57.Jimin (Part 7 Finale)

I stood back, silently watching as grandma set up the shrine of religious items, beads, different colored candles and had Jimin light them after she set them in the right order. Jimin stood back up looking confused. "Grandma, I know I haven't seen you do a passing ritual in a long time, but are you sure this is the right set up?" He asked. "Stop stalling, I know what I'm doing child." She said, then turned to me. "(Y/n), please stand right here." I hesitantly walked to the middle if the shrine. "Kneel before Him." She said. I knelt down and Grandma out beads over my head, around my neck. "Repeat after me: I, (y/n), hear by beg for forgiveness for I have sinned." I repeated. "I fully entrust you to point my soul in the right direction to live happily for the rest of eternity." I repeated. Grandma turned me around, I still sat on my knees. She burned some sage and waved it around as she started chanting something from her book. A little scared, I looked over at Jimin with teary eyes. He bit his lip to keep from crying and gave me a reasurring look. Grandma's voice started to get quieter and I started to feel lighter. I looked down and my skin started becoming translucent. A light started to blind me until I felt like I faded into nothing, leaving everything, and Jimin, behind. I walked and walked down an endless hallway following a light that was only getting further away. Seeing as it was the only way to go, I continued to walk. I stopped abruptly when I heard a voice call my name. Well, I didn't really hear it, I thought it. "(Y/n)." It called again. I couldn't talk, so I just thought my response. "Y-Yes?" "I hear you have committed a sin; suicide." "Oh, that's correct." "Happiness is the highest good one can obtain, but you were not happy. It was because of your parents, they did not treat you the way you wanted to be treated." "That's also correct. I'm sorry, I just couldn't take it anymore." "Patience is a virtue. Things would have worked out if you had waited a little longer." "Oh now you tell me." "I've given you plenty of signs, but you have ignored every one of them." "Oh." "But I am a forgiving being. I am also known to give second chances, like the one I'm about to give you." "Wait, what?" "Follow the light, and you will find, the the previous life you left behind. It may not be ideal, but not for long, for you can change it, for your will is strong. On the other side, someone waits, to rescue you from your self-fulfilling fate." The voice echoed in my head and I finally made it to the end of the hall. The light was at my finger tips. I took a deep breath and set one foot inside, followed by the rest of my body. It was pitch black, but I could feel the cold breeze engulf me. I slowly opened my tear stained eyes and found myself on the top of a building. I slowly looked down as my feet were dangerously close to the edge and my place of death directly under me. I gasped and looked around frantically. I looked at the giant screen on the building across the street. The date was the date of my death, one year ago. But how? "Stop!" I felt a hand grab my wrist and drag me off the side and back onto the roof. My saviors chest heaved like he had been running. "Are you crazy?" He yelled. Silent, I looked at him, and my now-beating-again heart stopped. It was Jimin. "What were you thinking trying to jump off a building? Is yor life worth that little to you? I wasn't even going to follow you when you ran through crowds of people crying. But something told me to make sure you were okay. Must have been a message from God trying to give you a second chance at life or something." He said. Without a word, I wrapped my arms around him and sobbed. He hesitantly hugged me back. "It's okay, you're okay now." He whispered. I pulled away. "Do you want me to take you home or-?" He trailed off. "I shook my head." "How about I take you to dinner instead? Ease your mind. Maybe you can talk to me about how this whole situation came to be. Maybe I can help." And he did. I never told Jimin about what happened. But after we started dating, I met his grandmother who had a spiritual connection with me. She knew and she knew I knew. We kept it a special secret that only drew us closer. It was a miracle what happened to me. Some people believe people either go to heaven or hell when they die. Others believe suicide is a sin and their souls must be punished. Then some believe there is no life on the other side. I can't speak for everyone, some people probably won't even believe me. But God works in mysterious ways, and this is my story.
