Chapter Two: Silent Thoughts

It didn't take the two long to find a cage big enough for the uncle to be in, or a bed that fitted in it.

They didn't let him out to use a human bathroom, only the bathroom in his cage.

The uncle had started to loose weight because of them. They had stopped his flow of fatty, greasy food along with the beer. Unless he "behaved" or they were in a "good mood".

He hated it all.

The treatment he received was shit on a good day. On a bad day, he could go hours without food or water, sometimes they would drag him out and beat him like he had beaten them.

At the end of the day, no matter what, he always cried himself to sleep.

How could he have done those awful things to them? They were already dealing with so much at such a young age...Their useless father left, their mother was killed in a shootout and his younger brother, the original caretaker, had died in a car crash.

All they needed was love, was support, was a shoulder to cry on...What did he give them? Hell, that's what he gave them.

He bowed his head, the tears not slowing.

He was such a horrible man in general. He was just a drunkard who used to beat his wife till she ran away. He was almost completely eliminated from the family for all the shit he had pulled.

Yet, the one who saved him was his sister... He owed her, yet he treated her children like fucking shit. Worse than that actually.

A quiet hum entered the room, the sweet twin entering next.

Her calm blue eyes looked at their uncle with the type of glee of seeing one's pet after a day in school.

"I hope you're hungry." She whispered in a sing-song voice.

The uncle didn't bother shaking his head as his stomach turned. She would force him to eat anyway. It was to eat what she gave him, or be fed actual dog food.

This time was different though. She opened the cage and placed his bowl outside it, just enough where he had to crawl a bit to actually get the food.

Swallowing back his fear, he inched forward, waiting for her to get impatient.

She didn't. In fact, she seemed to have been watching him intently.

Gulping some, he lowered his head to his bowl, wincing at the annoying jingling sound his collar made when he clanked against the bowl. Yet, he pushed that aside and he slowly ate like the animal he was.

Savannah's eyes glowed as she watched him eat. This was a good sign.

Gently, she began to pet his greasy hair, moving her hand down to his neck and back.

The uncle shivered softly, fear surfacing as he lifted his head some from the food. He was worried that she would hit him. Maybe he was doing something wrong?

A sweet giggle left her lips, her mouth forming a calming smile. Her eyes were encouraging him to continue to eat.

The flipping in his stomach calmed some, and slowly he began to eat again.

Like before, she began to pet his head, trailing her hand down his neck and back before going back up. It was rather soothing actually.

The uncle relaxed, enjoying the loving attention. It didn't take long before his food was gone and he pulled back. His shirt and shorts were slightly torn and covered in dirt and food. They were disgusting just like his now shaggy hair and greasy skin.

Savannah made a face, wrinkling her nose.

Seeing her face, he swiftly retreated back into the cage, curling up on his equally dirty bed.

Her eyes only narrowed more.

Finally, she stood up and left, leaving the cage unlocked. However, the uncle was too fearful to leave. His limbs were weak from little use and he was never physically fit before.

Several minutes passed before both Savannah and Ace entered the room.

Immediately, the uncle whimpered and whined, stuttering out apologies and quietly begging that they don't hit him so hard.

"Out." Ace spoke so sweetly, so gently that it caused the other male to wince and cower back.

Still, the uncle crawled out. He knew better than to disobey Ace, Ace he hurt the worst and he was returning the favor.

Ace and Savannah helped him to his feet, pulling him to the garage. A large tub waited for him there, a wooden chair in the middle of it.

The two strip him of his dirty clothes first before setting him in the tub. Savannah then dumped some lukewarm water over his head. Instantly, the water turned to a rusty brown, making all three of them wince.

After two more times of them simply dumping water over their uncle's head, Ace added shampoo to their uncle's hair. The young nephew used his fingers to comb out the knots, tossing disgusting clumps of ratty hair that got caught in his fingers.

The uncle closed his eyes, breathing slow and calmly, even as they dumped water over him.

After a while of washing his hair, they removed him from the tub. The tub was filled with disgusting water that needed to be dumped.

The two left their uncle in the garage as they dumped the water in the backyard. Once it was dumped, they brought it back to see their uncle patiently waiting for their return like a good boy.

Savannah openly smiled and praised him softly for waiting for them. Ace only gave an approving nod, before setting everything up again.

The twins moved to washing their uncle's body, which was harder than his hair and they had to wash it several times and shave his legs and underarms. While they were doing that, they decided to trim his hair as well so it would still be nice.

After being bathed and trimmed, the pair gave him some new clothes and told him to wait in the living room.

He did as he was told, knowing nothing else at that point. He was their pet, he could do nothing unless they told him to do something. He was almost broken, but hope came back..Just a little bit of hope. Savannah was sweeter than before and it was getting better for now, as long as he was good.

The two came back after a short while, Savannah held a happy, cheerful smile. Her brother held a more neutral look, yet his eyes smiled softly.

Silently, they motioned for their uncle to follow them. He obeyed, slumped some as to not seem too big.

The three of them entered his room, which had now been redecorated.

The floor was properly swept and cleaned. There was a human bed in the corner with some old and torn blankets around it. On the other side of the room, in the cramped closet, was the cage, it was also cleaned and neatened too. Little ways from the cage was his bowls of food and water. The only thing he couldn't see was where he was supposed to use the bathroom.

The sister twin giggled with a bright smile, her eyes glowing almost. The brother twin looked up at their uncle.

"You go there." He pointed to a small hole in the wall, barely big enough for a cat to squeeze through.

Laying around the hole was some newspapers and other things one would use for a pet's bathroom.

The uncle nodded, walking into the room.

He sat on his new bed, which was a little bouncy and had an annoying squeaking sound. Though, it was a step up from the thin cloths he had before.

Savannah hopped over with something in her hand. She then showed it to him, making his face pale ever so slightly.

It was a dog tag, an animal one. It held a new name for him. They were calling him Zeke now, apparently... Zeke Jones.

Gulping softly, Zeke tilted his head up, wordlessly accepting the new name. He had no choice but to accept.

The twins were happy, treating their uncle as nothing but a dog. A pet. However, he accepted it all, obeying everything they said, and behaving as they wanted him to behave. This was how he was going to make it up to them. To his sister.
