Stranger not so Danger
I looked around me and as expected I was surrounded by trees slightly illuminated by the full moon.
Ok Lisa, think...
I looked back at the tunnel from where I came from and imagined the path I came from underground. I didn't have an extraordinary sense of direction but I could give it a try.
I just need to follow the same path through the forest, that should be easy right?
I thought about whether I should turn on the flashlight or not. I pondered my choices: walk in the dark and risking to trip on something, or use the flashlight and risk to draw attention and signaling my position to the enemy.
Oh well, if I fall at least the ground will catch me.
If I got caught however I would be in big trouble so logically I chose to walk in the dark and use the light the moon rayed through the trees to guide me.
I ran for a while, as fast as I could, not hearing anything but my own fast breathing. I was physically tired and at this point, it didn't even look like I was running anymore. I wanted to go faster but my legs wouldn't obey me. I felt that all of my body was about to shut down, but I had to keep moving. I didn't know if the vampires from before were still following me, probably not as if they were they would have caught me already, but I couldn't be sure, so fear and adrenaline kept me moving.
A shadow fell in front of me accompanied by a loud noise. I lit the anti-vampire flashlight to see a big man standing in front of me clearly not affected by the light. He was really big, at least compared to my small frame and my 5'6.
So I guess he's an ogre?
Well I could have started a fire and try to burn the giant, but he would be able to kill me first, so I turn to my second option: hurting him. I kneeled to reach my silver dagger, despite knowing that I had no chances to win against a freaking giant.
I am not going down without a fight.
As I reached my dagger I felt my feet losing contact with the ground. Mr. Giant decided to grab my other arm and lifted me. I tried to reach the dagger, but I couldn't so I looked at him trying to hide my fear.
"What do you want?"
He turned my body around and I realized I was surrounded by at least ten people, all standing there in silence. Whether they were Mythicals or not didn't matter because I simply couldn't get out of there even if I tried.
Well, you had a good life Elisa Blake.
They started walking, Mr. Giant carrying me by my arm.
"Hmm, could you please grab my other arm too?" I asked him gently, as it felt that my arm would just tear up from the rest of my body.
He let out a grunt but changed my position. He was now carrying me over his shoulder.
"Thank you."
I heard another grunt but couldn't avoid smiling. It was ridiculous of me to smile given the situation, but I thought that the way he was acting rough but actually sympathized with me was cute. Maybe I wasn't going to die after all or maybe I was just high on adrenaline.
We walked... Let me rephrase that, they walked for a few minutes until we arrived at a large open area. Mr. Giant put me down, I smiled at him and he just turned me around and pushed me to the center of a circle created by the same people that surrounded me earlier.
"How rude," I told him before looking at everyone around me once again.
Guess I'm dying today after all.
Unexpectedly, I heard a car getting close fast. The people in front of me turned around and opened a space between them. For a moment I had hope. I thought that maybe Levy and the others were safe and came to save me. My hope disappeared when I saw a black sports car stop in the gap. A tall man wearing a black helmet got out of the car and marched towards me.
This is it.
"Get in the car," he said to me with a strong and yet soft voice.
I just stood there staring at him like an imbecile. All of my body froze, I wasn't even breathing. He left out a sigh and took me by the arm to shove me in the passenger seat. He closed the door and went back to the center of the now half circle. At that moment my brain decided to wake up and I looked for the keys of the car hoping that man was stupid enough to let the keys in the car. Of course, I had false hope.
After a few seconds, the man sat on the driver's seat and started the car.
"Put your seatbelt on," he ordered.
I've turned as if I was to grab the seatbelt but instead of going for the seatbelt I discreetly move my right hand to grab one of the silver's stake.
"I wouldn't do that."
"Great he had to be a ninja," I mumbled.
I heard him chuckle as I put the seatbelt on. I scowled at him, but I didn't know if he could actually see me or not with his stupid helmet.
"Why are you wearing a helmet when you're driving a car? It's not like we're in a race or something."
"Do you think you're in a position to ask questions or comment anything?"
"I'm going to die anyway right? So why not? At least I'll know something new before I leave this world."
"You're lucky that I'm in a good mood. I wear a helmet so people don't recognize me."
"Haven't you heard of masks? You would look less ridicule and it would be way more practical."
"Masks don't protect my head from silver bullets."
"Hmm, yeah, I guess you're right, but it still looks ridiculous. I can't even take you seriously and I'm your hostage. I should take you seriously."
"You're not my hostage. I'm actually saving you, those guys would give anything to hurt a member of the Hunters Order."
"Why did you rescue me then?"
"Because you were only at the wrong place at the wrong time, you're not a member of the order and none of this is your fault. Besides you don't seem to be a bad person."
"So are the others. None of them is bad."
"But they know what they're doing. They know what we do and still fight against us, against justice."
"They're doing their jobs."
"Doesn't mean that what they do is right."
"Fair enough. Then how come you were able to take me from there without any of them complaining?"
"I'm their leader."
I was worried about Levy and the others, they're not bad people, they shouldn't suffer.
"Are they going to hurt the others?"
"Relax we weren't going to kill or hurt them, we're just going to trap them to send a message."
I felt relief invading my body.
"Why do you do this? I mean the attacks and robberies?"
"You have to see us as Robin Hood. We steal from rich companies to give to the poor and expose the truth about some companies. We only attack the bad guys. The companies that enslave their workers, don't respect the rules, that get rich at the expense of others, basically the companies and people that have no ethics whatsoever."
"Give me an example."
"Well, for example, some pharmaceutical companies create diseases to sell more medicine. In order to bring justice, we give the money we steal from them to their victims. If everything goes perfectly we even expose the conspiracy, showing the true face of those companies."
It's an honorable cause but...
"It's still a crime though," I said.
"It is indeed... unfortunately. But it doesn't mean that what we do is wrong."
I rolled my eyes. Of course, he would say that. The others do their jobs and it doesn't mean it's right and the Brotherhood commits crimes, but it doesn't mean they're wrong. I guess, at some point, that might be true, especially when you keep in mind the example he gave me.
"I need to know your address to-"
"You're not taking me home."
"Why not? Do you want to come to my house? Or maybe you rather go back to my friends?"
"It's not that! I live in front of a bank and they have security cameras everywhere on that street. Just leave me near Redhill wood, I'll walk from there."
"You're protecting us... Thank you."
"I'm not sure yet. I need to think about it, so don't thank me yet."
The rest of the trip was silent. When we arrived at the destination we both got out of the car and stared at each other.
"I'll be going then. Thank you, you know for not killing me or hurting me," I said giving Mr. Helmet a small smile.
I turned around and started walking.
"Elisa! Wait!"
"How do you know my..."
