Coffee Cake Brownies
Brownies for breakfast! These coffee cake brownies are rich, fudgy, and lightly spiced, with a thick layer of buttery crumb topping.
~Ingredients:
-Brownie Mix:*
1 Stick Salted Butter, melted.
1/2 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder.
1 Cup Granulated Sugar.
3/4 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon.
1/4 Teaspoon Ground Cloves.
2 Large Eggs.
2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract.
-Topping:
1/2 Cup All Purpose Flour.
1 Cup Granulated Sugar.
1 Stick Salted Butter, cold, cut in cubes.
~Directions:
~Making the Brownies:
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Line a 8 inch by 8 inch pan with parchment paper or aluminium foil and grease lightly. Leave enough aluminum foil overhanging on the sides to lift the brownies out of the pan. Set aside.
Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the cocoa and melted butter.
Step 3: Add in the sugar, cinnamon, and cloves, mix until combined.
Step 4: Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each.
Step 5: Add in vanilla.
Step 6: Fold in flour a little bit at a time JUST until you no longer see flour streaks in the batter.
Step 7: Spread the batter in the prepared pan.
~Making the Topping:
Step 8: In a medium bowl, combine flour and sugar.
Step 9: Add in the cold cubes of butter and mix with your hands until the mixture is combined and forms crumbs.
Step 10: Sprinkle over brownie batter, gently pressing into the top.
Step 11: Bake for roughly 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs but no raw batter.
Step 12: Let cool completely before cutting and serving.
Step 13: Eat and Enjoy!
~Recipe Notes:
*If using unsalted butter, make sure to add a pinch of salt to the batter.
