" They never god damn pick up. "
Now properly dressed and ready, Sam, Sunny, Dean and Bobby sat around the table, a small pot in the middle.
Sam sat next to Sunny, a hand wrapped around her waist in a way that he'd been dying to do before last night. He felt a sense of pride to be able to do that.
"Dean, go over exactly what went on with you two last night. Minute by minute." Bobby directed Dean. Dean sat hunched over, his eyes fixated on the television remote on the table. "But not if its...uh...inappropriate." Bobby added. Dean nodded.
"We washed up, I got her some stuff so she could sleep on the couch. We watched TV for as long as I can remember. She fell asleep on me and I...I didn't want to wake her so I just sat still and slept too. It was late...three in the morning?" Dean took in a deep breath. "I didn't notice she wasn't there until you woke me. I swear."
Sunny nodded, glancing down at her watch.
"Three? It's six now. Three hours this bastard has on us." She told the boys. Bobby shook his head.
"That's if it follows our rules. This thing might teleport, hell, she could be in a different dimension." Bobby hated to be the one bearing the bad news but someone had to.
Sunny nodded, her shoulders sagging.
"There's only one person that knows what it is." Dean quietly spoke.
"Huh?" Sam looked over at Dean.
"The only person who has ever come face to face with this thing would be Jo and your family. Now it's been brought to our attention that they ain't exactly sitting up in heaven with the big guy drinking coffee. They're down here, watching you two. Nobody has a better view than your mother, father and siblings." Dean explained. Sam nodded.
"Dean's right. They're the only ones that could know for sure." Sam told Sunny.
"Boys-" Bobby protested.
"Come on Bobby. You want Jo back or not?!" Dean barked, anger sparking up once more. He didn't realise how much he wanted Jo back safely until now.
"Settle down, boy. Course I do." Bobby barked back.
For a second Bobby wondered why Dean was freaking out more than Sunny. Then Bobby's eyes wandered over to Sunny and Sam, who sat closer than usual. Bobby also failed ignore the arm around Sunny's waist.
"Oh hell..." Bobby cursed, rolling his eyes. "Ain't this peachy."
"Come on." Dean urged. "Now are we gonna contact their spirits or not? Cause I don't wanna waste time that we could be looking for Jo."
"Me neither...but Jo and I have tried to contact them. Ouija boards, spells...everything." Sunny resisted the urge to cry out in frustration. "They never god damn pick up."
Sam shook his head. "When you're a spirit, emotions are the only thing you know. They get scared and angry whenever they need to warn you about something. That fear acts as an anchor and allows them to break through the curtain and contact you. If it's out of the blue, they can't do it as easy. Now, with Jo missing, they've got to be scared. It's worth a try."
Sunny sighed, calming her hands from shaking. "Okay, lets do the spell."
The four of them got the stuff for the spell, placing the items inside the small pot in front of them. Sam clutched the old brown woven spell book and found the page for summoning a spirit. He traced it with his fingers, readying to talk.
"You ready?" He asked Sunny, placing a hand on her shoulder. She nodded, biting at her fingers.
So Sam begun reading out the spell, dropping a lit match into the pot. A small fire burned in it and Sunny stared at it, following the bright red aura with her eyes.
The fire grew seemingly large and the room got dark. Bobby shut down the curtains, leaving the fire as the only light.
Sam finished the spell, placing the book down on the coffee table.
The fire continued to glow in the pot.
"It didn't work..." Sunny mumbled, letting a tear flutter out with a blink.
A small hand found it's way onto Sunny's shoulder. It couldn't have been Sam's. He was right next to her.
"Hey sis." A small child voice taunted. "Long time no see."
