28. Card

Oda yawned. "Daddy!"

Akaashi looked up from shaving his face. "What?"

"It's bedtime."

Akaashi hummed. "Go get Bo."

Oda got up, going into the bedroom across the hall. He pulled on Bokuto's sleeve. Bokuto picked him up, moving things off of his bed. "What is it bud?"

"I told Daddy it's bedtime and he said to come to get you."

"Does Daddy not want to go to bed?"

"I dunno."

Bokuto chuckled. He went into the bathroom, sitting down on the side of the tub. Akaashi concentrated on finishing what he was doing, a bit frustrated with how long it was taking.

When he did finish Bokuto hugged him, squishing Oda between them. "Hey!"

Akaashi laughed. "You two are so weird." He let go and headed towards his room. "Let's go."

Bokuto cheered. "Snuggle time!"

"Snuggle time!" Oda called out.

Akaashi laid down and Bokuto plopped on the bed. He set Oda down, turning off the lights.

Akaashi laid down, relaxing. Bokuto huddled into them, getting comfortable.

"Night night time?"

Oda squirmed.

"Goodness."

Oda settled against Bokuto, holding onto Akaashi's arm. Akaashi smiled, hiding his face between pillows. Bokuto touched his hair, gentle as ever.

Oda shifted. "Good night Daddy."

"Good night lovebug."

"Good night Bo Bo."

"Night buddy," Bokuto whispered. His heart clenched, still patiently waiting for Oda's trust to grow. He wasn't going to call him Papa until he was ready, which was completely reasonable. Bokuto would wait though, as long as the little one needed.

Akaashi shifted, already half asleep. He yawned into the pillows that he was still hiding in.

"You okay there Keiji?"

"Mhmm…" Akaashi hummed softly. He reached up, rubbing Bokuto's hair. Oda turned over, burrowing into Bokuto's chest. Akaashi smiled drowsily. He kissed Bokuto before kissing Oda's hair. "G'night."

Bokuto kept rubbing the back of his head, easing Akaashi to sleep. Oda was sound asleep on Bokuto's chest. Bokuto eventually started to fall asleep, comforted by the fact that his little family was safe in his arms.

Well, nearly safe. Oda couldn't escape his bad dream that night, waking him. Bokuto woke up too, worried. "Buddy?"

Akaashi stirred. Oda cried into Bokuto's chest, sniffling loudly.

"Hey, hey, hey… Oda…" Bokuto sat up. He lifted Oda with him and placed him in his lap. "Hey, buddy… what's wrong?"

"I-I'm gonna wake up Daddy," The little boy wept. He clung to Bokuto, shaking like a leaf.

"I'm sure Daddy won't mind."

Akaashi finally woke, confused. "What's going on?"

"He had a bad dream."

Akaashi rubbed his eyes, putting out his arms. "Come here lovebug."

Oda crawled into his arms. "Oh no… oh no!"

Akaashi noticed the issue and got out of the bed. Bokuto got up, changing the sheets. Akaashi washed off Oda and carried him back to bed, sitting there with him in his lap. Bokuto got into bed, kissing his hair. "It's okay bud."

Oda, upset and about to fall asleep, grabbed for him. "Papa…"

Bokuto lifted him, cradling him in his arms. "Shhhh, shhhh, shhhh. It's bedtime, okay? No need to cry."

"I pottied in the bed!"

"You can't control it. It's okay Oda," Akaashi whispered. "Do you want to go to Dr. Ito to see if we can control it?"

"Mhmm…"

Akaashi kissed his temple. "I need to go back to sleep, okay?"

Oda nodded. Bokuto rubbed Oda's back, holding him. "I've got you bud… Daddy's here too. We won't let any scary monsters get you."

Oda sniffled. "I wan my blanket."

Bokuto picked up his blanket and held him tight. "I've got you."

"My Papa."

Bokuto kissed his forehead. "Your Papa." He got Oda to fall asleep before laying down with him in his arms. Bokuto planted a soft kiss on his forehead before falling asleep again. After that Bokuto only woke up once, and that was from Oda kicking him in the stomach while he was sleeping.

Akaashi put down his water bottle, panting. "Ko, never do that again."

Bokuto looked over from jogging on the treadmill he was on. "Babe, I only said I was doing two miles."

Akaashi glared. "I hate running now."

"C'mon."

"No way. Treadmills are demons."

"No, they aren't." Bokuto glanced at the meter on his treadmill. He eased down the speed and got off. "You okay?"

Akaashi started coughing. "I'm going to kill myself."

Bokuto hummed. "Can that wait? I'll help you stretch again."

Akaashi nodded. He had Bokuto lead him to the floor where he stretched back out. This had been the first time Akaashi had gone to the gym in a long time. He was susceptible to seizing still so technically he was supposed to go with light things and he'd thought that it was okay to do this.

He was very wrong though, his body still not keeping up. All of his tests came back clean all of the times he'd gotten checked but he was still tired.

"You feeling okay?"

"Eh… a bit off."

Bokuto leaned down, noticing how pale he was. He handed Akaashi his water. "Let's just chill, okay?"

Akaashi nodded. Bokuto moved him somewhere away from others, rubbing his back.

"You need anything?"

Akaashi shook his head and his head dropped. "Fuzzy."

Bokuto put his hand behind Akaashi's head and eased him down onto his back with a bundled-up shirt under his head.

"Excuse me?!"

Bokuto glanced over. "I'm sorry I need to watch him. Give me just a moment."

The woman standing next to them sighed. "I need to set my daughter down."

"I understand that but this is a bit more important." Bokuto noticed Akaashi's body going slack. Akaashi gulped, looking panicked. "Relax. It's okay."

Akaashi lost his grip and started to seize. It wasn't as violent as normal and Akaashi didn't seize for long. Bokuto put him on his side and rubbed his arm, patient.

"It's done. Can you two move?"

"Ma'am, please. He needs a moment," Bokuto pleaded. Akaashi started to cough, curling in on himself. He wasn't there at all mentally, confused. "Deep breaths Keiji… do you need to throw up?"

Akaashi nodded, shaking.

"Oh God, no! That's disgusting, don't do that in front of my daughter!" The woman cried. People started glancing over, worried.

A worker walked over. "Is everything okay over here?"

"They're trying to traumatize my daughter!"

Bokuto glared. The girl with the woman shifted. "Mom… I can sit somewhere else."

"No! This is where you always sit!"

The worker looked at Akaashi, noticing how pale he was. "Is he alright?"

"He's nauseous. He just had a seizure." Akaashi leaned into Bokuto, covering his mouth and trying to take deep breaths. "Can I please just take him to the bathroom to get him calmed back down?"

"Of course, the bathrooms are just-"

"No! He can not go to the bathroom until he apologizes to my daughter."

Akaashi threw up into his mouth, eyes watering. Bokuto noticed his sudden jerk and eased him up. "Come on Keiji."

"Apologize!" The woman pushed on Akaashi.

Akaashi startled, mouth opening and he threw up.

"OH MY GOD!"

Akaashi nearly started to cry. "I didn't mean to."

Bokuto held him up. "It's okay, it's okay love."

"And now you're trying to push this on my daughter!"

Akaashi coughed. "Ma'am, please stop."

"You disgust me."

Bokuto held Akaashi closer. "Can you leave us alone?! You literally just watched him have a seizure and didn't allow me to take care of my own partner. Enough lady, move."

The worker hurried over another worker. Akaashi started to feel the room spin, clinging to Bokuto for stability.

"Going down?"

Akaashi nodded.

Bokuto lifted Akaashi, holding him. If they had to pull the cancer card both would be upset but honestly, this seemed like the only way to get rid of this lady.
