M/N's P.O.V
I hated lying to him, but I don't think my poor heart could've taken an entire night of him cuddling me and saying I'm his closest friend. I knew I couldn't keep on like this. I need to kill off the feelings I held for the sun-like man. He wouldn't like me back. I couldn't deny the obvious anymore, this wasn't some Hollywood film where he would magically fall in love with me. Real life doesn't always give you happy endings to tough situations. That was something I learned the hard way.
We stood there awkwardly for a moment, not knowing how to say goodbye to one another.
"Well, I'm going to head home." He spoke, awkwardly standing there and rubbing the back of his neck.
"Try and get some rest when you get home," I stated, remembering how tired he said he was earlier.
"Okay, Mum!" He laughed, giving me a cheeky grin. He suddenly stepped closer to me and wrapped his arms around my waist, leaving me confused for a second before I did the same. I was suddenly overwhelmed by his smell, it reminded me of peppermint candy canes. I smiled softly, taking the chance to snuggle into his warmth and rest my head upon his shoulder.
"Tired?" He asked as I looked up at him, lightly shaking my head as I tried to fight back a sudden yawn.
"No," I answered, causing him to smile. "I'm fine." He nodded, kissing my forehead lightly.
"Goodnight, (M/n)." He chuckled, pulling away from our hug before he began to walk away, waving goodbye to me as he did. "I've gotta head home or I'll never get to sleep. Also, try and get some sleep." I nodded, waving back as my heart began to ache as I continued to watch him walk away and towards his car that was parked next to the barren sidewalk in front of the dance studio.
"Goodnight, Hoseok," I mumbled, his name falling off my lips as if it were a sacred word.
I watched him rev up his engine and drive off, his car soon blending in with the others that filled the streets. I exhaled, feeling the loneliness begin to consume me, once again.
'I really need to get my mind off of him, he's all I think about now...' I mentally scolded my heart for being stupid enough to fall for my best friend; a typical cliché. I sighed, hating everything about how I felt at that moment. I didn't like how his presence made my heart beat flutter or how my cheeks would turn red whenever he kissed my forehead or cheeks, it was like I wanted to find out that I liked him.
Suddenly, my phone rang, killing the silence that engulfed as I walked down the sidewalk. I pulled my phone out of my jean pocket, quickly hitting the accept button, not caring who it was.
"Hey, do you want to come over tomorrow? I have that movie I was talking about earlier." He asked, his soft voice filling the icy air.
"Sure, I'll be over tomorrow. Would 3 pm work?" I inquired, my eyes trailing up towards the night sky.
"Sure! I'll see you then!" He beamed before hanging up the phone with a quick goodbye. I smiled softly as I slipped my phone into my pocket, my heart fluttering at the sound of his melodic voice. My stupid, stupid heart wouldn't let go of him; it kept pulling me in deeper and deeper.
