The sun was beginning to set, casting long shadows across the park. Chris and Felix sat on a wooden bench, the gentle rustling of leaves providing a soothing background music to their conversation.

"I can't believe two weeks have flown by," Felix said, his gaze fixed on the horizon. Chris smiled, "It feels like just yesterday we were strangers."

A comfortable silence settled between them. They watched as children chased each other, their laughter echoing through the park.

"Remember the day we first met at that cafe?" Felix asked, breaking the silence. "You were so nervous, you almost spilled your Latte."

Chris chuckled, "I was a mess. But you were so calm and understanding."

As the sky darkened, they decided to walk home together. The cool evening air was refreshing, and the city lights twinkled in the distance.

"I don't want this to end," Felix admitted, his voice barely a whisper. Chris turned to face him, "It doesn't have to."

They walked in silence for a few moments, the only sound the rhythmic tapping of their shoes on the pavement. "So, what do you say?" Chris asked, his voice filled with hope. "Want to make this official?"

Felix's heart pounded in his chest. He had been waiting for this moment. "Yes," he replied, his voice barely audible. A smile spread across Chris's face. "Good. Because I want to be with y-"

As they rounded the final corner towards Felix's house, Chris's voice trailed off mid-sentence. His eyes widened, a look of surprise washing over his face. Felix, hearing him stop so abruptly, turned to follow his gaze.

Felix's younger brother, Mateo, and Chris' younger brother, Lucas, were locked in a passionate embrace. Lucas's hands were tangled in Mateo's hair, while Mateo's arms were wrapped tightly around Lucas's waist. Their lips were moving in a rhythm that spoke volumes, their hands exploring each other with an intensity that was both intimate and public.

Chris and Felix exchanged a wide-eyed look, their faces a mix of surprise and shock. "Well, this is... unexpected," Chris managed to stammer.

The two boys, startled by the sudden voice, pulled apart, their faces flushed with embarrassment. Lucas's eyes darted nervously between Chris and Felix, while Mateo looked visibly shaken.

"Lucas?" Chris managed to utter, his voice barely a whisper. "Uh, hey," Lucas stammered, his eyes avoiding his brother's gaze.

Mateo, sensing the tension, quickly stepped forward, his voice firm. "It's not what it looks like." Before he could explain further, Lucas quickly shifted the blame onto Mateo, pushing him away harshly.

"He forced me!" Lucas exclaimed, his voice trembling. "I didn't want this!". Mateo, taken aback by the sudden aggression, stumbled backward. "What the hell, Lucas? I never forced you!". His eyes, filled with hurt and confusion, met Felix's gaze.

Felix watched the scene unfold with a growing sense of unease. He knew his brother, Mateo, better than anyone. He knew Mateo's gentle nature and knew that Lucas was lying. It was obvious.

Chris's heart on the other hand pounded in his chest as he listened to his brother's trembling voice. Lucas, usually so confident and carefree, was now a broken figure, his eyes filled with fear and shame.

"He forced me, Chris," Lucas pleaded, his voice barely a whisper. "I didn't want to, but he made me."

Chris's mind raced. He knew Lucas. He had seen the way Lucas could manipulate situations, how he could twist the truth to suit his own needs. But he couldn't shake the image of his brother, vulnerable and terrified.

"I'll take care of it, Lucas," Chris promised, his voice firm. "Don't worry."

Felix confronted Chris, anger boiling within him. "What do you mean "I'll take care of it"? You know he is lying, don't you? You can stop him, but you are choosing to believe him instead."

Chris, his own heart heavy with guilt and confusion, tried to defend himself. "I don't know what to believe. Lucas seems so sincere."

"Sincere?" Felix scoffed. "You're a fucking idiot, Chris. You are letting your brother's lies ruin everything." "Don't you dare talk to me like that!" Chris retorted, his voice rising. "I am trying to help!"

"Help?" Felix sneered. "You're helping him destroy us both". The argument escalated, each word a venomous dart aimed at the other's heart.

"You know, I thought you were different," Felix spat. "I thought you were better than this."

"Well, think again," Chris replied, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I'm just like everyone else, a self-serving asshole." With that, the two parted ways, their friendship shattered, their hearts broken.

They're not breaking up because they don't care; they're breaking up because they care too much.
