Coffee Cake Brownies

Brownies for breakfast! These coffee cake brownies are rich, fudgy, and lightly spiced, with a thick layer of buttery crumb topping.

~Ingredients:

-Brownie Mix:*

1 Stick Salted Butter, melted.

1/2 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder.

1 Cup Granulated Sugar.

3/4 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon.

1/4 Teaspoon Ground Cloves.

2 Large Eggs.

2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract.

-Topping:

1/2 Cup All Purpose Flour.

1 Cup Granulated Sugar.

1 Stick Salted Butter, cold, cut in cubes.

~Directions:

~Making the Brownies:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Line a 8 inch by 8 inch pan with parchment paper or aluminium foil and grease lightly. Leave enough aluminum foil overhanging on the sides to lift the brownies out of the pan. Set aside.

Step 2In a large bowl, whisk together the cocoa and melted butter. 

Step 3Add in the sugar, cinnamon, and cloves, mix until combined. 

Step 4Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each. 

Step 5Add in vanilla. 

Step 6Fold in flour a little bit at a time JUST until you no longer see flour streaks in the batter. 

Step 7Spread the batter in the prepared pan.

~Making the Topping: 

Step 8In a medium bowl, combine flour and sugar. 

Step 9Add in the cold cubes of butter and mix with your hands until the mixture is combined and forms crumbs. 

Step 10Sprinkle over brownie batter, gently pressing into the top.

Step 11Bake for roughly 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs but no raw batter. 

Step 12Let cool completely before cutting and serving.

Step 13: Eat and Enjoy!

~Recipe Notes:

*If using unsalted butter, make sure to add a pinch of salt to the batter.
