Rocky Balboa once said, "The world isn't sunshine and rainbows. It will beat you down if you let it and nothing hits harder than life." In a way, it may be true. However, in Reign's life it was nothing more than a quote she once read. That was what she thought before she met him.

He was the epitome of a dazzling devil. The boy had hair so luscious and full that even hairstylists' envied him. His hair was a charcoal, ear length, mess. His eyes were so entrancing that not even a siren could resist. His jaw line was so sharp he could cut diamonds with it if he wanted to. His lips were full and looked as if the fur of a bunny wasn't as soft as them. Even his ears were perfect.

Although there was one thing that wasn't perfect about him, his hunger for pain.
In the beginning Reign loved her dazzling devil, he was kind and chivalrous, until one day Koa the dazzling devil became Koa the devil himself. It was as if Koa had flipped a switch. What was once a kind and chivalrous boy became a cold hearted bully. He would use his ability to scare off threats to her. He would tell Reign that she was nothing more than an object for him to use.

Reign never understood what changed him, until one day she found out.

His hunger for pain only developed after his eighteenth birthday, where he found out that he was the son of Algea, the god of pain. Koa's father would make him abuse Reign and if he did not, Algea would kill her.

Reign knew she needed to learn to protect herself, so she found the nearest messenger of the gods and goddesses and demanded to speak to Athena. Reign left with no contact from Athena but was surprised to see an eye ring, just like the talisman of Athena.

From that day on, Reign would receive visions from Athena herself, telling her of the only way to defeat Algea.

Not only would Reign be the downfall of Koa's evil father, but she would get her dazzling devil back. Now, of course, she could not tell Koa as Algea would then find out. Instead, she would tell him in her mannerisms. The mannerisms only Koa knew.
Somehow, this caused the couple to fall even deeper in love. Algea was furious; he thought love was a weakness. Athena was pleased. The girl had listened to her.
Athena knew that they had finally learned about the brutality and beauty of life. They had not only learned it but they embraced it.
