Description of being/feeling trapped in the dark
Will woke up in a dark room, the events of before flew back to him, the memories of his childhood, the pain. The looming face of Erebus was ingrained in his brain, haunting him when he closed his eyes. His hands flew to his neck where the needles had been inserted. Nothing. No pain, no scars, nothing. Almost like it didn't happen. But it did, he knew it did. He could remember it happening. It hurt. It burned. It...it... The pain was only a faint memory. Any sort of healing magic would have left...something. A faint scar, a slight pain...something. But this...this was magic Will had never seen before. It was...bad. Erebus could bring him to the brink of death, then he could be healed back to perfect health. He let out a shaky breath, slowly getting to his feet.
"Hello?" he called out, not expecting an answer. Honestly, he wasn't sure if he wanted a response at all. What would be worse, the crushing loneliness and emptiness or someone or something in there with him? He paused for a moment, before stumbling around trying to find a wall. He needed to see how big this room was, see if there was a way out. He hated this. He hated this. He hated this. Stumbling around in the dark, alone, trapped. His fingers brushed against the cold, damp wall, and he began to follow it, counting the steps as he went.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
He hit the other wall, and turned, continuing to count.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
Seven.
Eight.
Nine.
He took a slow, deep breath, and continued to walk, not counting the steps this time, but instead, he was feeling for a door. His fingers brushed over the rough stone, feeling the same texture across all four walls. So he was trapped. There was no way out. He slid down the wall, curling in on himself. And it hit him like a ton of bricks. He was trapped here, at the mercy of a psychotic primordial god who wanted to use him to get to his boyfriend. This wasn't good.
A small giggle snaps him out of the fog filling his mind. He looked up, seeing himself, about 10 years old standing there covered in blood. Lex's blood. "Oh? Why are you so sad? You don't need to be sad." The child giggled, moving closer to Will, who flinched away. "What's wrong? Did I do something wrong?" He frowned, clenching his fists. Will felt a stabbing pain in his left hand, and when he glanced down, he saw the wound reopened.
"W-who...what are you?" He mumbled, looking up at the twisted version of himself. A child-driven mad from what he could do. It was what he could have become. The darkest part of him. What would have happened if he wouldn't have made it to camp? If he wouldn't have had the support of his half-siblings, things could have been so much worse.
"I'm you silly," the child giggled, the pain immediately going away. He smiled brightly at Will. "I'm the parts of yourself that you hideaway. All the baaaaaad things we did that mamma didn't catch. All the naughty things we did." The child moved, sitting down next to Will, gently poking him with a bloody finger, "You don't remember? What we did? What we could do? Teachers getting really sick when they were too mean. Bullies having cuts and scrapes that got infected way too easily. Our stepdad getting sick very easily."
Will shook his head, "No...no...that wasn't me. I'm not a bad person. I didn't do that. I...i" Memories flash before his eyes. The child wasn't lying. Memories that he had suppressed came back to the surface. All those horrible things he did, every time he lied to his mother...every horrible thing. "I...i didn't know b-better," he stammered. "I-I was a stupid k-kid." His breath quickened slightly as he shook his head, "N-no...." Tears filled his eyes, as he let out a sob.
"Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!" The child yelled, which was not helping. It was making his breathing quicker and he soon spiraled into a panic attack.
His breath was short and ragged as tears filled his eyes. His head spun and he couldn't think. He let out a choked sob, his hands shaking as he curled in more. His mind spiraled, and all the awful things he did came rushing back, twisting his thoughts. It had been so easy to hurt them. It was so fun. They had hurt him first so what had been the harm. "N-no...I-I cna't b-be li-likie that any-anymore." He sobbed as the child watched.
The child just watched as the older him cried. It was pathetic. He was supposed to be big. He wasn't supposed to be like this. He had to fix big him. He needed to remind him how much fun it was to be bad. To make people hurt when they hurt them. But there wasn't anything he could do. He'd done what he could. He just had to wait. Maybe big him would figure it out on his own. Maybe Erebus would have to figure it out. He giggled and faded away, letting big him cry all alone.
He had to calm down, he had to calm down, he had to calm down he had to- A part of the wall seemed to slide away and the shadow-like form of Erebus loomed in the doorway. His presence was strangely calming and Will felt his breathing steady. "I do hope you had a nice chat."
Will shook his head, "Wh-what was that thing?"
Erebus laughed, "I do believe he introduced himself. He wasn't lying. That was you. Well, he is a part of you. The part of you that was suppressed. Unable to grow, unable to develop. Just a broken child. Because of your mother and your 'friends.' They wouldn't accept the real you. So he was pushed away, unable to grow, unable to learn. It's truly tragic, is it not?" He moved into the room, sitting down near Will. The wall slid back into place, trapping Will with Erebus once more.
"N-no...NO! He's dangerous...I...I'm glad I never-" Will moved away from Erebus, "I'm-I'm not like that. Not anymore." He shook his head, the repressed childhood memories trying to force their way back into his thoughts. "I-I didn't know better...I do now...never again...I can't..." He let out a soft sob, "I...I"
"Oh, and why is that? Dangerous abilities don't mean bad. Dangerous can be scary, but if you learn how to control it, you would have nothing to fear." Erebus had almost a soft tone in his voice, "My child, let me help you. The Olympians will never accept you, they won't understand how special you are."
Will shook his head, "No...you're trying to manipulate me...I-" He took a slow deep breath, "I don't...you can't help me..." He tried to move away but seemed to be frozen in place. Erebus's words seemed so genuine, but...that wasn't possible. "no..I..."
Erebus let out a huff, "I guess I can show you what it would it would be like if someone found out." He waved his hand and Will felt himself passing out again.
So I'm finally back, I'll try to update more!!
