(y/n) - your name

(y/n).

The one girl who doesn't seem to smile.

I mean, she does, But it's never real.

(Y/n) has been in my grade and been in every single one of my classes since the first day of high school. Its hard to not fall for someone like her. And the most beautiful thing about her is that she doesn't try. She doesn't need to.

(y/n) is a quiet girl, but she can be extremely loud when it comes to her hanging out with her friends. She is someone who pays attention in class and works hard to get good grades, almost like her life depends on it. She seems like your everyday high school student who has one year left before she graduates, but she can surprise you whenever she feels like it. For one, I didn't know that she was an amazing dancer. She and her friends would dance on stage for school talent shows and it shows how much effort and pride she puts into her dancing. (y/n) was also an amazing hockey player. She could beat her whole class in a game! 1 vs 20! I remember watching one game where she was the only one who seemed to be able to control the ball and score every single time. Her classmates would never catch up to grab the ball off from her.

(y/n) is lazy. Very lazy. She would do her work. But only when she feels like it, which is rarely. And she loves sleeping. She won't sleep in class, but when it comes to weekends or holidays, you can bet she is like a bear hibernating. (y/n) loves her friends. If she were to choose between her friends or her family, her friends would come first. She would say from time to time that her friends were her true family. (y/n) was a strong girl. She was funny. She had amazing humour, she could cook, do crafts like stitching and making clothes. She can manage a business and is stingy about money. (y/n) loves to wear jeans and hoodies and hates wearing dresses and skirts. She would prefer to be at home watching movies or shows rather than be at parties, surrounded by people.

(y/n) is many things, but one thing for sure is that she isn't happy. I've seen her smile, but never a real one. No one really notices. Shes sly that way, invisible when she wants to be. I mean, she can steal anything without others knowing, it was a talent of hers. And another talent is her ability to hide everything behind a mask. She was skilled in that. A professional.

I was the only one who noticed. Cause I knew the signs all too well. There was a point in (y/n)'s life where she had started to drift away from everyone. She was able to lie through her teeth and make excuses to not spend time with her friends, to not have lunch with them or just cancel plans with them. She looked exhausted during school but always power through the classes. Her shoulders would always be slumped like she held the weight of the world on her shoulders. She had stopped talking. Stopped responding and started to be more drowned in her music.

I missed her. The old (y/n).

Maybe I can bring her back.

People chat and gossip in groups as they all huddle together in excitement. Why are they so loud!? I groan and just lay back on the couch, an arm over my eyes. The school had to organise a 2-week vacation for us seniors before school started. It was a beach resort, seeing as it was summer and it was Christmas. Everyone was waiting to see who would be bunking with who.

"Seems like Yoongi is in a bad mood." Jimin mumbles concerned.

"He's always in a bad mood." I can feel Jin rolling his eyes

"True." I take my arm off and glare at the guys who just surrounded me, especially Jungkook.

"Piss off. It's too hot to tolerate any of you." I rub my eyes and sit up as the guys all sat down on the couches in the lobby.

"I wonder who I'm going to be rooming with." Taehyung questions and the rest start talking about who they want in their rooms. I look around and see (y/n) looking around and seeming nervous. She sits down and takes out her phone, trying to look busy. (y/n) had her headphones in and looks outside before moving her attention back to her phone. I furrow my brows, seeing her covered from head to toe. Isn't she hot in those?

"Oooo. Looks like Yoongi is eyeing his crush again." Hoseok says in excitement and I glare at him.

"He's mad. He definitely is." Jimin answers back, grinning like a madman.

"Fuck off." I mumble and get up, heading to where (y/n) was sitting.

"Yo." (y/n) looks up as soon as she notices my shoes in front of her.

"Yo."

"What brings you here?"

"You looked bored."

"I am." (y/n) puts her phone away and leans back on the couch and I do the same.

"Who are you hoping to room with?"

"I was actually hoping to get a room by myself." I glance at (y/n) with a brow raised.

"Why?" She just shrugs.

"Min Yoongi!?" The teacher suddenly calls out my name and I put my hand up.

"What?"

"You're rooming with (y/f/n)." I can faintly hear the whoops of joy from the guys but I couldn't feel anything from (y/n) like a robot turning off.

"So remember guys, there is a bonfire for dinner and Christmas party later on tonight. You guys can do whatever you wish to do before then." The teacher all informed us and we replied back with a simple 'yes'. I was heading up to my room by I couldn't see (y/n) anywhere. Maybe she got to the room first. As I unlock the room, I was greeted by (y/n) unpacking her bag and setting them where she saw fit. How the fuck she get here so fast!?

"Are you heading to the beach with the others?" (y/n) asks and I shrug.

"Yeah. Why not. You coming?"

"Maybe." (y/n) whispered, her headphones still in her ears. She suddenly heads to the bathroom with a new change of clothes and soon comes out in shorts and a soft summer shirt that had long sleeves. I quickly turn back around, trying to hide my blush. Cute. I enter the bathroom to change into shorts and camo tank top. As I got out, (y/n) was gone.

"I was hoping to walk with her." I frown and put my clothes away.

"Yo! You got to room with your crush!" Namjoon exclaims, slamming open the door.

"Careful! You're going to break the door!" Jin exclaims and Namjoon looks at the door sheepishly.

"Let's go to the beach!" Jungkook exclaims.

"Everyone is there already!" Jimin whines, dragging Taehyung out by his arm.

"Calm your tits man. We have 2 weeks." I groan out and follow everyone out on the beach. The guys all rush to the ocean as I walk slowly, my hands in my pockets. People were enjoying themselves with their friends. I look around trying to find a certain someone but I couldn't find her. Wheres (y/n)? I walk around a little more, concern growing as I couldn't find her. I walked a little further away from the beach and notice a figure walking by the shoreline towards a forest. They stopped to stare out at the ocean and instantly realised it was (y/n). I walked a little closer and heard her humming with her music, stopping me in my tracks. She has a sweet voice. I couldn't help the bright blush on my cheeks when I heard her sing a few little notes.

"What are you doing?" (y/n) looks over at me and I jump. I walk towards her and stand next to her, facing the ocean.

"Looking for you."

"Why."

"Why not." We stay by the ocean, breathing in the salty breeze. (Y/n) looks up and closes her eyes before opening them and staring at the sky. I could feel that she was calm, the sun rays making her glow under the cloudless sky. Beautiful. She suddenly walks off and I follow her.

"Why are you following me?" I just shrug and sync my steps with her as she takes me towards the forest. I hope she has a good sense of direction. I don't want to get lost in here. (y/n) leads me to a cliff overlooking the entire beach, the resort and the never-ending ocean. It was a beautiful sight. She sits on the edge, looking down on everything.

"Never pegged you to be a nature person."

"There's just something about it that makes me smile." I sit next to (y/n) and I stare at her, a small smile on my face. She was smiling.

"Merry Christmas Everyone!" the students all whoop in joy, not caring if they woke up the teachers. It was our vacation anyway. It was well past 10 at night, and everyone started to drink and grind on others on the dance floor. I sat on the couch, annoyed by the noise and the heat. There were a couple of girls who tried to flirt with me but I just flipped them off. Tryhards.

"Not enjoying the party?" (y/n) sat next to me on the couch and I jump slightly. This is the first time she approached me if it wasn't for school work.

"Not really."

"Same."

"You seem down." I questioned (y/n) and she just shrugs.

"People get more sentimental during late nights."

"That's not what I meant. You've been more quiet for a couple of months, actually, for a couple of years now." the face that I got from (y/n) actually scared me. She turned to me, a frown on her face, a flash of pain in her eyes before it disappears. Her form looked broken.

"What?" (y/n) questions softly before standing up.

"Wait!" I stand up and grab her hand, feeling the warmth of her small hands in mine. She looked at me with wide eyes that screamed help. "I'm sorry if I said anything wrong. I-" (y/n) breaks my grip on her hand and walks off, disappearing into the crowd. Fuck! I screwed up this time! I start looking for (y/n) around the large hall, passing by drunkards and fuckers. I checked the buffet table and she wasn't there, just people chugging alcohol bottle after bottle. People come up to me for a dance but I push them away.

"Yoongi!" Jin grabs me by my shoulders with worried eyes.

"What's up with you?" Namjoon asks as the others join them.

"Wheres (y/n)!?"

"Calm down Yoongi." Jimin says and I shake off Jin's hands.

"Do you guys know where she is!?"

"I think I saw her heading up to the roof or something." Taehyung says and Jungkook nods.

"Yeah, she was going that way." Jungkook confirms and I run towards the elevator. I continuously press the button, impatient about how long it was taking for the doors to open. Once they did, I entered and slammed the button for the rooftop. I was getting more impatient, tapping my foot on the floor. Come on! The doors open and I enter the rooftop. The night sky was adorned by bright sparkling stars, the moon illuminated and sending silver silhouettes on the ground. The city behind the resort was filled with cars and buildings, numerous lights shining brightly as the ocean on the opposite side was dark and still. I look around to see a figure sitting on a bench next to the edge of the rooftop, looking over at the city. There was smoke billowing around them as the breeze swept their hair back.

"(y/n)." She didn't turn to me, blowing out smoke with the lit cigarette between her fingers. She smokes?

"Go away Yoongi." I walk towards her and grip her hand that held the cigarette, stopping her from smoking.

"I won't." She blows the smoke into my face and I cough, letting her go. I glare at her as she puts out the lit cigarette against the concrete ledge, chucking the dead butt over and into the street below. She stands up, shoving her hands in her pockets and breezes past me. I grab her arm again to stop her but she lets out a tired sigh.

"Don't Yoongi. Just don't." I stare at her broken and retreating form as she enters the elevator

"(y/n)..."

It was the last day of the 2-week vacation and it was also New Year's Eve. People were getting hyped once more for the party but I just head back to my room for some peace and quiet. As soon as I open the door, I see it empty, my hopes of seeing (y/n) shattering before me. I haven't seen her since the night I caught her smoking. I didn't let anyone know about (y/n) smoking. I didn't have the right too. I would try to look for her within the crowds of the students but I wouldn't see her. I have numerously checked the cliff at the end of the forest we went too but she wasn't even there, nor the roof. She was avoiding me. She didn't want me to find her.

The guys have been asking what was wrong when I came back down from the roof but I didn't budge. I didn't say a word. They knew not to push me. I was worried. Very worried. (y/n) wouldn't be in the room if I was. Where was she sleeping? Was she waiting for me to fall asleep before entering the room? Was she leaving before I woke up? Is she sleeping at all? It was hard to spot her during meals as well. Was she eating? She wasn't starving her self, was she?

I sigh out, a hand over my eyes as I lay back on the couch. I sat like this for hours, unmoving. People had declared that there would be a minute left till the countdown.

"I need to get out of here." I mumble out and walk to the elevator to take me to the rooftop. With my hands in my pockets, I enter the elevators as soon as the countdown had started.

"2. 1. Cheers to another year wasted. Cheers to another year closer to death. Cheers to lost memories. Cheers to losing everyone. Cheers to losing myself." I froze in my spot as I exited out of the elevator, hearing a voice shout out at the top of their lungs. I turn the corner and see (y/n) surrounded by empty wine bottles. She chugs down another and softly places it down on the bench next to her. She was sober. How long has she been drinking to have such a high tolerance!? (y/n) stands up and leans against the ledge, admiring the city below as fireworks coloured the dark sky with bright colours and lights. And she smiled.

It was late at night and I was tucked in bed, the bed next to me empty and void of a certain someone. (y/n) hadn't come back to the room yet. The party had died down quickly and everyone was sent to bed. I was waiting. An excuse since I couldn't sleep. The room was eerily quiet as I laid on my left side, facing the balcony.

Then I heard the click.

I froze, trying to pass off as a sleeping Yoongi when I heard the soft click of the door closing. (y/n) came back. I heard shuffling and footsteps getting closer to my bed. I quickly closed my eyes, knowing that (y/n) was checking to see if I was asleep.

"He's asleep." I heard her sigh and the door of the balcony opening and closing. I opened my eyes and watched as (y/n) slid down on to the floor, her back against the glass balcony ledge as her left side was facing me through the balcony doors. Her hair swept around violently, as she sat unmoving out in the cold.

And that's when I saw it. Her scars on her arms.

(Y/n) had brought her legs up to her chest, her head hiding against her knees as her body shook. I didn't hear anything but I knew she was crying. I sat up quickly in my bed, my heart-shattering at the scene before me. She gripped her hair, as she shook more violently, her covering her mouth from the loud sobs that threatened to escape. She looked up and stared blankly at the night sky as I slowly stood up. Tears ran down her face and she broke down. Both her hands had covered her mouth containing her painful screams. (y/n) closed her eyes, gripping her head as I slowly opened the balcony door. I closed it softly behind me as the cold nipped at my exposed chest. But I wasn't worried about that.

I was worried about (y/n). Tears threatened to escape my own eyes as I kneel in front of (y/n). She finally looked up at me and bursts out in tears, her sobs escaping into the night. I started crying, my heart aching as I held (y/n) in my arms. She was shaking so much. I pulled (y/n) onto my lap as she hesitantly wrapped her arms around my neck. Her legs rested on either side of me as her head laid against my shoulder. She held on me tightly and I laid my head on top of hers. (y/n) cried louder and my own tears fell down my cheeks, feeling the pain through her sobs. I held her close to me, hugging her much more tightly as I wrapped my hands around her waist.

"Y-Yoongi-"

"S-shh. I'm h-here." I whisper, trying to not let my voice crack.

"P-please don't l-leave me..."
