VKook / Spooky
Maybe Taehyung should have noticed that this wasn't right. Maybe he should have realized that the handwriting on the note in his hands wasn't Jungkook's. But it was signed with Jungkook's name, beckoning him to enjoy a wonderful night together.
Taehyung was just so hopeful. He'd had a fight with Jungkook early in the day that ended with them reluctantly agreeing to have some time apart to cool their heads. They didn't live together, so it would be easy to go their separate ways for a few days, until they were ready to talk again. Yet here Taehyung was, standing in his living room with a note that had been left on his coffee table.
Let's forget that stupid fight, the note read. I'm here, and I'm ready to give you a night you'll never forget. Follow the petals to your special surprise. Love, Jungkook.
As he held the note between his fingers, Taehyung felt a rush. There were rose petals on the floor, making a trail he was meant to follow. Jungkook was always the romantic type, and Taehyung knew tonight was going to be beyond words if his boyfriend had put together something special to mend their fight.
With his heart leaping, Taehyung followed the petals, which lead him to the kitchen. He was so careful to not step on the lovely petals, the faint aroma of the flowers from which they were plucked mingling with his nostrils. A smile spread across his lips as he saw the champagne bucket on the kitchen table, full of ice with a classy bottle of champagne nested within.
He pulled the bottle of champagne from the bucket and turned to resume following the petals, champagne in one hand and note in the other. Taehyung could hardly wait to see Jungkook's surprise. He loved Jungkook dearly and was glad that their fight could be over. Despite their agreement to take some time apart, he hadn't wanted to spend much time away from his boyfriend.
As he followed the petals down the hall and up the stairs, he let out a small chuckle of relief and excitement. He was going to have the most wonderful night with Jungkook, right? He believed so.
If only he had paid more attention to the note, the handwriting. If only he had not let his emotions cloud his ability to think critically. He could have been spared what he was about to see.
Taehyung stopped at the door to his bedroom that was left ajar and let out a slow breath to calm himself a little, ready to walk in and be met with a beautiful surprise and that adorable smile Jungkook displayed whenever he was happy.
He thought he was prepared for how this night would end. He thought he knew what was coming.
Nudging the door open, Taehyung was met with something he never could have imagined. The bottle of champagne fell from his hand, shattering on the hardwood floor. He couldn't take his eyes off the sight before him.
It was like an out-of-body experience. Taehyung was no longer there. Mentally, he was gone. He couldn't move, just stuck there, staring at the grotesque display on his bed.
Jungkook was there, nude and positioned like he was sleeping peacefully. But the amount of blood on the bed, floor, and walls proved otherwise.
The amount of care someone had to go through to stage this scene was something Taehyung would never be able to fathom.
As he stared, he couldn't even cry. He was in far too much shock. The high intensity of emotions he'd just gone through might have been enough to break him completely.
The last interaction he'd had with his beloved boyfriend was a fight.
And now...
There was nothing but this image burned into his mind and soul.
