CHAPTER SIXTEEN.

"[name]! how was your weekend?" uraraka cried out, literally throwing herself at the poor female for a hug once the [hair color] haired girl walked into the classroom.

bakugou rolled his eyes at the display and turned his attention back to kirishima, denki, and sero.

"hey, bakubro, are you okay? you haven't been messaging us like you usually do," kirishima questioned, adjusting his seat on the desk.
it was an understatement to say that he was just a little worried about his best friend.

bakugou sucked his teeth in irritation.
"i'm perfectly fucking fine, shitty hair. you don't have to worry about me."
he dismissed the redhead's concern with a flippant wave of the hand and glanced over at [name] who was silently standing with her friends who all laughed and exchanged conversation with one another.

except her.

bakugou grimaced and fought the urge to roll his eyes again. why was she so damn quiet around her friends?

"okay class, quiet down," mumbled aizawa as he walked into the class room. surprisingly enough, the hobo-looking man was wearing something that wasn't his bright yellow sleeping bag. perhaps the apocalypse was today. or maybe present mic or midnight had ambushed him outside of his house and forced him to change.

the class all dutifully walked back to their desks and quieted down, waiting for aizawa to begin.

the school day ended and bakugou made his way to the field to meet up with his partner.
part of him wanted to just message her and tell her to forget it so he wouldn't have to see her annoying face longer than he had to, but the more responsible part of him just wanted to get it done and over with.

he sat on the bleachers with his legs spread apart and his arms dangling in between them as he waited impatiently for the girl to show up.
the ash blonde considered that the reason [name] was later than usual was because she could be getting changed into something other than her gym uniform, something he had made sure to do before coming outside.

he stared at the two groups of people on the other side of the field, watching as some practiced, socialized, or just sat there doing nothing.
when he got tired of people watching he turned to look at one of the u.a exits. his timing was perfect because soon enough, he saw [name] jogging over in tights and a white t-shirt.

"sorry i'm late," she mumbled softly once she finally made it to where he was sitting and rubbed the back of her neck in embarrassment. she did a couple of stretches and waited for bakugou to get off the bleachers.

it took him a couple minutes to stand up and with a groan and a roll of the shoulders.
"are you ready?"

she nodded and he cracked his nuckles.

"then let's start."

out of breath, [name] was bent over with her hands on her knees. she gasped for air before looking up at bakugou who was staring down at her with his usual merciless expression.

"get up, mute! the enemy isn't going to wait for your fatass to catch your breath!" he sneered, fists on his hips (like a total diva) and taunted the panting girl.

furrowing her eyebrows, she gripped her legs in attempt to calm down. what the hell? bakugou katsuki did not just call her a fatass. part of her wanted to scream insults at him and give the rude boy a taste of his own medicine but she kept herself silent. it was the fact that he acted way different while on the phone that saved the ash blond from a torrent of curses.

"alright, listen," bakugou began to speak, trying to think of ways to help out the girl with her fighting technique and her quirk, "what pisses you off?"

[name] stared at him. talk about a total 180. just a few minutes ago he was laughing at and now he was being...helpful? and what pisses her off? why was this question even slightly relevant with what was going on?
"what do you mean?"

the ash blonde sighed and ran his hand through his spiky hair. he had to think of a way to explain it to someone...that was more pure than him. which meant he had to keep his cursing on the down-low. he pulled his hand out of his hair and wiped his sweat onto his t-shirt.
"okay, let's just say someone does something and it makes you really angry, or whatever. what would that thing be?"

the [eye color] eyed girl took a second to think.
"i don't really like mean people," which explained why in the beginning of the year she absolutely despised bakugou and monoma. and now look at where she was, online friends with one of them.

he smiled, satisfied with her answer. after all, being a mean person was his line of work. the fiery eyed boy took a step closer to her, ready to taunt her until there was no tomorrow.

"so, you don't like mean people?" bakugou put his index finger under her chin, making her slightly more uncomfortable than she already was. poor [name] had just seen the explosive blond, out of all people, smile a few seconds ago, so excuse her for being on edge.
"how mean do i have to be for you to show me what really goes on in that little head of yours?"

his unsettling smile widened, like the devil about to take someone's poor innocent soul. her's, to be more precise.

"i mean, you can't always be all sunshine and rainbows, can you?"

her eyes were wide and her heart was beating so loudly that she swear could hear it.
"w-what?" she stammered, her breath hitching in her throat when his palm moved to touch the side of her face.

"tch," he sucked his teeth and pulled his hand away as quickly as he put it there, putting them back into his pockets.
"don't worry mute, i'm not gonna blow you up."

[name] gulped and looked away. she could feel her face burning up. what the hell was that? was he taunting her? and why did she think that was actually kinda hot?
great, another huge problem on her plate. not only was she secretly messaging bakugou, was secretly friends with bakugou, and now she was secretly slightly attracted to him.

well, he was kinda cute if she tilted her head and squinted really hard.

"we'll end this here. we can work on this again on wednesday," he mumbled, picking up his water bottle and gym bag before walking away and pulling out his phone.

the [hair color] haired girl stared at him walk away before her phone vibrated and she smiled.
