22. Snores

Bokuto looked up, drowsy. "What are you doing?"
Oda struggled, trying to get on Bokuto's bed. "Waking you up."
Bokuto hummed. "Why?"
"I need help."
Bokuto sat up, getting out of bed. "What happened buddy?"
"I um…" Oda fiddled. "I peed."
"Congrats?"
"In the bed."
"Oh!" Bokuto took his hand. "Let's go clean up."
Oda nodded, silent. Bokuto gave him new pajamas and underwear, getting him to wash up. While Oda bathed Bokuto kept the bathroom door open, worried as he changed the sheets.
"Buddy? Is everything okay in there?"
"Mhmm!"
Bokuto finished and walked into the bathroom. "We need to get to bed soon bud. You alright?"
"Mhmm." Oda climbed out of the tub. He was helped being dried off and dressed before Bokuto lifted him, bringing him downstairs to go outside for a few breaths. Oda seemed upset from the accident. Bokuto walked around the back area of the house, rocking Oda and talking to him softly.
Oda eventually fell asleep on Bokuto's shoulder, his soft snoring reassuring. Bokuto brought him to his own room, putting him on a towel and covering him up as he slept. Bokuto laid down, holding him.

Tsukishima leaned back into his chair. "So you're feeling okay?"
"Kind of. My body is still very weak." Akaashi cringed at the Ensure shake he'd been given. Gross.
Tsukishima nodded. "Your hair's growing back."
Akaashi shook his head. "I don't think so."
"Alright then."
Akaashi hesitantly felt of his head. He gasped. "Peach fuzz!"
Bokuto walked in. "I got you grapes!"
"Hell yeah!"
Bokuto paused. "Oh? I mean I knew you liked grapes but wow."
"No, no. My hair! Bokuto I have peach fuzz!"
"Oh! Hell yeah!"
Akaashi clapped. "I'm healing!"
Tsukishima smiled subtly. "Glad I could help."
Akaashi grinned at him. "Thank you."
Bokuto sat by the bed on his other side. "Celebratory frozen grapes?"
Akaashi nodded. "Yes, please."
Bokuto shook his head. "Finish the shake first."
"Aw." Akaashi drank it, trying not to throw up from the feeling. After this was over he was definitely never drinking shakes of any sort. He did get the grapes though.
Grapes and naps were honestly the things he looked forward to while in the hospital. Unless he got to see his son. That's about it.
Bokuto was kind of always there so that always made him happy but oh God those grapes.
Tsukishima left, going to work. Bokuto stayed with Akaashi, mostly doing things on his laptop for work but also giving Akaashi glances. Akaashi fell asleep close to the edge of the bed but seemed okay.

Akaashi looked up from washing his hands, smiling slightly. He could see a bit of hair growing back on his head and his eyebrows. He felt his head, enjoying the hair that was there now.
He went to his room where Bokuto was sleeping. Slowly, he got into bed. It was morning and Akaashi had woken up surprisingly early so he'd waited for Bokuto to wake up. The older male was tired from work so he was sleeping here with Akaashi where he wanted to be.
Akaashi honestly didn't mind and let him hold on as he snoozed. Bokuto was the type of sleeper to put a hand on Akaashi's stomach and head nearly under Akaashi's back. He was snoring and drooling a bit, which was fine. Akaashi liked his snores.
"Mm…" Akaashi poked him, making Bokuto whine. "You're snoring."
"Mhmm." Bokuto pat his stomach. He shifted, comfortable.
Akaashi moved Bokuto's head onto his bicep. Bokuto opened his eyes, drowsy. "Better?"
Bokuto smiled. "You are so fucking pretty."
Akaashi flushed. "Kotarou."
"Hehe." Bokuto sat up. He hummed, rubbing his eyes. "Comfy. I need water."
Akaashi handed him a water bottle.
"I can't drink from things you drink; I might get you sick."
Akaashi pointed to the seal. "I know."
"Oh!" Bokuto laughed. "Thank you."
Akaashi smiled. He fiddled with Bokuto's fingers, content.
"Hey, your hair is looking good."
Akaashi smiled. "Thank you."
Bokuto poked his forehead.
"What was that for?"
"Nothing."
Akaashi poked him too. "You're weird."
Bokuto held his face in his hands. "Hey, do you have a fever?"
"Probably." Akaashi sighed. "Why?"
"Your face is super hot."
Akaashi shrugged.
Bokuto laughed. "I should head to work."
"You probably should. Weirdo."
"Says you."
Bokuto shook his head. "What am I gonna do with you?"
Akaashi smiled. "Get me frozen grapes?"
"Of course." Bokuto leaned forward before hesitating. He tapped his forehead against Akaashi's. "Weirdo."
"Nice save for someone who just tried to kiss me."
Bokuto grabbed his bag, stumbling out of the room. "Bye!"
Akaashi laughed. He settled under his blankets, planning on taking a nap before breakfast.

Oda jumped up, getting the attention of his father. "Daddy!"
"Yes?"
"Can I play on your phone?"
"Not right now lovebug."
"Aw, why?"
"I'm tired. Go ahead and clean up; Kuroo is going to take you home soon." Akaashi burrowed his head into his blankets. God, he felt heavy today.
Oda noticed the action and did as he was told. He packed up his toys in his play bag and walked over to his father. "Daddy?"
"Hm?"
Oda kissed his forehead. "I love you. See you later."
"I love you too. I'll see you soon lovebug." Akaashi hugged him carefully.
"Night, night." Oda kissed his cheek and headed over to the door, grabbing Kuroo's hand.
Akaashi covered his head in the blankets, making a cocoon around himself. He coughed, getting comfortable. Stupid weak body. Stupid cancer. Stupid hospitals.
This wasn't fair. Oda was being tossed around like a puppy and he had to stay in the hospital, away from where he called home. Here he was just another cancer patient. Here he was just another sick single parent. Here he was just another useless stupid-
Akaashi startled out of his thoughts as a hand touched his shoulder. "Did you fall asleep?"
Akaashi lowered the blankets slowly, meeting Bokuto's eyes through his own teary ones.
"What's wrong Keiji?" Bokuto whispered, hugging him.
"I feel stupid."
"You're not stupid." Bokuto wiped away his tears. "What gave you that idea?"
"I just feel that way." Akaashi sniffled. "I don't know what to do."
The older male nodded. "That's okay. You don't need to know what to do."
Akaashi pulled him back down into a hug. "I wanna go home."
Bokuto climbed into his bed, holding him closer. "Soon."
"But I have another month left here!"
"And then you get scanned. Then we go home. Oda will be there and we can have a little less healthy food- even if all I eat is healthy most of the time."
Akaashi sniffled. That sounded wonderful. He huddled into his special spot, drifting off.
"There we go… better?"
"You're so much better."
"Hm?"
Akaashi relaxed all the way, just on the edge of sleep but nowhere close to being awake anymore. Just this warmth and familiar frame helped.
