides. Suzy runs beside him and pulling up your sleeve to inject the serum from the syringe. Jin watches as you whimper out, tears cascading down. Your head tilted to the side, unconscious as Jin held you in his arms. Suzy sighs, looking over at the boy whose eyes were filled with worry. She smiles at him, patting his arm. "Please look after her."

Jin sits in his room, listening out for any noise that might break the deafening silence. It's been three days since you've been out cold and Jin had been looking after you since. Everyone at school was worried about him, along with his friends. But you had only mattered, you had only been in his mind. Sighing, he went downstairs to grab a glass of water when he heard screaming. He instantly knew it was you and put down the glass, running upstairs. You had woken up in a daze and in an unfamiliar room. Your mind fleeted to the many memories of being locked in a room with random men, grins on their faces and you had started screaming out. Seeing the sickening figure of your father in a glass mirror, punching it to a million shards. You started panicking when you saw the glass shards, remembering that day and going into hysteria. Tears flowing non stop as you broke things around your, wounds reopening or new ones being inflicted upon you. The door suddenly barged open and Jin saw you wrecking everything in sight and screaming in pain. Dodging all the broken shards. He picks you up, kicking and screaming and sits you down on the bed, the only safe place in the room. Jin held you to his chest, arms around your body, trapping your arms to your chest. You screamed in fright from the contact, trying to break away.

"(y/n), it's ok. I'm here. It's ok." Jin whispers out and as he holds your head to his chest. You heard his voice and started to calm down but continued to cry heavily. You looked up to see a blurry figure and whimpered from the hand brushing your tears away. You blinked multiple times before your vision returns and you realise that it was Jin.

"Jin!" You cry out, feeling his arms around you, your legs around his waist. Jin slowly lets you go and you hug him tightly, your head on his chest and your hands grasping the back of his shirt tightly. Jin slowly pets your hair, not caring that his shirt was being soaked but if you were ok. His heart breaks seeing the strong girl he always knew to break down like this. The constant fear you must have lived in, the pain your bore every day.

"You're safe (y/n). I'm here. Don't cry please." Jin cooed, kissing your head continuously, hugging you tightly. He places his head in the crook of your neck, whispering softly that you would be safe from now on. He hears you whimper out and slowly grasps your chin. Jin pushes your head so you were looking at him as he wiped away the tears. Jin grasped your cheeks as you calmed down, your heart still racing. Jin kisses your forehead and you tear up again.

"Why?" you whisper out.

"When I first saw you, I was instantly intrigued. I wanted to know everything about you. In the end, I started falling in love with you. You worked hard for the children so they could be happy. All at the expense of your own. You have lived in constant fear and pain and I want to be the one to make them disappear. I wanted to be the one to give you happiness." Jin whispers but you shake your head and close your eyes, head tilted down.

"I'm a murderer."

"No, you're not. This was all your father's fault treating you like that. It was self-defence and in the moment. He deserved it." You sniffled, Jin tilting your head up as he admired your real features. (h/c) hair and tear-stained (e/c) eyes. Jin wipes away a stray tear, sighing and caressing your cheek with his thumb. Your breath hitched as he continued to lean down closer to your lips. "I will protect you." he whispers as you give a slight nod, all the confirmation Jin needed to clash his lips with yours. Jin tilts his head, deepening the kiss as you kissed him back deeply. He parts your lips slowly with his, biting your bottom lip slowly before continuing to kiss you. Jin tangles a hand in your hair to keep you in place as he continues to kiss you deeply. His other hand was wrapped tightly around your waist, your arms around his neck and tangled in his silky brown locks. Jin parts, giving you a breather before diving to your lips again, pushing you back down slowly on the bed with him following with your body as he hovers over you. Jin starts to kiss you more passionately, his forehead leaning on yours. Jin slowly and hesitantly parts away before things could get heated. You open your eyes and smile up at him, Jin's heart frantically beating at your very first smile, all directed at him. You hug him tightly and Jin wraps his hands around you as if protecting you from the world.

"Thank you Jin." you whisper out.
