I didn't want to leave Mitch there.

As we left the room, we saw several dead bodies. However, not all of them were dead.

"Lydia..." I heard a sudden harsh voice, and when I turned to face him, I couldn't believe it.

"Oh my God..." I whispered and ran to the man, Thomas right behind me.

"Lyds, what's going on, we don't..." He began, but stopped when he saw the man beside me. "Bard? " He knelt with me beside him.

"You were supposed to stay..." I started but he entered my words.

"I know. " Older man replied. "But I had to... "

"It'll be okay, you'll get out of this. " I smiled faintly at him and felt tears welling up in my eyes.

"No, Lydia..." Old man interrupted me again. "It's okay. " Smiled slightly. "Really. I came here because I wanted to. I'm fed up with a lonely life... I want to see my family again... I miss them..."

A tear ran down his cheek.

"For so many years I have looked at other happy families. I watched parents play with their children and grandparents play with their grandchildren. I couldn't have known such happiness. I want to see them again... " He looked into my eyes. "Please..." Added and handed me a shard of glass.

His wound was deep and it was evident that he was in pain.

"I can't..." I whispered despite everything. "I can't... "

"Please, Lydia..." He smiled slightly. "Please... "

I looked at Thomas with tears in my eyes. Like me, Rapp didn't want to kill Bard, but the man was still in pain. We could only comply with his last request.

Tom nodded to me.

"Okay..." I smiled slightly at Bard.

Wanting to calm him down, I started humming a lullaby that my mother sang to me to sleep when I was little. I glanced at Rapp again.

He motioned for me to stab a shrapnel in the neck. It'll be the least painful death. I just nodded and smiled at the old man one last time, then slowly jabbed the blade in the neck.

Bard looked at Thomas and then at me.

"Thank you..." He smiled faintly and stroked my hand. "Thank you..." He whispered, then closed his eyes, from which drops of tears fell for the last time.
