It's been a couple of days and I've been having pain on my chest. Jin said it's probably from the stress I've been having by taking care of my niece. I'm only 20 years old and I'm the legal guardian of my 6 year old niece. Her mom left her ever since she ran away with her ex boyfriend. The guys have been helping me with her but I take up all the responsibility because I know they have their career to focus on.
I woke up in the middle of the night feeling sick. I ran to the bathroom and threw up.
"Maddy are you ok?", J-Hope asked.
"Yea I'm fine", I said wiping my mouth.
"You're gonna have to go to the doctor. It looks like you're getting worse", he said.
"I know", I told him. I went back to bed and fell asleep.
The next morning, the guys took Mae to school while I went to the doctor.
It took a couple of hours until they called me. I told them what's been happening so they took a look at my chest. Then they said they had to run a couple of tests. I changed into a hospital gown and lied down. I woke up in the recovery room and the doctor told me I'll be getting the results in a couple of days.
I went to go pick up my niece from school and felt another pain. It wasn't as bad as the other times. Mae ran up to me and wanted me to pick her up. I couldn't though because it hurt me. We walked home and found the guys playing in the living room.
"I wanna play too", Mae said.
"Nope. First homework and then you're gonna eat. When you're done you could play",I told her. She pouted and went to the table.
"So how'd it go?", J-Hope asked.
"I'm getting the results in a couple of days", I told him.
Hours later, everyone was in the living room and we were playing charades.
"You're a squirrel", Jungkook said.
"Nope", Mae said.
"A dinosaur?", Taehyung said.
"Nooo", Mae said laughing.
"A chicken?", Suga said. Mae kept laughing.
"You're a cat", I said.
"Yes!", Mae said.
"No fair", Taehyung pouted. Mae ran up to him and hugged him.
We played for a couple of hours more until Mae had to go to bed.
"I don't wanna go sleep though", Mae said.
"You have to. It's late and you have school tomorrow", I said covering her with blankets. I went back to the living room and J-Hope was the only one there.
"How you feeling?", he asked.
"Good just tired", I said.
"Everything is gonna be fine ok?", he said. I nodded.
"C'mon let's go to sleep", he said taking my hand.
A couple of days have passed and I got something in the mail. I didn't want to believe what the paper said. Breast Cancer. I have breast cancer. It said I have to make an appointment asap for chemo.
Hours later, the guys came in while Mae was still at school. I was sitting on the couch with the paper in my hand.
"Hey Maddy", Jin said.
"What's going on?", Suga asked. I handed them the paper. After they were done reading it they asked a bunch of questions. I couldn't answer them because I didn't even know myself. That night J-Hope came into my room.
"You ok?", he asked.
"Yea. Just tired of everyone asking that", I said.
"Sorry", he said.
"It's fine. I'm fine", I said holding his hand.
"Remember that time we went to Hawaii for Mae's birthday? We were alone and we talked. And we kissed but we never talked about it after that?", he said. I nodded.
"Why is that? I've tried to mention it a couple of times but you either change the subject or you ignore me", he said.
"I was just scared. I don't know what I was scared of. I was just...scared", I told him.
He came closer and leaned in. He stopped when our noses touched. I wrapped my arms around his neck and closed the space between us. A couple of minutes later he pulled away from the kiss.
"Maddy I can't sleep!", Mae yelled from her room.
"I gotta go help her", I said blushing. He nodded and kissed my cheek. I entered Mae's room to find her lying upside down from her bed.
"What are you doing?", I chuckled.
"I'm trying to find a way to help me sleep", she said.
"Here. Let me brush your hair. That makes you sleepy", I told her grabbing a brush.
She fell asleep minutes later.
Weeks have passed and I have been taking chemo to get rid of the cancer. Luckily it wasn't that much so I've only had it for a couple of months. J-Hope has made me the happiest woman ever. He loves being with Mae. And Mae loves being with him. I'm as happy as ever.
