YoonJin / Angst
This was the last straw. Yoongi couldn't take it anymore, and he knew it wasn't going to change unless he did something about it himself.
He felt like he was boiling over with anger as he listened to the manager announce Seokjin's promotion. When everyone else clapped and gave their generic congratulations, Yoongi kept his arms by his sides, trying his hardest to refrain from making fists.
Yoongi had wanted that position. He'd been working so hard to earn that promotion. And he had even told Seokjin that he wanted it, trusting him to help.
Seokjin had given Yoongi words of encouragement, telling him the promotion was sure to be his. He had even told Yoongi that he didn't want that position himself; it was too much work. Yet there he was, accepting the promotion.
This was the final betrayal.
Yoongi couldn't even say anything. He couldn't trust himself to not shout, even though shouting was something he very rarely did. He was so mad and hurt that he couldn't think rationally.
He had trusted Seokjin as his best friend for so long, but his trust kept getting used up each time Seokjin would go against him. It was normally small things, like 'accidentally' telling one of Yoongi's secrets to a coworker or outing Yoongi's workplace insecurities during a meeting and disguising it as an opportunity to help Yoongi improve.
But now, this took away the last of that trust. Yoongi could no longer trust Seokjin with anything, and he definitely didn't see him as a friend anymore.
Once the small celebration was over, Seokjin stepped over to Yoongi, smiling as if this wasn't a big strike. "Sorry, Yoongi. I know you wanted this promotion, and I know I said I wasn't interested, but you talked about it with such determination that it started sounding good to me too. Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition. I'm sure you'll get the next promotion."
Not saying a word, Yoongi turned on his heels to walk away. He couldn't do this. His anger was higher than it had been in a very long time.
"Yoongi. Are you mad? Seriously?" Seokjin's smile turned into a smirk. "I thought you could take it."
Stopping, Yoongi spun back around to face Seokjin. "You're such a two-faced backstabber," he hissed out. "I trusted you. But every time I trusted you with anything, you broke that trust. You took my trust over and over again and used it to poke fun at me or take things you know I want. You're a disgusting liar, and I'm done with you."
By this point, some other coworkers were looking, wondering what the commotion was.
"Yoongi, calm down." Seokjin tried to take control of the situation. "You don't have to be so upset over a missed promotion. I'll even help you train for a different one."
"Oh, like you helped me train for this one?" Yoongi spat back. "Go fuck yourself." Unpinning his name tag from his shirt, he threw it on the floor. "Your first task with your promotion can be letting the manager know that I quit. I won't work here anymore because I never want to see you again. Don't ever contact me." That said, Yoongi turned away again and walked out as coworkers stared and murmured to each other about what they just witnessed.
And Seokjin's reputation took a big hit.
