Not tonight Sir
We stood there still. No one was moving. Everyone waiting to see who would make the first move. I didn't know my opponent's abilities, so I sure wasn't attacking first.
After a few seconds, he let out a sigh and lunged at me. I dodged him, as I took my dagger out and made a cut on his arm. He turned around with a smirk on his face that matched mine. However, my confident smile disappeared as I saw that his wound had vanished.
We kept going on this way for a while. I would cut him, and he would heal faster than I could see.
It was useless. I was useless.
I was starting to get tired. The only viable option was going for the kill, going for the heart.
For the first time, I took control and attacked him before he could attack me. He wasn't expecting it, so I manage to stab him.
He let out a groan and painfully pulled out the dagger lodged in his body, throwing it on the ground. He took a deep breath and shifted his head to look at me with his eyes full of danger.
I missed my chance.
I quickly kneeled to grab my second dagger and got back to my fighting stance. I noticed that this time the wound was taking longer to heal, so I figured that the closer I got to the heart the higher the chances of me getting the upper hand.
He lunged at me again, but this time he was faster. I couldn't dodge him, and he punched me in the stomach, making me fly a few meters and hitting the brick wall behind me.
I coughed blood. I was on sitting on the floor, against the wall, trying to forget the pain I felt.
"Did you really think you could get me?" he spat. Every single word full of venom. "I let my guard down. I thought you were just a little human. A Tiny, weak, and pathetic little human."
"I-I guess you were wrong."
He chuckled. "Not completely. Look at you now. You. Look. Pathetic."
I got up ready to face him again.
"You're courageous, I'll give you that. Now, I'm sorry, but I need to finish this fun party."
He started walking towards me slowly. His eyes bored into mine as if I was his prey. Then he stopped as the two other Weirdos screamed.
We both turned our heads simultaneously to see what was going on and I felt relief filling my body.
The two Weirdos were laying on the ground. Dead. Next to their bodies Adrian and Levy. Suddenly, we heard footsteps coming quickly from the other side of the street. I looked at it and saw Olivia, Igor, and Taelia.
My eyes went back to the Weirdo in front of me. He stood there, glaring at me as if he was contemplating whether he should finish me or not.
"Hunters Order! You're under arrest! Put your hands up and kneel or we- " Levy was cut by the sound of rocks cracking.
I felt as if a strong energy field spread from the Weirdo in front of me, but when I looked at him I saw nothing. He just vanished.
We all stood there with a stupid look on our faces, not understanding what just happened.
Adrian was suddenly beside me supporting my body and I quickly thought of my frightened friend.
I turned around and start walking towards Eleonor.
"Are you okay Eleonor?"
She nodded and hugged me. "We need to get you to the hospital, Lisa. He literally beat you up badly."
She pulled away and stroke my face gently. I could see the tears in her eyes shining under the night lights as she spoke, "Thank you for protecting me. Thank you so much." She hugged me again. "You were so brave."
"Of course. What are hunter friends for?" I chuckled. "You were amazing Elle. If you didn't call for help I would be dead."
We finally pulled apart after sharing this comforting survivors' hug.
"Let's get you to the hospital now," Adrian said.
Good news I had no broken bones. Bad news I had internal bleeding, so I had to stay hospitalized until I was completely recovered.
Oh, and I lost one of my daggers as it was sent to the lab for blood testing. Just great.
After all that jazz, Adrian decided to stay at my house just in case. Yes, he decided, without consulting me. He was lucky that I liked the idea.
Today I woke up with a phone ringing.
Adrian handed me the phone. "It's the hospital."
I immediately got up and my body became fully awake.
I listened carefully to what the man on the other side of the phone was telling me. I felt something wet on my cheek and quickly brushed it away. Soon after, another tear rolled down my face.
I hung up the phone and looked down at my lap processing all that information.
"What's going on?" Adrian pressed. "What's wrong with Violet?"
"Apparently... Nothing," I said.
"Why are you crying then?" he cut me off.
"She's awake Adrian. Violet is awake. She's fine. The treatment worked, I can't believe it. It worked!" I finally let the feeling sink in.
I felt the happiness and relief invade my body and crushed Adrian in a hug.
"Congratulations."
"Thank you." I grinned. "I have to go. I need to see her."
"I'll drive you there." He smiled back at me.
We arrived at the hospital and I got out of the car. Adrian had to go to his company because of a new deal. I think. I was so excited to see Violet healthy and up in her feet again that I wasn't really paying attention to what he was saying.
I got to her room. The room I visited so many times before to only see her laying on her bed. Lifeless.
Now I see a cute brunette sitting at the window. Full of life.
Full of light. Her pale skin let place to her colorful cheeks.
"Hi V," I said after creeping on her and taking in this image of her that I've missed so much.
She was startled.
"You scared me, Lisa," she finally said, putting her hand on her chest.
Oh, how much I missed her sweet voice.
She got up as I walked towards her and we hugged each other as if we've been apart for too long.
We finally broke apart.
"You look so... So healthy," I said, analyzing Violet's body.
"I am. Thanks to you." She smiled. "You know, I remember you visiting me. I can't explain how, but despite not being able to control my body I was still aware of everything happening around me. I felt your presence and heard your voice."
"That's awesome, that way I don't have to repeat myself." I laughed.
"Yes, it is. And you have to introduce me to a certain someone." She wiggled her brows.
"Well, lucky for you I have my minions, and by minions I mean Igor, organizing a party in your honor. You'll get discharged tomorrow. I'll pick you up in the afternoon and we'll get ready at my house for your party at night."
"Sounds like a plan. I just need to go home to pick some clothes then."
"No, we don't," I informed Violet, who gave me a questioning look. "I guess I forgot to tell you. Since you were at the hospital for so long your landlord managed to dissolve your renting contract even though I paid him your rent."
"What? That... That son of a moose."
Yes, this is Violet for you: the innocent girl that doesn't swear.
"Don't worry. I kept your things at my house and you can stay there as long as you want."
"Just like the old days." We both smiled.
"Don't say it like that. Makes it sound like we're old."
"Speaking of old people. How does it feel to be in a relationship with a very old man that is more than three hundred years old?"
"Well, to be honest, I was surprised by his physical condition. I mean, for a very old man he has a lot of stamina," I joked, winking at her.
"Gross." She scrunched her nose and slapped my arm playfully.
The next day came and passed quickly and I was now on my way with Violet to the usual bar.
Igor planned everything. I didn't ask him, though, he just offered to do it. Apparently, he loved to plan parties and gatherings. He was really into it. He even asked me about Violet's favorite color, food, drink, and music.
So we are probably walking into a bar full of purple balloons, chocolate cupcakes, and Mojitos. The only thing he probably wouldn't be able to manage is to fill the bar with pop music as we all know the love the owner has for Rock and how he despises pop music.
I covered Violet's eyes and guided her into the bar. As I removed my hands everyone cheered and Violet put her hands on her mouth.
I could see she was happy, embarrassed and touched. I have to say that Igor did an amazing job. He even put up a banner with 'Welcome back V!' written on it.
"This is too much," she said, turning to me. "Thank you." She hugged me.
"Well, you have to thank Igor. He's the one who planned all of this.
I started introducing everyone. When I introduced Adrian, Violet turned to me and gesturing and mouthing 'hot'. I laughed.
All introductions were made, and Violet was now talking to Igor. They weirdly looked good together. She, petite and cute and him, big and strong. If it wasn't for Igor's undying love for Olivia I would ship them.
I looked around and saw Adrian and Levy glaring at each other. The tension between them was so thick I could probably cut it with my silver dagger.
Despite the staring contest between Adrian and Levy, the night was great and Violet loved it.
Unfortunately, today I have to work. I told Violet to go out or invite friends over as I was going to be out all day and would probably get back home late since I had a meeting with our superiors at night.
The day was long. Very long. And it was boring too. Extremely boring.
I was now sitting at a table in the meeting room where we were discussing the details of the communication of our investigation results.
The meeting ended up with everyone yawning.
I walked to the parking lots with Eleonor, laughing at some joke Igor told her yesterday.
We got to her car first and said goodbye to each other and I start walking towards my car. Lucky me I had to park my car far from the building.
I think I'm going to ask for a reserved place near it. It's the least they could give me as I'm responsible for the millions they're going to win.
As I got to the car Eleonor passed me in her car honking and waving goodbye at me. I smiled and waved back.
I put my things in my trunk, closed it and felt a hand over my mouth and nose.
My eyes widened. I couldn't breathe. I struggled with the force that was holding me. I tried to get out of that hold, shaking my body in all directions, Kicking and elbowing the strong body that was holding me. Nothing worked.
I felt tears running down my face as I felt weak and powerless. Adrian was right, I'm just a weak human girl.
I felt a cold, sharp object piercing the skin on my neck and my body rejecting whatever substance was being injected.
If only I had my car parked closer.
I felt my eyes going rolling back and my legs feeble. Although I wasn't really conscious anymore, I could sense my body fall, but it was caught by my attacker. He lifted me up on his shoulder and started walking.
Then everything went black.
