Chapter 17
So it has been several years since an update has been made on this story, I figured it would be amusing to just randomly hop in and write a chapter. Since my last update, I have graduated high school and started college, so some maturing has been done. I'm not even into BNHA anymore, but without further adieu, here is chapter 17 <3
-----------------------
Izuku departed for the hospital early in the following morning to see Shouto. After all, the young hetero-chromatic hero needed support, both mentally and physically. He hurriedly readied himself before taking the train to the hospital. Once he arrive, he rushed up to the front desk to the tired looking receptionist. "Hi, I'm here to visit Todoroki Shouto." He said softly, waiting for the receptionist to pull up his name. "And you are?" She asked calmly. "Izuku Midoriya" He responded, to which the lady nodded. "Alright, the room is floor four, room 8." She said as she gave him a visitor's pass.
He bowed his head lightly in thanks, borderline running to the elevator in his rush to see his other half. When he felt it took far too long, he went to the stairs. He wouldn't enjoy it, but he would do it to get to Shouto quicker. He ran up the stairs, taking two at a time until he saw the fourth floor sign. He opened it, looking side to side as he speed-walked down the hallway. Eventually he saw the door the receptionist had informed him of. He calmly took a breath, knocking quietly but a bit rushed. Once he heard a small 'come in' from the other side, he speedily opened it.
The greenette had to chew on the inside of his cheek in order to not frown at the pitiful state of the person he had come to know as being so strong. Shouto had propped himself up lightly on a pillow to be sitting more upright. He was hooked up to an IV and a heart rate monitor. He had several bandages wrapping him, as well as visible bruises of varying shades. His wrist was wrapped up in a splint. "Oh, Shouto.." Izuku eventually muttered after several moments of silence. He slowly approached him and pulled the available chair to be directly beside the bed.
"How are you feeling?" Izuku asked after a moment, reaching for Shouto's good hand to offer some comfort. "Y'know, in tip-top shape as always" He said, his voice a bit scratchy, with a small laugh that held no true joy. Izuku sighed quietly at the flat attempt at a joke, rubbing his thumb over the back of his lover's hand. "I'm pretty hopped up on painkillers at the moment, so I feel okay, I'm just tired." Shouto finally genuinely said after a moment. Izuku nodded a bit, glancing up at the IV bag presumably keeping him from being in pain. "That's good that you're not hurting, you should get some rest though, I'll stay by your side." Midoriya said quietly, leaning down to kiss his knuckles.
Shouto frowned for a moment at the prospect of not being conscious while he had the company of Izuku, but soon nodded and gave in, adjusting to be laying down. Though, he still kept a gentle hold on Izuku's hand. Soon, the injured boy drifted off to sleep and true to his word, Izuku stayed. He only left to go get them subpar hospital food, and when the nurse quietly came in and told him visitors had were only allowed for another 10 minutes. The boys said their sappy goodbyes, along with a promise from both of them to text each other.
So, Izuku went home solemnly, informing his mother on Shouto's state once he arrived. He passed out the moment his head hit the pillow, having been so mentally, emotionally, and physically drained still. He had a dreamless sleep, only waking up the following morning to his alarm. He painstakingly dragged himself out of bed to get ready for his classes. Upon his arrival, he was almost immediately bombarded with questions of what happened, and where Todoroki was, because of course something like that would reach the news, especially in the hero world.
Izuku Midoriya, who was normally one of many words, kept his words short when asked about Shouto. If his boyfriend wanted his story shared, that was his place to do so, not Midoriya's. So, the day went on, Izuku jetting out of the school very uncharacteristically once they were dismissed. Of course, him and Shouto had texted throughout the day between Shouto's bouts of sleep, but it was different to see him in person. He quickly went to the hospital, only stopping to pick up an order of cold soba from his favorite shop, surely Shouto was tired of the hospital food already.
And that's how the rest of Izuku's week went, he would go to school, rush out to pick up some food and go to the hospital to spend time with his beloved until the last second visitor's were allowed. At some point along, several of their classmates had him deliver get well soon cards to the injured male in hopes to show him they were there and cared. As well as that, police officers came to the hospital to question Shouto on his side of the story for the trial.
Shouto was released a week after he was rushed there on an ambulance, only having been kept for so long to make sure his condition was stable. After some discussion, Inko, Izuku, and Shouto had decided for him to stay with them until things settled down, at least until Endeavor's trial occurred. And so he did. He stayed in a household that kept him well fed and well loved, for the first time in his life.
Shouto returned to school, avoiding the curious gazes of his classmates and those who were brave enough to truly ask him what happened. He would tell them in time, but it was more important for him to heal, both mentally and physically, before anything of the sorts happened. The court date drew closer and closer by the day, and Shouto could feel the anxiety creeping up his spine the more he looked at the calendar with a big red circle around the day a week from then. But he would be okay. Everything would be okay. He knew that, he just had to convince himself of that.
Of course, Izuku noticed the increasing anxiety in the man he had become so accustomed to reading. Sometime words were a struggle to get out of his lover, so he had learned how to read his actions and body language. So he sat Shouto down one night, quite late into it at that. "What's going on Sho?" He asked quietly, brushing the red and white bangs out of the other's face.
Shouto sat quietly for sometime, trying to figure out how to get the words out, though they felt stuck in his throat. "I'm just.. scared. The trial date, it's coming, and quick. I just don't know how to face him. How to talk about it, about what he has done tome, to my family. But I know I have to, if I want to keep myself and everyone else safe from him." He eventually choked out all at once.
Izuku frowned, moving to cup his cheek, rubbing his thumb along his cheekbone. "Hey, look at me, it will be okay. It will all be okay. Me and mom will be by your side supporting you. He will be in a courtroom. He can't get to you. He cannot hurt you. He will not hurt you. I promise. I will be here for you, through thick and thin. Everything will be okay, yeah?"
Shouto hesitated before nodding a little, looking into those green eyes of his lover's. "Yeah.. yeah, it'll be okay. And maybe, you're gonna be the one that saves me."
-----------------------
And here you go, another chapter after so many years. I doubt I'll write again to be honest, but I suppose if people come back to this story, I could be persuaded. Until next time
