Chapter 26
A/N yay I didn't quit this story 🙃 good luck at school everyone. I'm ready for summer vacation again and it's only been a few weeks.
I looked at and around the house, admiring it. I went toward the front door to get to the main building when I realized the door was hanging open. And none of us left it that way...
I began to feel nervous that someone broke in. It wasn't too absurd that a robber would target such a nice house.
I procured my most intimidating glare, then cautiously walked inside. My eyes immediately met with the back of a stranger whose short, stout figure hunched over slightly. He stood in the living room, looking through the glass doors as if to make sure that no one was around.
Quietly, I approached the stranger. I just got into the living room, slipping between the large couch and coffee table, when he turned around. I jumped back, staying out of his reach.
"Who are you?!" I yelled. "Get out!"
Shock and confusion swirled anxiously in his eyes dark eyes. He didn't seem to understand Korean.
"Who are you?" I asked again, this time in English. Hopefully he understood English, even with my strong accent.
"Are you, uh, are you one of the visitors here? I am the, the owner of this house." He said while nervously twiddling his thumbs.
Didn't think vacation homeowners could be so timid.
I was struggling to come up with an English response, so I didn't have time to say anything before Jungkook came running down the steps.
"Y/N, are you ok?! Who is it?! What happened?!"
"Oh, so this is the owner- Jungkook, stop!" I yelled. I had to hold him back from punching the man in the face.
"What's going on here?" I heard a woman's voice cry out. An unfamiliar lady had just walked in the front door, and unlike the owner, she knew Korean.
"Thank God you're here, Miss Han," sighed the owner with relief.
"Hello, I'm assuming you two are winners of our contest?" Miss Han looked at Jungkook and I.
"Yes, that's right," I confirmed. "And who are you?"
"I'm Miss Han, and I represent the committee of the contest that you and your friend won." She smiled. "The committee figured I should show up and tell you about the house, and situation in case you aren't too familiar with English. You may have noticed, but the owner doesn't speak Korean."
"We learn some English in school, so I've learned it pretty well. The basics, at least," I explained.
"Would you like a tour around the house?" Miss Han asked.
Jungkook shook his head. "No, that's alright. Everyone has already found a room and is currently unpacking."
"Oh, how many came? And could we please meet with the adult of the group? I'll need to confirm that he's verified."
"There's six here altogether. All of the tickets were used." I said. "Taehyung, the oldest, is in the other building. He's staying in the loft."
Miss Han nodded, and smiled again. "If you'll excuse me, then. I'll go take care of that business, while the owner, Mr. Hale, tells you everything else you'll need to know while staying here." The owner seemed to jump at the sound of his name. "It'll include how to maintain the house, WiFi, eating arrangements, etc era." She switched to English to address Mr. Hale, "Please tell them everything for their stay."
Jungkook and I gave a slight bow as Miss Han walked out, then turned to Mr. Hale for his talk.
"So how good is your English?" He asked.
"Err, it's ok." I waved my hand as if to say 'so-so,' "Very... simple?"
He nodded slightly and thought for a moment about how to go forward.
"Ok, so welcome to Kailua Beach Villa. You can treat this place as your own home, but please do not leave it a mess. By the end of the week, make sure to clean everything up so it's the same as it is now. Good?" He waited for us to to nod in comprehension before he continued. "The WiFi information is in the kitchen," he said as he walked into the kitchen and opened a wide counter drawer. A tablet of paper was pulled out with the WiFi name and password listed on the front. He set it on the counter so we could use it later.
Mr. Hale told us everything we needed to know in simple words. We found out that there was a nearby restaurant that serves us all our meals for free as long as we showed our "Winner's Badge" which Mr. Hale provided. The meals could even be ordered straight to the house.
Also, I learned from that experience that Jungkook was more advanced at English than I was.
Once Miss Han got back to the front door, she made sure we had no questions then walked out with Mr. Hale.
I turned to Jungkook, a teasing expression on my face. "I didn't know you were such an English scholar."
"I've made English speaking friends on Overwatch and learned a lot from them," Jungkook smirked. "You don't seem too sharp on it though."
"How rude! I kept up with Mr. Hale really well earlier! And I replied to him," I stuck my nose in the air.
"But your accent was so strong," he laughed and dramatically bent over and slapped his knee.
"It's not that funny," I glared at him. "Anyways, I'm gonna take a look around upstairs."
I hastened up the steps noticing a doorway to the left of the staircase. I made a mental note to check it out later.
When I reached the top, I scanned the hallway. It both went both straight ahead, and to the left. Jungkook followed me upstairs and took my arm leading me straight to the end of the hallway.
"This is my room," he said as he pushed the door open.
"Ok...?" I tilted my head. I shifted my gaze from the room over to Jungkook. He returned the look and our eyes locked onto each other's. My heart stopped when he shut the door behind him, smirking as he did.
"Erm, what..." I barely managed to speak. He held still, without a response. Suddenly, his lips started to quiver, and his eyebrows bunched together. Soon enough, he lost his composure and burst into laughter. His face flushed a little.
"It's so easy to mess with you!" He laughed even harder.
"Stop laughing! It's not funny at all!" I yelled, kicking at his shins.
"Ouch! That was uncalled for!" He pouted.
"False. You deserved it in full," I said matter-of-factory. "So, your only intention in taking me to your room was to tease me?" I lifted an eyebrow.
"Why? Are you disappointed that nothing more happened?" He lifted a eyebrow as well.
"Gross," I pretended to vomit.
"My real purpose lies here!" He dramatically presented his large, flat-screen TV. Then he motioned towards a PS4 that was set up to it. He tenderly stroked the top of it while staring at me with a strange expression that basically said "lookie, lookie here. I've got my precious playstation all set up and ready to play."
I crossed my arms.
"You're not the only one who brought their beloved on this trip. I've got mine packed up right now," I explained. My attitude toward the situation changed, and I looked at Jungkook with disappointment. "Did you seriously spend all your time here setting up your console? You haven't unpacked at all, have you?"
Jungkook rolled his eyes. "You're the last person that should be talking to me like that. I bet you've been spending all this time wandering around like a lost child without unpacking either."
I pursed my lips and nodded.
"I know you so well, don't you think?" He asked.
"Yes, freakishly so. Have you been stalking me in the past?" I replied, half of me actually suspecting him.
"Hey, hey, back up," he said, a shy smile forming on his face. "Memorizing what your class schedules are, and stalking you are on totally different levels. I'm not that creepy."
"When did you have the time to memorize my classes?" I asked, confused.
"Y/N, I've known about you a long time before you've known me..."
A/N Once again, a celebratory author's note: I UPDATEDDDDD REEEEEEEEEEE
