You stared at all the people chatting together in the mess hall. People grouped together laughing, smiling, gossiping. None looked your way. You blinked before making a beeline towards the balcony outside that lead to a large area of green land and trees. You weren't feeling hungry anyway. You sat down at a bench and turned around to see the people mingling about inside. Frowning, you saw people that were familiar to you. Your old friends. They were split. Both groups sent glares to each other and your heart broke. You never imagined that once you left, your strong bonded friends would split up to hate each other. You knew about the split ever since you entered uni in the first year. Maybe I should've stayed. Maybe they wouldn't be hating each other now. There were more familiar faces. People who had crushes on you, people who bullied you. People who hated you. People who loved you. The old you.
"What are you doing out here?" Jimin walked outside seeing you sit on the bench alone. He frowned when he saw you wearing your hat and sunglasses again. Why do you hide yourself? You didn't bother reply or look up at Jimin and he sighed, sitting next to you. Jimin placed a hand on your back, rubbing it. "Aren't you hungry?" Jimin watched as you just shrugged. He noticed you looking back at the people inside. What are you hiding behind those glasses? "Come on. Don't want you starving." Jimin flashed you his famous smile as you looked up at him, a small smile forming on your face. "Come on!" Jimin feels a sense of achievement seeing you smile and drags you on your feet.
"Jimin! No!" You laugh as Jimin walks around behind you and starts pushing you towards the door. You put your feet out to stop him but surprisingly, Jimin was stronger. You gave up and let Jimin lead you back inside, his arms resting on your shoulders. While you walked along the buffet grabbing whatever you liked, Jimin had his head on your shoulder from behind your back, his arms draped over your neck. You unconsciously lean into his cheek, letting out a sigh in comfort. Jimin released you and lead you to a table filled with people. You were hesitant but stared at Jimin who smiled at you, urging you to come with him. You followed him with a smile on your face.
"We're going to the beach. You need to come!" Jimin bounced up and down, staring at you as you walked back from chucking the rest of your breakfast.
"I don't know." You mumbled as you sat next to him. Everyone had already left to head to the beach, leaving you alone with Jimin. He stands up and drags you on your feet once more.
"You're coming! I'm not taking no as an answer." Jimin grins and he pulls you outside where the cars were lined up. "Plus, I already have a bag ready." Jimin hands you a bag that held your necessities.
"Jimin!" You blush underneath your hat as Jimin drags you to a car. It was one of those cars with the removable roof. He quickly pushes you in as he seats himself next to you. Other people get in and soon the engine starts as the car drives off. The roof comes down and you quickly take your hat off so it doesn't fly away.
Jimin smiles warmly, seeing how fascinated you were with the scenery. The lakes, the trees, the bright blue sky. Jimin had the urge to hold you and he did. He wrapped an arm around your waist and brought you into his lap. You were surprised and try to get out his grasp but Jimin didn't let go. He hugged your small frame against his chest as you softly laid your head on top of his. He held your hands, rubbing your knuckles during the whole ride.
"Come out! There's nothing to be scared of." Jimin called out as he waited for you outside the change rooms. He had wanted you to change out of your top and jeans into more beachwear clothes. He also made sure to hide your hat and glasses.
"I will! But where's my hat and glasses!?"
"I hid them!"
"You what!?" You barges out of the room and Jimin stood there frozen. You were wearing a (f/c) bikini. He blushed as it complimented your curves perfectly. He smiled seeing the marks on your body, the beauty spots and stretch marks, deeming you more beautiful than ever. You noticed Jimin staring and tried to cover yourself, looking down.
"Hey, you're beautiful." Jimin hugs you before rubbing your bare arms in comfort. You smile up at him and blush seeing him in shorts, his lean body in full display. "There are some people I want to introduce you to. If you're ok." Jimin saw your coloured contacts and your dyed hair flowing in the breeze. His heart beats faster seeing you stand before him all shy and adorable.
"I think I would like that." You nod and Jimin grins down at you, brushing your hair back behind your ears.
"Just tell me if it's too much." You nod once more and Jimin takes hold of your hand in his, gripping tightly as he pulled you to a rather large group goofing around.
"It's sad that (y/n) couldn't come." You heard someone mumble and saw that some of your old friends were in the group Jimin was taking you to.
"Yo guys!" Your heart rate increased and you started to panic. Jimin sat you down on a log and sat next to you. "Look who I found!" You wave shyly as people stare in confusion. "This is (d/n)." Jimin says and your friends look up with wide eyes.
"(D/n)?"
"You haven't met me. I was a new student right before we graduated." You quickly say, shaking your hands and Jimin stares at you in confusion. People nod in understanding and one by one introduce themselves.
"You really act like our (y/n)." You look up in a panic, seeing your friends smile at you.
"Yeah! I remember her love of sleeping."
"She was very feisty."
"And sassy!"
"She was a sly thief I swear to god. I would get so annoyed when she would steal our phones and put them in other peoples pockets."
"What did she look like again?" Jimin asked and your friends showed him your graduation photo. It was you standing in the middle surrounded by your friends. You all were wearing the gown and everyone was cheering but you were smiling sadly in the photo. Jimin stares at you as you shifted next to him uncomfortably. (D/n) looks exactly like (y/n) in the image. Jimin stares with his brows furrowed and you notice. You hide your face and turn away from him.
"Yo dudes and dudettes! It's time to party!" You look up along with the others to see Cupe with a DJ set. There was a bonfire lit by others as the sun started to set. People cheered and stood up to dance once the music started. Jimin has left to dance with his friends and you sat there watching them. You missed them. Every single one. But you couldn't let them know it was really you. You stared out at the calm ocean that ripples slowly against the sand, the sky turning light hues of pinks and oranges. You felt free at that moment. Somewhat. You smiled and took in a deep breath. It was calming and tranquil.
"Are you coming?" Jimin asked and you jumped in surprise.
"Yeah. Why not." You stood up and followed Jimin to a circle of people. A familiar song was playing and you saw your friends dancing together. You remembered the dance. It was one you choreographed together for the graduation party and posted online for. It looked weird without you dancing along them, ruining the formations. Without realising, you walked towards them and took your spot, dancing with them. People cheered and hooted as you danced in perfect sync. Jimin cheered the loudest, seeing you having fun and just letting go. He knew you reunited with them.
The stars twinkled softly in the dark night sky, the moon full and round, illuminating the ocean as it tickled your feet. The warm breeze picked up the edges of your knee-length nightgown but you ignore it, your hands stuffed in the pockets. Your hair flies around softly as you took a deep breath of the salty air. The sand crunches under your feet as you walk a little further into the ocean, the water coming up to your ankle. You always had trouble sleeping and would normally take walks. Sometimes you didn't sleep at all.
"(D/n)?" You don't jump at Jimins voice, hearing the sand crunch under his feet. "What are you doing up so late?" You don't answer back, but stare out at the still ocean. It was so beautiful.
"I don't know." Jimin stood next to you and stared out at the ocean with you. Jimin then turns to you, seeing how calm you were, but you didn't seem happy. You had no emotion, like a robot.
"Are you ok?"
"I don't know."
"Is there something wrong?"
"I don't know." Jimin sighs and turns you to face him. His heart breaks seeing your frown.
"Are you happy?" Jimin watched as you blink at him before replying back, his heart shattering at the words.
"My happiness is not important." Jimin shakes you, trying to break that mentality of yours.
"Of course your happiness is important!" Jimin exclaims, tears springing his eyes. How could someone as beautiful as you think that your happiness wasn't important. It was for him!
"My friends are much more happier when I'm a forgotten memory." You mumble and Jimin stares at you in shock. You were the missing (y/n). The one everyone thought died since there was no contact with you. Like you never existed. "They are so happy. Much happier without me. A burden. That's why I left. That's why I disappeared." Jimin lets your shoulders go as you pushed him, hugging your arms across your chest. You look down and shake your head. "I never should've come here. I wouldn't be feeling all this again if I didn't."
"What do you mean? What feelings?" Jimin reaches out to hug you as he saw you start to shake as you took a step back from his reach. Jimin felt hurt that you thought you were a burden. You weren't to him and he just wanted to hug you close to him, to let you cry in his chest, but you were bottling all this up inside. "(Y/n)-" Jimin froze as you looked up at him. Tears were falling down your face but you smiled at him.
"Thank you for everything Jimin. I guess I fell for you again." You ran off, leaving Jimin standing alone in the beach, your words ringing through his head. You had returned his feelings.
"The plane has boarded. You may take your seatbelts off." Jimin did as told and sat in seat, looking out the window. He stared at the empty seat beside him that was supposed to be filled with the one he loved. But she disappeared into the night. You left. Again. You never showed up to the next morning, or the morning after. People had started getting worried and checked your room. Jimin knew you had fled again as he saw your room empty as he first came into the apartment after you ran off. Your luggage was gone and so were you. Jimin had searched the airport that whole day, but he knew you were gone already.
"You coming Jimin?" Cupe asked and Jimin nodded.
"Yeah." Jimin felt Cupe pat his back as he gave Jimin his bag and they both walked out of the plane together. As soon as he and the others grabbed their luggage, they dispersed, saying their final goodbyes. Jimin looked through his bag to find his wallet but finds a piece of paper folded in his bag. Taking it out, he sees the word Cupid on it, encased in a heart. Turning the paper over, Jimins heart starts beating rapidly, a huge grin on his face.
There was an address on it.
And underneath, was your name.
