17. Sleeping

Bokuto turned, smiling. "Well look at you."

Akaashi touched his head. "I don't know… It feels odd."

"No, no! You look good!" Bokuto hurried to him. "You look so good."

"Ah… I don't like it." Akaashi held Bokuto's hand, fiddling with his fingers. "I really liked my hair before."

"Well yeah. You liked your hair. It's hair. It's going to grow back when all of this is over Keiji." Bokuto sat him down. "It's my turn. Stay here."

Akaashi nodded. He sat by himself for a bit with his mask on, fiddling silently. Things were so weird now.

Ren was gone and it made Akaashi panicky. He had no one to tell him what to do. He had no schedule and had no idea what to do with himself if he wasn't told what to do.

Bokuto bought him tons of healthy food and had shown him different ways to cook so things were not as bad to taste. Bokuto took him walking in the mornings and they took Oda with them walking after dinner. He let him sleep and told him updates every few hours of what was going on and checked on him. He was so sweet and held onto him with such a gentle hold.

"Alright! Let's go!"

Akaashi turned. He gasped. "Kotarou! Your hair!"

Bokuto chuckled. "It isn't as cool as the spikes. I didn't want you to feel alone though."

"You can't just- ooh no that's embarrassing." Akaashi hid his face.

Bokuto leaned down, poking him. "Keiji."

"Whaaat?"

"You are so sweet." Bokuto helped him up. "You don't need to worry."

"But we look bald. I practically am bald."

"Oh, hush bald people look fine. We're cool." Bokuto held his hand, heading down the street. "How tired are we? Scale it."

"Five going to six."

"You think it's nap time or…?"

Akaashi shook his head. He yawned.

Bokuto eyed him. "Lunch then?"

Akaashi nodded. Jesus Christ, it was cold out here. He pulled his jacket tighter as the wind blew, whining.

Bokuto reached into his bag, getting a beanie and a scarf from it. "We need to get you a thicker coat. Did you layer up?"

"I'm wearing three shirts and two pairs of pants. I just… I'm sorry. My body feels weak now and I always feel sick." Akaashi shivered. "It's too much."

Bokuto hummed. He scooped him up. "I gotcha."

Akaashi burrowed into him. "Thank you."

"Of course."

"They said you can have instant noodles. Is that too much?"

Akaashi kept playing with his sleeves, standing still. "Mm… Uh…"

Bokuto turned around. "Are you feeling okay?"

"Mhmm. Noodles are too much."

"Okay. Well… Hm." Bokuto opened his fridge. "Oh! You like asparagus. How about I make some of that and you have grapes and almonds." Bokuto put a plate down. "I have frozen grapes."

Akaashi didn't step forward, not wanting to get in his space. Bokuto noticed, putting his hand out.

"Come here silly." He pulled Akaashi closer. "Get in my space all you want. I do not have a bubble."

"Everyone has a bubble."

"I do not."

Akaashi shuffled forward, opening the freezer. He bent down, getting the container of his grapes. He had his own containers here. How neat. They were purple topped.

Bokuto fixed him some asparagus and grabbed the bag of almonds. Akaashi looked like he was cold. "I'll be right back."

Akaashi nodded, still eating his grapes.

Bokuto came back and gently slipped a coat on him and gave him a blanket. "How is it?"

"Oh. I usually only-"

"Eat one thing at a time. Forgot." Bokuto sat down in front of him. "Do you have a big bubble?"

"Depends."

"On?"

"My energy." Akaashi took a sip of water, glancing at Bokuto. Bokuto looked so weird without hair.

"And right now?"

"I don't have that big of a bubble right now."

"Alright." Bokuto yawned. "We should take a nap."

Akaashi nodded. He coughed, growing tired. All he needed to do was get through eating. That was okay.

When he did finish he didn't want to walk the ten steps upstairs and instead plopped on the couch. What a nice couch.

Bokuto brought him blankets and pillows, tucking him in. "Is your bubble small enough to let me lay here too?"

Akaashi nodded, putting up an arm. Bokuto crawled into his arms, holding him close. The poor thing was shaky and kept coughing. Bokuto rubbed his back, holding the back of his head as he huddled into his special spot under his jaw.

"Better?"

"Mhmm." Akaashi flinched.

"Bless you."

The smaller of the two huddled up closer, tangling their legs together. They both lay there for a bit, Bokuto slowly rocking to get him to fall asleep. Akaashi fell asleep, snoring softly. Bokuto didn't sleep, feeling a bit bad for making him walk around so he watched over him.

Akaashi, as usual, was perfectly fine and didn't move too much. He was snuggly and calm, fingers moving every so often on Bokuto's chest.

"I broke in again!"

"Shhhh!" Bokuto sat up a bit. "Dude."

Kuroo stopped, watching to make sure that Akaashi hadn't woken up. The younger male only shifted a bit, huddling into Bokuto's chest. Quietly, Kuroo walked over. "You got him to fall asleep?"

Bokuto nodded, sitting up with him. "He's not too happy with me."

"Why?"

"I shaved my head." Bokuto grinned. "It looks good though."

"Hell yeah." Kuroo smiled. "It almost feels weird not to see him scared."

Bokuto slowly stood. "He deserves not to feel that way."

Kuroo helped him with moving Akaashi into bed, stepping away when he needed to.

Akaashi slowly slid off his beanie. "So...?"

Oda stared at his father. "Daddy..."

"Hm?"

"Can I feel?"

Akaashi leaned down. "Go ahead lovebug."

Oda felt of his head, in wonder. "All of your hair is gone. Why?"

"I didn't like watching it fall out because it made me upset."

Oda kissed the top of his head. "It's okay Daddy."

Akaashi sat up, trying not to cry. He loved his son so much. He was just like his biological father.

Bokuto leaned down and kissed Oda's hair. "That made him really happy buddy. Thank you."

Oda smiled. "You're so much nicer than Dad."

Akaashi took Oda's hands into his own. "Go get dressed for bed sweetheart."

Oda stared up at Bokuto for only a moment longer before getting up. He headed upstairs where his things were.

Akaashi turned to Bokuto, smiling. "He's so happy now."

Bokuto hugged him. "You are too."

"For the most part." Akaashi hugged back, not held down by the weight of his engagement ring anymore.
